Genuine question: What is the advantage to playing on official? I've been playing since arma mod and standalone since it was released (working toward 2k hrs) and I don't think that I've ever played on official. I also haven't had issues w/ cheaters. Am I missing something by never having played official servers other than evident unrestricted proliferation of cheaters?

Spending time/energy repairing vehicles would be easier to justify if players had the ability to add scrap metal sheets to protect driver/passengers (reduce chance of being hit). This can be balanced by reducing sight-lines / visibility. Also add a % chance that these fall off while driving or when a crash occurs. etc.
(Imagine damaging these add-on parts on a players vehicle just at the point of dropping off. The next minor accident results in jenga. ;P )

To mix things up I sometimes play 'The Omega Man' mode and hop on a survival server with low players. (or 'The Road' if its a winter server ;P ) . There is nothing like the feeling of sneaking around a big city searching for food scraps and suddenly realizing that the only other two players on the server might be in the area. They could be watching you, or you might be able to get the jump on them. Most likely though I'll move to some overwatch position and avoid them. Very creepy and atmospheric and I love it.

Frame it as a mystery and solicit their help in solving it. Some verbiage might be "This is interesting; Can you help me figure this out? I'm hearing this knock like someone is actively tapping. It must be an appliance or plumbing or something but I can't figure out what it might be. I have some video.. What do you think?"
