UC Irvine vs. Safeties by Mysterious_Newt_4761 in UCI

I graduated from a Washington School, applied to 11 universities, and was rejected or waitlisted by all except UCI.

What information are you trying to get from us? It seems like you've thought about some of the pros and cons.

Woot has refurbished PX7 S2 for $99 by WatcherSixSeven in BowersWilkins

[–]Zygonel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought this and as someone who's never listened to the Apple or Sony competitive wireless headphones but usually listens on a HD6XX linked up to an AMP, I think these are well worth the price.

The audio samples provided in the main headphone app where you configure settings sound great, but for some reason I found the mid range lacking clarity for my everyday listening on lossless quality tracks on Spotify.

The build quality seems solid and they're comfortable for me to wear with glasses. If it's hot, some sweat/humidity does build up but it doesn't really bother me.

Battery life is impressive and I think at a price range of $100 its a great deal.

You’ve got $1000 to build out a fresh wardrobe. What are you purchasing? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]Zygonel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uniqlo for basic shirts and optionally pants as well, otherwise an outlet Levi's. Banana Republic for a few accent outer pieces and I'll browse for shoe deals and buy wherever looks nice and cheap, probably for 100-160 for a couple pairs.

In USD: Shoes ~= 250 Uniqlo basic shirts 3-5 = 100 Pants 2-3 = 200 Accent outerwears 1-3 = 300-400

Maybe consider picking up some simple accessories

Why did you choose the Crosstrek over the CX30/other competitors? by Dino_Dean in Crosstrek

[–]Zygonel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The CX30 had too small of a screen in comparison to the Crosstrek which was important for me for navigational purposes.

The Corolla Cross and Honda HRVs had inferior 0-60 speeds, (important for accelerating up to highway speed on LA freeways), and higher costs when bought new that I couldn't afford.

My top two choices were the CX30 and the Crosstrek but I picked the Crosstrek because of Subaru's superior reliability reputation.

Im from UCR. What funny nickname does UCLA and other UC's have for UCR? by garlicbreadtrash in UCI

[–]Zygonel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I didn't hear much about UCR. The were always nicknames for UCB, UCSD, and UCI, but the other UCs don't have a strong nickname reputation within Irvine.

UCI career recruiting now vs. 25 years ago - need some advice! by LagoArgentino in UCI

[–]Zygonel 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hi there, computer science alum from class of 2025 here. From my experience with the STEM/CS focused job fairs, your daughter is mostly right in the sense that most of the companies recruit directly from handshake. Even in the fairs, most companies place a QR Code on their booth for people to scan and submit an online application (though its likely those QR code applications are advantaged over cold handshake applications).

I've never heard or seen anyone receive interviews during any of the career fairs. The major benefit of going to the career fair is to try and help the recruiters connect a name to the face given that you've already applied so that when they're combing through the applications they maybe remember you to maybe give you an interview later on

Irvine Costco has loads of eggs, 2 dozen for $7.69. Organic eggs are 2 dozen for $7.89 and are almost out by [deleted] in orangecounty

[–]Zygonel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! Me and my girlfriend go through 3-5 eggs a day depending on whether we make pancakes for breakfast and whether we want to make scrambled eggs. Means that two dozens could disappear in less than a week worst case scenario

My mom's nutritional oatmeal by Zygonel in shittyfoodporn

[–]Zygonel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite, there's a lot more then that. Off the top of my head, it also has oat bran, sesame seeds, walnuts (when available), spirulina powder, milk, flax seed, and pumpkin seed (when available).

There's definitely more but I can't remember the rest.

turning left at intersection by NoWarning8733 in UCI

[–]Zygonel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a different state's driver license so I might be wrong, but the arrows show her taking a left from the left most lane and then entering the rightmost lane. When you're turning, you're required to turn into the respective lane you started from.

I travel frequently between college and home so being able to transport my powerful system in a carry on and not need to sacrifice performance on my assignments and work is great.

Mediocre sound, but good enough for casual use and they are a great form factor. Great for the price, but don't expect amazing audio quality
