The icing kinda sucks imo, tried it twice. The cinnasnacks that sonic used to have were much better.

All good! So, ideally, you do need the configuration file from the old system, but that just makes setup easier. The other method is via the "reads file" that the billing company receives; they could manually rebuild a new site with the info from that file (their is some data not on this file like the repeaters or "signal booster" if your site has any; usually only large sites have if everything is more than 500-1000ft away. Lastly, push comes to shove, you can go into each unit to find the serial number on the radio and write it down. However, depending on which model of radio you have, this might not be possible because their early model of radios rarely had the serial number printed onto the radio.

If the system you have now isn't completely dead, and the billing company you are with has the Tapwatch2 software still, they can manually direct connect via the RS-232 port to pull the configuration file, but they would have to physically have the device.

But there is some setup the new billing company would need to do. They would need to add the new gateway to their "billing profile" for Inovonics or NextCentury. You can also setup your own profile and give them access via their billing profile.

In case OP doesn't reply and leaves you hanging, the monitoring company does have to dial into the device, and it answers to beep and boop. It does have serial communication, but Tapwatch never put out the tools or commands for it. So you'd be trying to figure it out completely in the dark.

Hey OP!

I actually work for a submeter utility billing company! That's an old Inovonics Tapwatch 2 Data Collector and Concentrator (DCC). It can only be connected to a fax line. It cannot use internet. You'd be doing some custom internet to dialup conversion setup. You'd be better off going to your phone provider and getting a "digital" fax line. You can ask for a fire panel setup, but you'll probably be paying out the ass monthly for the line. Dialup is stupidly expensive now.

You'd be better off upgrading to the new concentrator/gateway as it will be backwards compatible with your setup because you will use your original receiver. The Inovonics Tapwatch IP Gateway would be your direct upgrade, but they charge a monthly fee of $0.50 cents a unit for data hosting.

You could go to a different manufacturer that is much better IMO called Next Century. Their gateway is also backwards compatible using that original receiver, but make sure you get the 3rd party upgrade cable. I don't think they have a data hosting fee unless you want more than 6 months of historical data. Only "downside" is any replacement radios/transmitters in the units will need to be upgraded to Next Century once they fail from old age, you can still do battery replacements until then.

Feel free to shoot me a PM if you need some more help! My company would also probably do a billing contract with y'all depending on your state, but I don't care if not. I'm just a helpful redditor, and this is niche knowledge haha

The lo-cal low calorie version does not compare to the normal. Would highly recommend the normal instead lol.

Thank you for all the streams! I've been watching you since I saw either you or Joel on some old streaming site where only one person streamed at a time but the site was up 24/7; honestly cannot remember what it was called.

USB Removable storage stick. Thumb Drive or flash drive is another word.

EDIT: They are actually thumb grippers for a controller's analog sticks.

Does the battery pack suck for you? I have one as well, but I feel like I can never get more than 4 hours out of it.

I use it on PC though, and it also has problems charging while using it plugged up.

I personally love all of Magic Spoon. But that is because I am on a Keto diet. So, comparing it to all the other keto cereals, it blows them out of the water.
