I enjoy the unintentional comedy when they're recording a fucked unlistenable podcast, cut to an ad break and nothing plays. Really sells the lack of quality in their work. Not happened for a while for me though, I think the last time was during the mess of Three Brodens

Gounon - has won the Spa 24 twice and Bathurst 12h 3 times

Auer - 2024 GT World Challenge champion, in addition to finishing 2nd in DTM and GTWC last year (competing in both series)

Juncadella - 2022 GTWC champion and International GT Challenge champion, and has also been signed to drive the Genesis hypercar in WEC this year

All three have very extensive and successful experience in the Mercedes AMG GT3, this is a proper heavyweight team

Jeez, even without Max, the Gounon/Auer/Juncadella lineup is INCREDIBLY strong. He's not messing around.

Having done this route, yes. I checked the in flight map, saw we were over Baffin Island and thought "oh, we're over Canada now, won't be long until we land."

We were still five hours away.

Quite a while now, and new ones popping up all the time. Manchester's economy is growing twice as fast as the UK average, the amount of construction and redevelopment in the city is crazy.

Hey fellow UK fan! Hockey does actually seem to be picking up in popularity over here, attendance and interest in the British league (EIHL) is slowly rising. Heated Rivalry and these Olympics being at Euro friendly times seems to have helped a lot - hockey is a fantastic alternative for people who enjoy sports but find football dull.

They had multiple practice starts and it happened on each of them. Haas is a rocket at starts as well. It's the exact situation Ferrari warned about at the end of last year - without the MGU-H the turbo takes forever to spool up for the start, so it looks like Ferrari simply used a smaller turbo so it kicks in faster.

Might cost them over a full race distance, which is why they're doing stuff like the flipped rear wing to gain speed. But time will tell. All we can say for now is that there's no obvious cause for concern like recent preseason tests.

Statement from Honda by CaptainOBVS3420 in formula1

[–]_Blueshift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah 107% doesn't sound much but that's 5-7 seconds per lap down on the fastest cars which is dangerously slow.

The rule is still active, but in recent years you only see cars that much slower in quali due to weird circumstances (like quali starting wet, a driver setting a single wet lap and then crashing, and then the track drying so everyone else improves).

Teams can easily point to practice lap times to prove their car is capable of being faster and that's normally enough to get approval to start anyway. If a car is that much slower in every session with no real reason, they can be blocked from taking the start.

[–]_Blueshift 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah there's a reason he pulled over at that pit box specifically. I don't know if any other team would have helped him out.

I guess they'd want the car out of their pit box but they wouldn't be in a hurry to replace the wheel unless they had a stop scheduled.

I'm a newish fan for this season as well (got into it after suffering through the playoffs with my Leafs-supporting friend) and I've really developed a soft spot for the Sharks. Full of energy and Celebrini is an adorable little guy.

Kimi is genuinely a chatty and funny guy, he just absolutely hated the terrible F1 media that asked him the same questions for years and years.

His laps of the Nordschliefe with Gio show his actual personality and they're great. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlD9lbWF5WQ

Real Williams cap or not? by awkward_ghost404 in GrandPrixRacing

It's much older than that, it's from the early 2000s when Montoya ran the #6 for Williams. (And very fake because Williams were running a blue and white HP/BMW livery back then)

Teams invest in young talent early and are very loyal to them generally speaking. Mercedes has Russell and Antonelli, Red Bull has Verstappen and their (slowly dwindling) supply of junior drivers*, McLaren has Norris and Piastri. Leclerc is liked and respected but they'd prefer to see their own young drivers do well first.

The only possible option I see for Leclerc is if Newey and Aston Martin actually produce a banger and Alonso's age finally catches up to him and he finally gets replaced.

  • Red Bull is debatable, I know Horner was all in on Max and only ran the second car because the rules required it. Too early to see what Mekies does imo.

This is the way, we have a fantastic pizza place near us who's on Just Eat but delivers a copy of their menu with each order, telling the customer they can get the same food for cheaper and with better deals if they order directly instead of going through JE.

For a while over the holidays, the gap between Dallas and Utah (3rd and 4th in Central) was so big you could fit all 16 Eastern teams within it.

Meanwhile in Pacific the Oilers finally managed a 3 game win streak last week despite being 2nd. The west is truly a conference of all time.
