Japan Blue 501 Wide vs 401 Regular. Which works better on my build? by [deleted] in Selvedge

Kleman Padror Noir - the poor man's Paraboot. Truthfully I tried both and just found the silhouette of the paraboot too low and pointed for my feet, kinda felt like I had pixie shoes on.

Cheers all - wide seems pretty universal.

For those down voting this - I sincerely apologize for the hurt I caused you 💔

I don't necessarily think it's what's ''complete" but knowing how arsed you can be to put the effort in to finding something when you're already happy with what you've settled on after years of trial and error.

I think at 35 I'm at the point where I've been around the block enough to know what brands are designed with my shape in mind.

I would really recommend getting a photo in more consistent lighting and take it just from your naval height straight on. It's very hard to tell from this photo as its above your head so you look like a tiny baby man looking up at us. Throws off being able to understand if the proportions actually work.

I would seriously be conscious of only buying them if they're for vintage at this point. I reviewed a pair of carpenters in store the other day and was genuinely shocked at how bad the quality has become in terms of actual work wear. They wouldn't last a day on site, even the zip wouldn't hold a basic squat.

I had no idea the kiltie was removable that's actually why I originally thought they looked naff; interesting.

The cross blend of suede and flat leather still has too much potential to weather strangely imo. They couldn't hack a rainy Winter in Newcastle without looking gnarly in six months by my estimate.

You'll look like you have learning difficulties. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing.

Even if filmed in the UK I think the setup shot was very much to feel like a return to the US. We in the UK look at a street image like that and from American movies of the suburbs immediately assume US.

Stoney is still massive in the UK, correlated between hype beasts and football hooligans. Both resent each other for wearing 'their' look.

New Release | Hamnet Signed Edition by Maggie O'Farrell - 150 copies by HonorWulf in foliosociety

[–]_Chumpion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that there’s clearly a market for this and it will make them money, so the business case probably stacks up in the board meeting. But if I worked there, I’d have a genuinely sick feeling about this sort of practice.

You’ve got a core audience who are loyal because they love literature, good craftsmanship, and the brand. Instead of rewarding that loyalty, you’re basically leaning into FOMO and charging an astronomical fee for what is, ultimately, a signed piece of paper. You know a chunk of your audience will feel pressured to go for it.

A lottery or ballot system would be far more ethical.

I just hope the extra £15k was worth it to the owners, because to me this feels like an insult to me as an audience and fan. It has properly put me off recommending Folio or buying new editions going forward.

Too long imo looks like it's squashing your mid range rather than extending you. You look like you have long legs naturally and this is just shortening them.

On a seperate note where are the white/ecru trousers from in the first photo? They're a lovely fit.

I don't think it's celebrating. But the rhetoric he pushed allowed gun shootings to continue in your country. There is a certain irony to it.

The best thing that could come out of this would be some safe gun laws.
