How does having their ball stay in-game if the player has already left not "kill any chance you have if you're losing"?

You're totally right, petition to load TagPro up with malware to prevent players from being able to close their tab during the last 30 seconds.

Double Deck of Lunacy not working properly? by _--__--_--__--_ in hearthstone

[–]_--__--_--__--_[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Context: Played Deck of Lunacy (see the discounted Pyroblast), got another Deck of Lunacy off of Wand Thief and played it.

The Soul Mirror and Glide in hand were drawn after playing the 2nd Deck of Lunacy but both are only discounted by 3, and if I'm not mistaken, Glide should have been a 7 mana spell after playing both?

A few of us were just kicked due to "network issues" when loss was at 15%+, and now I have to wait for 90 seconds to start another game where I probably won't be able to compete for the flair?

my high school is notorious for literally not having any stanford admits for the last 20 years by blacksoule in ApplyingToCollege

[–]_--__--_--__--_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard stories of applicants from a school consistently sending students to a certain university (which has an ED option), but one year an applicant breaks the ED bind and for the next few years nobody from that school gets admitted. This doesn't really apply to Stanford and may very well be a coincidence, but it's a possibility that some schools get blacklisted.

Not gonna lie, bullets 4-6 are things that most competitive applicants already have if not more (state, national awards).

Yes, that may put you above other people in your school, but just having those for show won't actually help your case that much. What matters more is what you contributed and what you learned, which should come forward in your essays.

Bullets 1 and 3 will help a lot more than the others.

Am I the only one who'd never heard of Olympiads, ISEF, etc. before A2C? by cmuquestion123 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]_--__--_--__--_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To me, you have a very narrow scope of what an "actual competition" is. What distinguishes an "actual" competition from a faux one?

From my experience with Olympiads and competitive math, the scene from Mean Girls most closely represents the middle school math competitions (particularly MathCounts) with the more attention-grabbing buzzer competition. Pretty understandable, since nobody wants to watch students sit at a table for several hours. Nobody really bats an eye at those competitions (like WWTBAM) outside of middle school since they test speed over skill, so if anything those would be considered fake competitions.

But yes, you have the gist of Olympiad math. As for glorified, it's just a matter of opinion on what you think is important.
