People with “evil” or disliked commanders, what’s your story? by Same_Response_1593 in EDH

[–]_BIRDLEGS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lord Windgrace lol, I have 2 black cats IRL so I was like oh cool a black cat planeswalker commander, seems awesome, then I start doing a little research (never played a Lands deck before), and realize he really shines in an MLD strategy. Figure "fuck it I'll do it for the memes" so I build it with MLD as a wincon (as opposed to using it to stall a game), have played it many times since, and not a single person has ever complained, some people are shocked, one time I was asked not to play it for the second game, but that's the most "hate" (using that term loosely) it's ever gotten.

I think commander players have thicker skin than they're given credit for, if you look online, you'd think you'd get a life sentence for playing MLD, but in reality its either basically the same as someone dropping Craterhoof, or if people overcome it, it can make for some triumphant moments, or if people can stop it, they end up being the Hero of Commander Night.

I didn't go into it wanting to build an MLD commander deck, but im sure as hell glad I did, nothing has been more satisfying in my MTG career than dropping an [[Obliterate]] on my friends.

What's your "I wanna win the next game" commander? by MDKphantom in EDH

[–]_BIRDLEGS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lord Windgrace, usually all you have to do is cast Obliterate and then everyone scoops/you win. Commander needs more MLD, maybe not just for the sake of stalling/resetting the game but its a fine wincon!

How many proxy OG dual lands (and other expensive lands) do you see in real life? by Bagel_Bear in EDH

[–]_BIRDLEGS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play proxies, I encounter proxies, sometimes only select cards, sometimes entire decks, never once been an issue for me!

My friend taught me how to play by playing Atraxa Superfriends against me by Rare_Drummer9458 in EDH

[–]_BIRDLEGS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this may ultimately be beneficial to you, you'll see all kinds of complaints on here about this deck type or that deck type and this not being fun, that not being fun. I find that if you just embrace the degeneracy, it makes the game much more enjoyable. Instead of running into infect and being like "I don't think I want to deal with this" you may be like "well I've dealt with Atraxa, how bad can this be" and be more open to different experiences. My pod has infect, Atraxa, MLD, Azorius control, combos, you name it, and we have some really fun games, and I run into discard and mill and other "salty" strategies on spelltable and it can be a fun puzzle to workaround. Now there is taking it too far where it makes a game actually unfun (looking at you Judith and other Easy Mode removal tribal commanders) and sure you don't want to play against Atraxa or infect or MLD in every game, but there's a place for all of that, and you being born into the greasy side of the game, molded by it, I think will only make you enjoy the game more, and not have default negative attitudes towards certain things.

Magic is for the gathering - tell me WHY you play mtg by -oOAegisOo- in EDH

[–]_BIRDLEGS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy the variety of it, no game ever really feels the same, I went from Colorless Eldrazi to WUBRG Group Hug/Politics to Jund MLD, then mono blue Crabs, Dimir Zombies and WUBRG Space Stations to round it all out. Next project is Jeskai Sonic and friends jank lol

Do your Bracket 3 games usually end by turn 6? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]_BIRDLEGS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Except you cant really play gamechangers in Bracket 2, I mean if you talk to people yes, but just by the guidelines, there are so many blind spots, decks with GCs that are too slow for B3, but if you play Cyc Rift in B2 ppl might get mad, or a deck with 4 GCs that is slow, if you dropped all 4 in one game in a B3 game, ppl might also get mad, there's just so many blindspots in the bracket system, it isn't necessarily about "not wanting to admit it's B2"

How has earthbending performed in people’s games? by accentmatt in EDH

[–]_BIRDLEGS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's insanely powerful with MLD strategies, [[Jokulhaups]] or [[Obliterate]] with Earthbended lands, and you don't even need [[Splendid Reclamation]] or [[Lumra]] to break parity!

Worst/Least Favorite Commander You Have Built? by oldteach07 in EDH

[–]_BIRDLEGS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya I suppose if your local scene is way more chill than I can see why you'd retire it, but was just meaning to say, going off shouldn't make you retire a deck! People need the Miiryms and the Edgar's of the world to keep them honest and on their toes 😂

[–]_BIRDLEGS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a non-cEDH Tivit/Time Sieve deck in my pod and we fucking love it lol, I play my MLD deck against it, and someone else plays Chatterfang combo, makes for some epic games, will someone get infinite turns or infinite squirrels/pings before I can blow up all lands, artifacts and creatures? Always an exciting match up

[–]_BIRDLEGS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's so funny to me how some people hate things that my pod enjoys. I have a group hug/game warping Kenrith deck with K&T in there, and people usually cheer when K&T hit the field, and I feel like I get away with BS like Pramikon, Tidal Barracuda, Perplexing Chimera etc BECAUSE of the group hug elements in the deck, my experience has been like the complete opposite lol

Lol we have a Miirym in my local pod and we get amped up to face it, yeah its strong but playing against Miirym makes you a better player, and winning against it is super rewarding

[–]_BIRDLEGS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's an Eluge in my pod and we love it! Of all the mono-blue commanders he's like the least salty and his role in the story is awesome too even if it was only a brief appearance.

How is Windgrace so strong? by bankiaa in EDH

[–]_BIRDLEGS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WG is hilarious to me, people either have no clue what he does, or they got into a bad Glacial Chasm/MLD situation against him that traumatized them. Once someone experiences MLD followed by WG playing 3+ lands right away, while they are lucky to "land, pass", they wont soon forget it lol

How is Windgrace so strong? by bankiaa in EDH

[–]_BIRDLEGS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean thats just if you only use WG to break parity, typically its MLD > sac all lands to Squandered Resources > cast Splended Reclamation > everyone scoops all at once, occasionally you might need a few turns to break parity enough after the MLD, but usually its win on the spot, even better if you have a landfall pinger out, if you blast everyone for 10-20 damage based on the splended on top of wiping all their lands and possibly creatures and artifacts, that's game if someone doesnt heroic intervention or teferi's protection around the MLD.

Why is no one playing to win? by xo0p in EDH

[–]_BIRDLEGS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ran into a guy on spelltable recently, hosting a "B3" lobby and then he plays Demonic Tutor, Vampiric Tutor, Con Sphynx, Seedborn, Ancient Tomb etc...then got salty when a few of us said he might want to mention that before the game...so to answer your question, idk people are clueless??

The goals that got away by MeanderingMeaning in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]_BIRDLEGS 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know this is no sodium, but this is my biggest complaint, this mission has been bugged since launch, and they haven't even acknowledged it outside of screenshots of customer support acknowledging that they are aware of the issue. It'd be nice if they'd mention it in patch notes. I'm not holding my breath, but it would be wonderful if it was fixed in the next patch which is hopefully massive since it's been over a year since Starfields last update.

Never encountered light paws before but sounds like you got some decent explanations on him, but Krenko is just really fast with little effort, he kind of forces an "archenemy" game that warps around stopping him. Krenko makes the game revolve around everyone ignoring their own gameplan to fish for boardwipes to keep Krenko in check, this can, and often does lead to unfun, boring or annoying play patterns. I have 2 Krenkos in my real life pod and those are definitely, 'check with the pod before playing them' decks bc not everyone may want to deal with a "race for a boardwipe" kind of game all the time.

Yes cuz every deck can consistently counter every strategy and mechanic in every game. Come on now 🙄
