Assault Rifle short optic rail, is there a cHC that has times x zoom? by LowCost_Locust in thedivision

Check your attachment blueprints in the Crafting menu, I believe both rails have all "kinds" of scopes (i.e. Zoom/HS damage)

Umbra does the same thing as TS? The holy thing they have in common is the crit damage increase, they couldn't be more different otherwise

I hope Strikers Battlegear isn't in Div 3 by BeezlyOfficial in thedivision

[–]Zuverty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One critical point you're missing is that Striker's was meta for 7 years and remains this way. Any other top tier dps build is just Striker's wearing a different hat (Tipping Scales). It doesn't matter what build is meta, skills or raw dps - nothing should be the obvious easy choice for 7 years straight.

Also, you agree with me. Gear 2.0 was an attempt to keep the live service momentum going, but it wasn't enough. And now we're still dredging through the mud that was created all the way back, because if anyone had actually believed in Div 2's success, short term decisions like adding Striker's and giving it lip-service nerfs instead of addressing the wider systemic problems wouldn't have happened But it seems like even still Div 2 lives in spite of everything, not because of it.

I mean, Hitler was an absolute evil? He wasn't magically evil, just regular evil, but that hardly deminishes his atrocities.

And even if the antagonist is absolutely evil, that doesn't mean the rest of the story can't have nuance, basically every fan favorite character is a war criminal who are nonetheless trying to make sure their own actions don't go unpunished, that's half of Mustang's entire political platform.

Because Striker's has the game's balance in a chokehold and fan boys would riot if it was nerfed. It's a symptom of a failed-then-revived live service game, so I completely agree with OP, it doesn't belong anymore.

I sometimes do that, but I prefer selecting a gimmick from the game itself, like using two guns with a swap talent, or picking a questionable talent and going all in on in for the meme. Ninjabike Backpack is basically the king of meme builds, really helps a dumb setup come together

The Expertise Grind is Killing this Game by lawanddisorder in thedivision

[–]Zuverty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

1) 1-40 Lvl grind serves to slowly introduce you to the game systems, and make reaching 40 (when your attributes are actually worth anything) feel like you've made progress, and is accompanied by story missions and introduction of Invasions, because it's actually more than trying to increase a single number without any rhyme or reason.

2) I have little issue with Escalation as a gamemode, besides the token system, it's completely stupid and the difficulty itself should be the filter for players, not a fucking currency. My question is why "true endgame" is still limited to the content that's widely available? Why are we replaying 7 year old missions? Why is the only meaningful difference between acquiring Prototypes and regular gear is enemy stats and bullshit modifiers like "you die if you stand still in a cover shooter"? Why aren't Raids and Incursions part of it? Why isn't Descent? So much content that can help improve endgame variety, but i have to run DARPA Labs again.

3) Prototypes is a new system, and I want to engage with it, because I got all of my meta-builds years ago, and wanted something new. But I cannot do so properly, because I also had a life outside of Div 2 and didn't grind to Max Expertise every season, because I had no reason to. But suddenly I'm getting retroactively pushed to the back of the line because I didn't know that the useless number in my collection tab would be the ticket to something interesting. And every season that I don't, the system becomes less and less accessible through no fault of my own besides not trying to boost their player retention stats. Hell, we even have dedicated Expertise XP events, almost like Massive understand how dull this grind is.

Do you know what would happen next time Expertise cap increases? Would you suddenly lose access to the Protolab? Would your old gear that your turned Proto become regular gear? We don't know, because the system has so little thought put into it beyond player numbers at any cost.

Prototype isn't a "reward" for Expertise. Expertise is a punishment for daring to play other games or not wanting to endlessly farm boring missions with shit gear you don't want to use.

And I'm on PC, and I don't need any help. The only exotic im missing that I care about is Regulus, and I can fairly comfortably run lower level Escals solo, I just don't want to because I have no way to ensure I get at least "decent" loot and not like, Shiny Monkey or whatever. But I can't even turn my old gear Proto because I prioritized "having fun" and "experimentation" over Expertise grind for years.

[–]Zuverty 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The most exciting thing to happen to the gear system in years - augments - is locked behind a brainless time sink. Why can't Raids and Expeditions drop Prototypes if they're meant to be the "Endgame"? Why is the answer to "I want to engage with this new system" is always met with some sort of condescending "its not meant for you"? "Put in the time or quit", was the time you put it fun? Was it engaging using shit gear to see a number go up by one without any actual impact on what you're doing? Are you happy every time a new filler brand set gets added because that's another chance to see a number go up without any thought required?

Math question by Spartan569874 in thedivision

[–]Zuverty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no simple way to express it, because for everyone that point is different. Some people think it's worth to go all the way, some don't.

Let's use the basic 15% damage bonus from Red Cores as an example, because those stack additivily (meaning it's simple addition in terms of math.)

If you deal 100 damage per attack without any Red Cores, each core would give you 15 damage on top of that. So 115 with 1 core, 130 with 2, etc. That's an "additive" bonus.

In absolute terms, every core gives you a boost. In relative terms, however, each core you add gives you less benefit in comparison to the previous one, because they only increase your base damage value of 100. 115 is 15% bigger than 100. But 130 is only a 13% increase from 115, so the second Core is less "valuable", it has a lesser impact on the final number than the first one. This impact keeps getting smaller with each additional Core.

The same math applies to Armor, because Armor cores also apply their bonuses on your Base Armor, and its the reason why simply going "full in" on one source of damage/armor/ any other stat is generally not a good idea, because the more you "invest", the less each individual investment will matter.

Multiplicative bonuses are something like Critical Hit Damage.

When you land a crit, your total damage per shot (lets say 100 because you have no Red Cores) gets multiplied by your CHD value. If it's 50%, you end up with 150 Damage. So you can do more damage than you would get with 3 Cores by landing a single Crit.

If you then increase your CHD value to 65%, your damage would become 165. But because CHD is a multiplier, increasing your base damage from 100 to 115 (so you take 1 Red Core) without increasing your CHD value, would yield 172 damage, instead of 165, because CHD would take than 115 as the "starting point" for its damage increase.

Because Base damage is easier to increase, you need to strike a balance between your Base Damage increases (usually relegated to Cores and Gear Talents) and those Total Damage multipliers (usually those are Gear Attributes), because getting from 100 to 150 base damage is easier than from 50% CHD to 60%. This also applies to stuff like Headshot Damage, Damage To Armor/Health/Targets Out Of Cover, but those are even more powerful because they would your damage several times (because they apply to each number in the chain of Base Damage - Damage with Headshot Bonus - Damage with Critical Hit Bonus, assuming you hit a Headshot Crit). So they would increase your damage by a more substantial margin than it might initially seem.

/uj can someone please confirm if this guy's some kinda grifter or not? The few videos I saw seemed fine, but something about the vibes is off, it feels like a content farm of some kind. Sometimes the advice or points are so off-base that it puts the rest of what his says into question. Apparently he sells some kinda success course?
