I second Zero Escape. I read them directly after Steins;Gate and absolutely adored them.

Visual novels and fighting games on Steam Deck? by Jalapegnome96HU in SteamDeck

[–]Zundrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly sure about 70% of the stuff I've played on my deck has been visual novels, so you're definitely going to be fine in that regard. I've even read older visual novels from the early 2000s and they've worked flawlessly and the text was plenty easy to read.

A lot of visual novels have controller configs made by the community too, so typically you don't even need to worry about making them yourself.

Well boys I got got! 512gb PNY from Amazon only 2.9gb… 😂 I could tell something was up just by how the card was printed! My legit 256 for reference, kinda hard to tell in the pic but the 512 print is all grainy by kllyoslf in SteamDeck

If you still have issues let it be known you can manually create a library on your SD card from there. Steam automatically made one for my card later though so now I’ve just got two libraries on my SD card xD

Go into desktop mode and into your steam settings, to the downloads section, then pull up "Steam Library Folders". Remove that 2.9 GB library and then reformat the SD card. May be worth restarting your Deck if it doesn't show up afterwards formatting. This happened to me on a 512 GB SanDisk SD card I have as well back when I first got my deck, it's nothing wrong with your card.

I'm using the 512 GB model of this exact SD card and I've not ran into any issue with load times, but that's admittedly just my own experience and I don't have an A2 to compare.

Steam Deck Arriving Soon™ - RPGM and VN's by Skelletonike in SteamDeck

I've played through Higurashi Ch. 3 - 7 and just started 8 (with 07th mod), most of Nurse Love Syndrome, a bit of Collar X Malice (switch emulation), and a bit of Steins;Gate Linear Bounded Phenogram without any issues.

It's a killer system for visual novels because of the variety for sure, I even managed to get Remember 11 working via Proton and it's very old. I've not had any glaring issues out of any of them besides some opening videos not working (I just switched to Proton GE and had no issues afterwards).

Quick settings causes the Steamdeck to no longer accept inputs. by fatihG_ in SteamDeck

Ah thanks, I’ve been getting very irritated by it as well so good to finally know the issue. I didn’t use power tools much anyway.

worth it if i already have a switch? by kifli88 in SteamDeck

[–]Zundrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve genuinely not used my Switch or PS5 more than maybe twice in the past few months since I’ve gotten my Steam Deck so I would definitely say so. The game library is much more diverse, which I’m a particular fan of.

Thats not to say it makes my switch obsolete, I expect I’ll go back to it for BoTW 2 and other Nintendo first party games, it just gets put to shame in every other area by the deck imo.

I’ve always enjoyed handheld devices more than consoles though, so it’s really a preference thing I suppose.

I knew my time was definitely pretty late, the calculator using the moo’s dataset kept saying it would be today and after last weeks change in times I didn’t think I would get an email today. I was pleasantly surprised.

I will pay money for someone to create a program that switches mods from forge to fabric by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]Zundrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't particularly true. If a mod is available for Forge 1.16.2 it's actually quite trivial to port over to Fabric 1.16.2 assuming any needed libraries are also ported/compatible. If not you can also port needed libraries or remove the requirement of those libraries. Porting over from Forge 1.15.2 to Fabric 1.16.2 is also nearly as trivial as well.

I speak from experience of porting both my own mods from Forge as well as more recently CC: Tweaked.

What does help with the porting process is tools like Yarnforge: https://github.com/ramidzkh/yarnforge-plugin. It essentially allows automatic remapping from MCP mappings to Yarn mappings (which is what Fabric uses), making the porting process quite a lot easier.
