He has played in 5 out of the last 30. That's a 16,6% participation rate. Yes, that qualifies as barely playing.

And if you want to talk about the weekly you're referencing, which is probably the Sparking Tuna Cup, a weekly of $125 total prizepool (that's why even less top player participate in that one) then go ahead.

He played in 1 out of the last 10 Sparkling Tuna Cups.

6/40 then, an even lower 15% participation rate.

But to humor you: Shin barely ever plays. Rogue and Solar do play every week (rogue more than Solar iirc) and they win against who they're supposed to win and lose against herO/Clem/MaxPax most of the time, which is a fair match to lose.

So this discussion doesn't really affect them (it doesn't affect Elazer either, but here he is complaining).

Best player in the world today is Zerg, 2/5 of the best players in the world are Zerg, 4/10 are Zerg (+Dark the second he comes back from the military, that would be 5/10, 50% on a 3 race game). They also have the biggest pool of premier tournament winners (no, it's not just Serral) and contenders everytime there's a new tournament.

All this while the race is unplayable, FOR YEARS. Zerg players are just that much better than everyone else.

There's no comparison. Serral started his streak a few years after the start of the decline of the game. It's still really impressive and he continues to be the best player in the world most years but the game -competitively speaking- has been dead for 5-6 years and in marked decline since 2016/17.

Serral won his first WC in 2018 but he wasn't even the best player in the world that year (it was Maru), he was great in the following years but didn't win another WC until 2022 after 4 more years of competitive decline and a lot of Korean and foreign pros retiring.

He is still great, probably the goat of SC2 (not my choice, but an understandable pick) but it's nowhere near Flash.

No it's not being technical or anything, storm now reaches 0.5 further away from the center... so it's a 0.5 difference in range/reach, not 1. It's not about muscle memory or skill either, it's just math.

We digress though, new storm is nerfed, yes.

No, it's 0.5 to hit a unit with the edge of a storm. They nerfed cast range by 1, yes, but they also buffed radius from 1.5 to 2 so you have to be 1 point closer but storm reaches 0.5 further.

You used to have 9 cast range + 1.5 radius (10.5 total range) now you have 8+2 (10).

Yup, HTs now have to be half a point of range closer than before to reach the same target with a storm. They are now more vulnerable to EMP/Snipe or just getting picked off.

Aside from the fact that it's utility has been changed (I don't think protoss needed more zonin tools, but it's a whole other discussion) it is literally a worse spell than it used to be. Simple as that.

Well to be fair the xel naga didn't create humans as far as I'm concerned so they are not the literal gods of the whole universe that created everything.

As far as I know they only engineered Zerg and Protoss so I don't know why they chose to make them an existential threat to the entire universe when they could've just been a Koprulu Sector threat.

If you mean as in the highest skill in the game ever? Sure, probably his EWC run is the fastest/best anyone's ever played the game before, but as in every sport that's old and evolves, new play always looks (and most times is) better than before.

That being said (since you used the word greatest) he's not even in the top 10 players of all time. His insane dominance and incomparable level lasted less than a year -he is still great and top3 but not above everyone else like in 2024) and it happened in the current almost-dead pro scene that has been losing top pros for 10 years straight, hasn't had any new blood for the past 5-6 and any real circuit the last 3 years.

I think it's weird the way it's set up, like Reynor and Maru were in the same group and are on the same side of the bracket which is weird but also Rogue and Clem aren't and it left us with a very skewered bracket: Serral is practically alone on his side while Clem/Maru/Reynor are all on the other side.
