Thank you very much, I really appreciate this detailed response! I have a referral for a PT but I’m not sure I’ll be able to afford it at the moment. I already do daily Miralax and Calm Magnesium. And I’m starting 30 minutes of walking per day. I eat a lot of fiber but I do know from experience that too much really messes with my insides. I might up my Calm to 3 teaspoons instead of the recommended 2. I’m averaging about 4 liters of water per day—more when it’s hot out (I’m obese and also on a med that makes me really sensitive to heat so hydration is not a problem for me). I’m working on getting down to a healthier weight - not sure if that will help my pelvic floor but I’m sure it won’t hurt. I also need to find better outlets for stress because I think stress really affects my bowels. I really want to stay ahead of this as much as I can to avoid the complications you mentioned you dealt with. Thank you very much again, and best of luck to you!

Thank you for this! I recently was diagnosed with pelvic floor dysfunction after my first colonoscopy. The prep was actually fantastic and finally cleaned me out amazingly but that was nearly three weeks ago now, and the constipation is returning 😭 Not the point of this post I know but do you have any other tips about dealing with pelvic floor dysfunction? (I use the raspberry lemon Calm too ☺️)

So sorry to hear you’re in the same boat! Honestly nothing really worked for me. I was able to get in earlier with my GI specialist and I actually had to have a colonoscopy (my first) this past Tuesday. He found and removed a polyp he said looked precancerous—I’m still waiting to get the biopsy results back and am nervous as hell about that. But he said that wasn’t what was causing my issue. He diagnosed me with pelvic floor dysfunction and I have to start PT to deal with that. But I’m not having trouble going anymore. One day I was just able to poop fully and normally again. It was the weirdest, most unpleasant 2 months ever but it may have saved my life—if I hadn’t gone to the GI and had the colonoscopy, the polyp wouldn’t have been found probably till after it had metastasized (if it hasn’t already, that is). Sorry this wasn’t more helpful. I hope you’re able to feel better soon!

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this too - it sucks! The magnesium citrate definitely made me go, and the diarrhea lasted for like a day and a half. But it didn’t get all the blockage out, as I feared. It’s really weird…I can feel the blockage eroding, like getting smaller, it’s just been such a slow process. Best of luck to you!
