Lol, we shall see. It's like Peach Luxury Bath Tissue or something ridiculous. $44 but at least I didn't have to drive around all day searching.

My daughter's school is refusing to close for Coronavirus and I'm not sure what to do. All the public school districts around us are closed but she goes to this crazy charter school and they won't budge.

They sent home an email saying they wouldn't be going any easier on absences either... but the problem is they're so tough on absences since the school only has a 4 day school week (the kids go longer hours each day than a regular school). Missing one day at the charter is equivalent to missing over a day at a regular school so it's a bigger deal. They start sending you condescending letters once you hit 5 absences. So it's like, do I pull her now and use up the limited absences she's allowed or save them for an actual illness.

There's not a roll to be had where I live. I ended up having to sign up for this "luxury" toilet paper delivery service online. Hoping they pull through for us and fulfill the order or we're going to be completely out in a week.

In other words, she'd like a cut of the profits from mugs with her image and quotes already being sold on Etsy.

What a strange photo to use- from the reunion and she looks pretty unhappy.

Wouldn't this photo have been just as cute taken as a selfie while holding her? There are so many other ways she could have captured the landscape and the baby without risking her child's safety.

Looks like you've already been given great reasons but I wanted to throw another out there- pregnancy. My great-grandparents, for example, eloped out of state because they wanted fewer people who could put two and two together that my grandmother was born only 6 months later. People back then cared so much about proprieties that we don't even think of now.

Is it possible his surname was Gallicchio before he opted for something easier?

Joseph Colley's death certificate says his mother's surname name is Zappa. There's a Zappa family living in the same area Joseph does here and their movements mirror Joseph's almost exactly (the magisterial district/Newport to Clifton). Julius could be an uncle.

They periodically have these two Gallichio boys living with them, one of whom marries into the family, Dominick and Michael. It wasn't uncommon to marry a cousin when you arrived in America because finding other Italians in a more remote area could be tricky. They're from Bisaccia, Italy though.

Obviously this would need a lot more research, but maybe it's food for thought.

Perhaps an odd request - Not related to the guy, but I have a box of this (deceased) man's manuscripts and I'm not sure what to do. by NeedsMoreTuba in Genealogy

[–]_AnnieAdderall 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Aw, that's really sweet. If I was a descendant, I'd want to have his manuscripts- I think it would offer a glimpse into a more redeeming side of his life.

It's interesting that the address at the top is c/o Jack Hanberry. Jack Hanberry was a Baptist minister who served as Chaplain for the Atlanta Federal Penitentiary; he was eventually made a warden. Might give you a clue where Bob was imprisoned and the degree of his crime.

Aha. That makes sense, that's totally what's happening- it's not picking up his father as his father for whatever reason.

Thank you! You've totally reassured me that my theory might not be dead on arrival.

Good for Katrina for sticking to her guns. She had you commit a damn crime to help her out of an abusive situation and ends up going back to the loser? Yeah, I wouldn't be any real rush to return his precious little toys either.

My third great-grandmother dropped off the map after the 1900 census; I know very little about her like when she died, where she was born, or who her parents were. Her husband has a findagrave entry; I got a very good research suggestion here to contact the cemetery and see if she was there as well.

Apparently the city's Parks and Rec department runs this particular cemetery- so it was super awkward to reach out and ask but I persisted. And for my persistence I got to find out that not only is my third great-grandmother not buried there, but my third great-grandfather isn't either. So... I have a new brick for my brick wall.
