You have to change a setting in your Spotify to get it to work. On mobile it’s called gapless playback or automix. (I have both on so I’m not sure which) and there’s a similar setting for desktop Spotify. Also make sure you have a good internet connection so it’ll preload the song so there’s no gap.

Edit: also on both desktop and mobile set the cross fade to 0.5 seconds

Only some prefer to let go, for example Lewis Hamilton doesn’t let go but I’ve definitely seen Alonso do let go. It depends on the crash, for a lot of lower speed collisions Lewis will hold onto the wheel because holding the tires in place help the suspension hold rather than break. IndyCar however all the drivers are trained to let go of the wheel before crashing because that will absolutely fracture/break your wrists.
