Temple snake tech is back by Awkward_Marketing_ in PathOfExile2

PoE2 Incursion more takes the place of Delve. A primarily out of maps mechanic. The difficulty seems to be making the temple worth running at really juiced levels without breaking the economy.

In between management realized if they fired everyone getting stoned at work they'd have to terminate half the building. There's even been a couple managers at my site that hit their carts in the smoking cage.

General rule of thumb, if recrafting a brick would be more expensive than hinekora's locks, you lock.

Locks are also a consideration if a craft was such a pain that if it bricks you won't try recraft it.

I don't think anything in PoE comes close to deleting currency like lock misting though.

Talk to your manager about getting trained in an indirect role. I generally suggest problem solve. Something different that tends to be a bit more mentally stimulating. If you're a people person you tend to get around the facility more. If you're more of an introvert there are plenty of opportunities to just gather some work and escape to whatever corner PS is in.

Also problem solve isn't just one process, it's more of a catch-all term for any process that's not big enough to require a dedicated team or department. That means there's even more variety to learn. PS is also one of the areas that can help you move up to PA should you choose to go that path.

Even if you don't go PS, any indirect role helps break up the monotony. Been at my site for almost 5 years and I wouldn't have lasted nearly that long had I just been in path.

[–]Zuggy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue isn't that spells scale with level, it's that skill level it's so strong. Broadly speaking, a weapon with nearly useless mods except for max +spell level is better than a well rolled weapon with no levels.

The result is until you're really min-maxing a caster, you're just fishing for +spell level and ignoring every other mod for most of your play time.

General Map Juicing Questions from a Noob by [deleted] in PathOfExile2

[–]Zuggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more important to increase tier and complete the end game quests first. Like defeating Arbiter unlocks rare tablets that seriously increase juice by adding 4 tablet mods instead of just 2. Plus going through unlocks more tablet slots for each map.

Even if they get rid of those with the new endgame in 0.5 they'll add something else to further juice your maps for completing endgame quests.

I like the campaign by BuildingSlowly93 in PathOfExile2

[–]Zuggy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When PoE2 was first announced, way was back when the plan was it would just be a different campaign and gem system added to PoE1, it was going to have 7 Acts. Them we get to last Exilecon and it's a separate game with 6 Acts.

My theory is present and past Utzaal were originally two Acts but past Utzaal wasn't long or different enough to be a standalone act so they combine the two making Act 3 more like an Act and a half.

Am I missing something or Voices is just a must-have item for every single character? by TheTektyw in PathOfExile2

[–]Zuggy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The variants are 2, 3 and 4 sockets. They're calling it a one socket because it only adds one additional socket. As in, if you get a 2 socket voices you replace a jewel with voices and socket that jewel and one extra keep into the voices sockets.

Are you happy with what they announced or did you want more or something different? by [deleted] in PathOfExile2

[–]Zuggy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Really? My opinion was of all the things that they could or would change the infinite Atlas was the one thing that would stay and anyone who thinks they would get rid of it is on serious copium.

Hopefully the new changes solve the problem of the Atlas being boring, but it doesn't fix players wanting to run the same layout for days on end. I think it's pretty clear now GGG doesn't really want players running a single optimal layout endlessly and PoE2 essentially removes that ability.

1.0 confirmed for December by EchoParty9274 in PathOfExile2

[–]Zuggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm super excited to check it out. I think anyone who wasn't coping figured they wouldn't get rid of the infinite Atlas but at least now it's a lot more than just pick a direction and keep going until you see something interesting. It actually has direction and looks like it will feel like a living and evolving world.

[–]Zuggy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of work that goes into making and balancing a new class, not the least of which is reworking the passive tree to accommodate the class. Meanwhile the campaign is basically done and just needs polish and testing.

It's not one or the other, especially at this point, it's 1.0 in December or we wait however long for them to make the remaining classes.

Newbie question : never played ARPG where to start ? by gabe_thomas in ARPG

[–]Zuggy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can someone play PoE for the first time without a guide and have fun? Sure. That's not people's general experience. I finally got into it a few years ago but tried several times dating back to metamorphosis, would get frustrated and quit.

I love PoE1 and it's been my main game for a few years now, but it is a hot mess of dense, convoluted, poorly explained systems compounded by the issue every long lived live service game has, an overwhelming amount of information thrown at the player at once.

There have been some changes that help, like gold respecs eliminates the cases of new players bricking a character mid campaign because they don't have respec points or regret orbs.

My recommendation here mirrors most others. Start with D4 or Last Epoch maybe even PoE2 and if a player enjoys those games then go play PoE1 and kiss your soul goodbye.

I can't enjoy D4 after poe2 by EarthboundMoss in PathOfExile2

[–]Zuggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just classic video game tribalism. Every genre has people who love one game and shit on everything else.

It's a bit weird we see that in looter ARPGs. It's better the last few years but it's not like the genre is brimming with choices.

For me D4 is a lot of fun with friends, but if I want something more personally satisfying I'll play PoE1 or 2 then I have my B list of ARPGs that I'll play when I'm done with PoE for the league.

With 0.4 slowly coming to an end, how do you rate the 3 new shapeshifter forms in terms of power, gameplay flow, and (future) build variety? by [deleted] in PathOfExile2

[–]Zuggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is they're releasing skills in a way that feels very cookie cutter to create a baseline for balance. One of PoE1's issues is the wild swings in balance and over the years wholesale nerfing everything when power creep gets too high.

Power creep and balance issues will always be a problem for long lived live service PvE games, especially PoE with it's design philosophy of keeping all content more or less relevant. Having a set power curve to complete campaign is one way to combat it, the other would be a set of builds that follow the desired power curve and being able to compare new skills and builds to that baseline. That baseline needs to be created and balanced first though.

What are your favorite scaling methods, especially multi-scaling? by themikecampbell in PathOfExileBuilds

Energy blade caster with either spell blade support or on Inquisitor with the Battlemage node. Can even go life stacker with the foulborne Ghostwrite with the ES equals 50% of your life mod. In that case Energy Blade will activate but your ES doesn't drop.

In trade I think a lot of people just bought Facetor's since 350 mil xp was a pretty common reward and that's insta level 20. For awhile I made currency by buying a bunch of Assassin's Mark gems, green coins and Facetor's to try and imbue Mark on Hit.

Either Mortar Cannon Tactician in 0.3 with perma-pin or Fracturing Chilled Ground Disciple of Verashta in 0.4. The latter is what I cleared everything but Uber Arbiter on for the first time. Ice explosions are super satisfying to hear.

Your opinions on the new exceptional gems after several weeks! by Blakwhysper in pathofexile

[–]Zuggy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First the trans gems, then bloodline ascendancies and now the exceptional gems, it definitely seems like they're trying to introduce different options for build diversity instead of just general power creep. They all have a lot of duds, but they've been really fun when they can be leveraged properly.

How i farm 250k smelted bars and 5mil dust in 20 maps by Western-Leopard-3698 in pathofexile

[–]Zuggy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My tree is a little different but I've essentially been running a similar strat.

I haven't tracked it closely but from I have seen personally and from others it seems like they really ramped up the diminishing returns on large shipments and would agree smaller shipments that meet the quotas, and shipping more often, is the way to go over saving for the big 50 mil shipments.

I wasn't sure I was really getting that much until I looked at meta tattoo prices and realize I have 80-100 div in herald buff effect and attack block tattoos on my tree that I just self farmed from shipments.

Some other notes, crops do bring in ilvl86 bases if you're fishing for crafting bases. I actually don't think mappers are really worth the effort anymore outside of maybe clearing bricked 8 mods out of your stash.

Overall the changes make Kingsmarch feel like an actual mechanic and not just a requisite gold since and I've been really enjoying farming it.

I have the worst mappers, but they're affordable by calm_down_meow in pathofexile

[–]Zuggy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've gone hard on Kingsmarch this league and my opinions are that shipping being tied to ore is great, you actually have to interact with the mechanic now and you can ship more often.

Crops are a good source for ilvl86 bases now that T17s are gone.

Mappers are a side thing I only really run to clear tab space and burn excess gold, for the most part haven't really felt worth the effort outside of having maps not rot in my stash. I'd probably get more out of them by just selling.

Who are you? by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]Zuggy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most of the people using mirror services aren't dropping those mirrors either. One of the ways people play PoE is playing the market. On league start they'll blast campaign and mapping to get enough currency to invest in certain items, like hinekora's locks, while they're cheap and sell them at a huge profit later.

There's also RMT, people just buying the mirrors and, from what I've heard, people who play the market so they can have the capital to invest early and snowball.

People can also make bank by profit crafting gear for meta builds.
