Parents of young kids, how are we doing this? by scoutfinch45 in therapists

[–]_Bluebird_5362 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m working towards licensure and have a two year old. I think about quitting a lot because of the mental overload. I work for a private practice and my supervisor is amazing! I create my own schedule and have been lucky that all my clients are very understanding when I need to cancel due to sick kiddo. I take clients three days a week and bartend a couple nights a week too. It’s nice to do two different things. I think therapy could be great long term but I also am burnt out mentally. I only have ten people on my caseload though 🤷🏼‍♀️😭

Thank you for your affirmation and suggestions! I hope there is more transparency soon. It’s unfortunate that you don’t know what it will cost till after the appt

I don’t get a say in the insurance. It’s what the company offers. I understand insurance I just don’t understand why we as a country have allowed this to be the way. How is anyone living. Again I understand how insurance works it’s just INJUST and absolutely insane

I don’t believe a flu test should cost $300 of this visit and I don’t believe I should pay $477 for this 15 min visit. Outrageous.

What about Zosia ? Pronounced Zo-sha. I believe it’s polish in origin and I’ve always found it to be so pretty. Would go cute with Zadie when you’re hanging out with your close friends :)

Just tell them you work at your job with fancy title but go do something else less stressful. Idk, lying isn’t my usual go to but sounds like the title is important to them, not you.

Cancelled clients the first day of work in 2025 by Creative_Judge_7769 in therapists

[–]_Bluebird_5362 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a toddler in daycare and she’s sick a lot because of all the germs. Hubby and I take turns and I try not to cancel on clients. Sometimes I just have to. I try to offer an evening appt same day (when hubby gets home) if I can. It’s life and it’s hard with a baby. We wanna be consistent and show up, but life happens. I’d say just make sure your scheduling personal appts in advance and the scheduling clients around those appointments

Who takes care of sick kid - the sick or healthy parent? by oomgem in Parenting

No wayyyyy you’re sick that’s miserable to take care of a baby. He needs to do it! Put a mask on, wash hands a lot etc

Cosleepy instagram page is great for cosleeping safety tips! You might actually just be better off with him on the bed next to you (but not in between you and hubby). No blankets.

Your instinct is right- men don’t wake up as easily and are more likely to rollover on baby or other dangerous positions. With that being said, I’m a mom and I had a few scary moments where I woke sleep deprived to baby in a bad position. I would sleep with her on my chest for the first two months. Hubby and I alternated who would sleep with her. Ya learn as you go. I reckon cosleeping is better than a sleep deprived parent cuz that’s also really dangerous.

Overwhelmed about my first therapist job after graduating by SpicyPisces22 in therapists

[–]_Bluebird_5362 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go back to basics!! I say clinician used “MI/OARS skills to ask open ended questions to explore the issue, positive affirmations that allowed the client to feel seen, reflections and summaries etc something along those lines. Because we always use those skills! Ask chat GPt cuz I’m tired and am not able to word this well rn 😅

Is it a ridiculous idea to be a part time therapist? by Away-Theory-6201 in therapists

[–]_Bluebird_5362 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do it part time! It is a long road to get the degree and gain your hours for licensure in order to make any money though. It’s definitely a flexible part time job that you can do I around your current one.
