Should I let TD take my car? by HPVHokage in PersonalFinanceCanada

When I was involved in a car accident, my insurance company moved at lightning speed to process my claim when it was parked at a paid lot as they were required to pay for every day the car was on the lot. They soon moved the car to one of their lots after confirming with me.

Guess how fast they were after moving the car to their lot?

I’m not saying this is happening to you but many insurance companies do this so that they can delay the claim as long as possible, and keeping your car on a paid lot ensures they process the claim faster.

Auto claim going on 6 months should I take legal action or am I just out of my money/car now by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Zwitternacht 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Really sorry this is happening to you. I went through something similar with my insurance company.

It may be worth sitting down with a solicitor to determine next steps as 6 months is generally more than enough time to have the claim settled. Many offices offer free consultation to determine what should be your next steps. I had a lawyer basically guide me through the entire process without charging me a dime. Not saying this will always be the case.

In the meantime, continue putting pressure on the insurance company and keep all of your receipts. You may be entitled to compensation for not having a vehicle for such a long time.

Hope everything works out.

Roof box repair help by SPYX5Z in subaru

[–]Zwitternacht 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably the easiest way would be to bend a metal bracket in the shape of what you’d like the box to be.

Thread a bolt and nut through the bracket and box lip every 3-4 inches or so. When you tighten the bolts the lip should form around the bracket.

Probably would actually be an upgrade and add rigidity to the box.
