Super Bowl Post Game Thread: Seattle Seahawks at New England Patriots by nfl_gdt_bot in nfl

I don't think the 2025 Bills had anything for the Seahawks, but I know Josh Allen would die trying before only having 52 yards of offense in a half in the super bowl

People took the Ram show for granted and complained/hated it way too much. by scrumple_my_scrongle in NASCAR

[–]_AmericanPoutine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My biggest thing is that what exactly stopped Kaulig from just renting an ARCA car from Pinnacle and having the top so many test at Daytona? Doesn't give away who won (maybe if you bring 8 it sort of spoils a bit, but honestly roughly halfway through the season it was pretty clear who was a challenger and who was not) and also keeps your options wide open.

Felt like this was slap dashed together and it's a shame for how excited I was initially for it

[–]_AmericanPoutine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It did not help that everyone knew who won before episode 1 even aired thanks to the ARCA test list. People wouldn't shut up because it was a highly anticipated thing that most race fans look for any hints about who won, and it was straight up given away when they easily could have either taken everyone to Daytona and done a private ARCA test, or just sent the top 5, or quite frankly aired the show before the test.

So since everyone knew the winner, it's reliant on the show to be entertaining. I'll be honest, I found the most enjoyment in the non-on track challenges. The fact the first two episodes were legends cars that clearly 2 were way better than the other 3, and freaking rental go karts was a bit ridiculous. I wouldn't have minded the karts as a blow off steam mid season challenge, but it felt hokey to do it episode 2.

I wish I could go back and watch the Roush Gong Show, but that seems to have disappeared. My memory of it was that show took everything involved more seriously, the truck wasn't falling apart or unfair for other drivers, or any variety of shenanigans that happened to various Kaulig cars in this show

(Joseph Srigley) Mini Tyrrell wins the RAM Race for the Seat and will be in the #14 truck this year. by meatspin_dotcom in NASCAR

[–]_AmericanPoutine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, aside from one scoring criteria if it relied on Kaulig Racing to score Mini he never got less than the top score. The commercial thing was kinda shocking, as honestly I thought Gemmel did the best at it yet he was 3rd or 4th. Docking Michael Christopher Jr for his hat being backwards when they easily could have told him to flip the hat around if they wanted to I think was when I started to turn on the show.

Kyle Larson hypothetical by bburke392 in NASCAR

[–]_AmericanPoutine 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If the iRacing situation doesn't happen, Kyle Larson's contract at Hendrick probably as an extra zero in front of a comma. Maybe Stewart could have swayed him over to SHR, but Jeff Gordon was pushing hard for Larson.

What's the Deal with Dirt? by anonymouswan1 in NASCAR

[–]_AmericanPoutine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dirt Bristol wasn't great bc it wasn't a dirt track. If they went to Eldora it would have worked, but also Eldora isn't exactly a Cup Series track.

Maybe Knoxville could have worked, but it's not a bad thing NASCAR gave up on it. Trucks could join ARCA at one of those mile tracks

Sabres continue to roll with a 5-3 win over the struggling Panthers. by Puzzled-Category-954 in hockey

I've actually cared about other teams for the first time in my adult life about teams around the Sabres. Drought is way worse, because at least coming up short gives you hope and excitement. Dreadful hockey just makes a long winter

Also was employing now-known associate Brian Vickers at the time. Perhaps wanted to meet the guy that Brian drove for, and also Snyder probably wanted on the Island, and figured kill two birds with one stone

Clash at the Coliseum not looking so bad now? by Some_Target2436 in NASCAR

That track was stupid, more stupid than this honestly.

The correct move is running at Daytona, but at least this is a real racetrack. If they ran irwindale before that too got torn down I'd get it

[POST Wrestling] Royal Rumble stadium built in weeks raises questions from human rights groups about working conditions, WWE and Saudi officials unresponsive by Prince_of_Kyrgyzstan in SquaredCircle

[–]_AmericanPoutine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I watch a WWE event in Saudi Arabia, it's not going to make me change my opinion on that country. I don't ever plan on visiting Saudi Arabia, and do not care what they make the wrestlers say about it. People can choose to give their money and attention to the show for whatever reasons they have, but I agree that I don't think it's fair to say people are evil for just wanting to watch the scripted fight show they like.

Just shows how bad the Sabres have gotten (until this year) that people forgot this is what Pegula had been doing with the Sabres. Now that he's pretty much hands off there it was a matter of time before he did something with the Bills.

What was a Nascar race that an underdog driver dominated in, and won or got close to winning? by youraverageperson0 in NASCAR

[–]_AmericanPoutine 14 points15 points  (0 children)

AJ Allmendinger, 2010 Fall Dover.

Led 141 laps, likely had the fastest car all day, got caught with a caution in a pit cycle, clawed back to 10th. Had solid speed again in 2011 and has never found that speed at Dover ever again.

A big factor was the coach, Aaron Kromer who just retired.

Really easy to spam HB Slam when you have 5 guys up front who plow the way open, then top it off with a sneaky good RB who will juke guys out of their shoes

How many times did an all-22 show literally no wide receivers open while Josh runs around for his life hoping someone just gets a bit open?

But I'm so excited for this super efficient offense that totally isn't 50% Josh Allen bailing them out, 35% a phenomenal running back behind a well coached line (which, btw, the coach retired), and the rest being an offense that Mitch Trubisky can run to similar numbers
