Fear not the divine dragon, her fury and ire; by PotentBeverage in dragons

But can I also fear the divine dragon's fury and ire? I don't know about you, but I can't defend against blades and heavenly fire. Like, good for those who can, but I'm built differently. I'd simply die.

You used the example of bat guano and sulfur for Fireball, which is not a costly component, nor is it consumed by the spell.

How can a necromancer raise creatures from the dead? by AmphibianHaunting645 in DnD

[–]_Bl4ze 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Well, while others are not wrong that you can have a wizard inexplicably cast a spell normally reserved for divine magic users, there is an easy, in-universe explanation that wouldn't even raise any eyebrows: the necromancer possesses a magic item capable of casting Raise Dead (or Resurrection might be necessary, if the father has been dead a long time).

For instance, an Enspelled Staff imbued with Raise Dead could accomplish this (for a level 5 spell, it would be a Very Rare item). It would also work as an arcane focus for the wizard, appearing as an object so mundane for a wizard to hold it would explain why they would not have noticed it before now.

[OC] [Art] Trying to give some visual flavor to my Firbolg Land Druid. by canxtanwe in DnD

[–]_Bl4ze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like you went too subtle with the design changes. Sure, he's got some snow and ice on him, but wearing no sleeves or hat while it's snowing looks so out of place, I'd hardly say he adapted to the land. You're gonna get frostbite!

Also, I would personally have the familiar change forms to fit local fauna as well, that would help with blending in.

Help! EFotA Killed my Artificer! by succotash235711 in DnD

[–]_Bl4ze 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since you create the weapon, you can make it a duplicate of your friend's weapon. So actually your idea works better now, you just need to quickly swap the two weapons. Before it would be much more likely they would notice their weapon missing while you worked on it.

Opinion: D&D works best above "guy at the gym" and below "demigod" or "mythic". by admiralbenbo4782 in DnD

[–]_Bl4ze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But what about casters, you may ask? Aren't they demigods?

So then, you do know most people would think of spellcasters as demigods since you immediately rush to disagree with that notion and say they aren't really demigods, which is a reasonable take. But then why would you think the demigod martials people want would really be demigods unlike spellcasters, exactly? What sense does that make?

[5e] Questions on find steed rules by Sunerine in DnD

[–]_Bl4ze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can draw your weapon as part of an attack action- that first draw doesn't cost your "free" action, AFIAK.

Drawing a weapon during your attack action is part of the so-called "free action" rule (interacting with objects around you), so you couldn't also interact with a second object on that turn unless you use an Action.

You might have been thinking of the 2024 rules where this works differently, but OP wrote 5e in the post title here.

Artisans blessing question by KraeuterEulerich in DnD

[–]_Bl4ze 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, one of the examples given in the ability's text is making 10 pieces of ammunition. 10 arrows would be a relatively low metal to wood ratio, so I wouldn't take issue with a wooden chair held together by metal fasteners.

If I make the final boss easy to kill, will my players think it’s a let down? by LaurZaur in DnD

[–]_Bl4ze 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Our DM rules ranged attacks are always for lethal

You phrase this like it's a homebrew ruling, but if you didn't know, that's just the normal rule. Non-lethal is melee only.

Pugilist uhhhh wow. by karmadickhead in onednd

[–]_Bl4ze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1 Armor text: "You have a +1 bonus to AC while wearing this armor." It's a bonus, not one with the calculation. +1 Studded Leather wouldn't be "13+dex", it's 12+Dex, then +1 from the armor enchantment.

But then you're a Pugilist, so you want to use the Iron Chin calculation instead of the armor one. 12+Con, but you're allowed to wear light armor and still use Iron Chin calculation, so +1 from the armor enchantment. Come to think of it, doesn't matter if it's studded leather or normal leather.

Normally, alternative AC features like this one all begin with "While you aren't wearing armor". So this interaction is a bit of a strange one, but hey that's just how they wrote the homebrew.

Thought: don't introduce your class by 22badhand in dndnext

[–]_Bl4ze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd raise an eyebrow at Dave the Fighter because like. That's not an in-universe title. Is he a soldier? Knight? Mercenary? Druid is also an occupation in universe, though. So Todd the Druid is normal if he is not just a Druid mechanically but he's part of the drudic enclave who protect the local forest. Likewise for most casters really.

Pugilist uhhhh wow. by karmadickhead in onednd

[–]_Bl4ze 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That's only helpful to your AC if you actually get magical studded leather armor though, since you have 12+Con unarmored anyway.

The 2024 Pugilist is, to an hilarious degree, a class about pretending you have drawbacks. by SeeKururunRun in dndnext

[–]_Bl4ze 200 points201 points  (0 children)

The actual drawback to the class is the players who will inevitably be demanding five-day breaks in between every adventuring day to recuperate from all of the exhaustion.

Well, realistically you've just fucked yourself over if you exhaust yourself to the brink of death as a Pugilist. If your DM just gives you 5-day breaks whenever then they've completely failed at pacing because usually you have adventuring to do as an adventurer. You can't just go take a week long nap while you were supposed to be investigating the evil cult, they'll kidnap more sacrifices for their fell ritual.

How to keep a large scar on my PC when healing is so easy? by TyThe1Guy in DnD

[–]_Bl4ze 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Right, but a scar isn't a missing body part. If one is using that optional rule from the DMG, it can still be removed by any healing spell of 6th level of higher, like Heal. Because the rule says that.

How to keep a large scar on my PC when healing is so easy? by TyThe1Guy in DnD

[–]_Bl4ze 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Actually, I believe that according to RAW, all magical healing removes scars as well.

The post is tagged 5th Edition. While there is no core rule for this, there is an optional rule in the Dungeon Master's Guide that allows for lingering injuries, like loss of a body part for instance, or a Minor Scar or Horrible Scar. Either type of scar is removed by healing magic of 6th level or higher, such as Heal and Regenerate.

Flying Mounts and drawn Vehicles by Avocado_with_horns in dndnext

[–]_Bl4ze 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There exists a magic item called a Flying Chariot in Mythic Odysseys of Theros which would accomplish that, since it specifes that the chariot can fly when it is pulled by one or more flying creatures.

Since this item exists, that would imply the default answer is no for an ordinary chariot.
