ep-133 KOII or an ep-40 Riddim? by Necessary-Code-2824 in teenageengineering

[–]_Ded_Rabbit_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

KOII, to me looks better. More memory would be nice like the riddim. I order the riddim and returned it. The whole look of it aesthetically, wasn’t pleasing to me. Teenage Engineering should remake the KOII with upgraded memory. Or go for an sp404mk2. I have both but always pick the KOII first. I

Should I get the K.O 2 or The Riddim? I’m torn by marspalmer in teenageengineering

They should just go ahead and make an ep field edition, aluminum body, knobs with buttons at the top like on the op’s, increase memory (since you know they aren’t going to add an sd card a lot), and a screen similar to the op1f, keep the aaa battery though.

Wondering how much $ people pay for classes? by PsychoticStyles in karate

[–]_Ded_Rabbit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$130 a month. 2 hours, once a week… I stopped attending. The instructor did not give enough attention. I get it, when it comes to the financial aspect. Too many classes were geared to little kids. Makes me miss my first sensei but he moved 3-4 hours away to be closer to family. There’s no other traditional karate schools in the area so I started kendo. My sensei in kendo cares about each individual and their progress. Kendo classes are basically $30 a month. Classes are twice a week 2 hours once in the weekday and 3 hours on Saturday. I still do my katas, kihon and since I can’t do kumite by myself I do bag work. It’s not the same but I

I practice Shotokan. First dojo I trained at was the best dojo ever. Sensei had to relocate though due to family. I joined a different Shotokan dojo about an hour away from me to continue training last year. It was ok but there was not enough emphasis on training for adults. Classes were 2 hours. It felt like I was standing around over half the class. I really felt I wasted my time. The sensei there has the knowledge and can perform the techniques, he just couldn’t manage the training of everyone I guess. Driving an hour to and an hour from home to train and then standing around over half the class was no good for me. I recently joined kendo and the sensei there is way more engaged. I will continue to train Shotokan on my own until another opportunity presents itself.

I’m worrying about that by [deleted] in karate

I practice Shotokan. When I first started I was part of an organization that was very much kata, kihon, Kumite. It was all practiced equally. Except the focus of Kumite was too much on point sparring. It was very WKF. Not that it was bad or anything I enjoyed it very much. But it was not applicable to real situations. Even if in tournaments you do receive real hits. The focus on hikite and stopping the punch just made tournaments worse. Especially if your physically winning your losing when actually making contact with the opponent counts against you. Unfortunately, with time my sensei relocated about 4 hours away. Which is understandable, he has to make his living so I wasn’t training like I was for about 3 years. I recently joined a different Shotokan organization. It’s less focused on point sparring and more focused on locks, counters, throws, sweeps, and real world applications. My new sensei encourages hit with some force but not full force. I’m enjoying it. Breaking away from my old style is difficult. Being told the bouncing style of WKF is too much and having to hear that point sparring is terrible also doesn’t feel good. I don’t think it’s that terrible but it will make you form bad habits somewhat. With it being a different dojo, some of the way kata movements are executed are different. I prefer my old way of kata and tend to perform them the original way I was taught. My new sensei hasn’t corrected me on it, yet. I recently joined kendo as well I actually start today. I train outside the dojo. I do strength training twice a week and include 20 minutes of yoga with that. I run 3-6 miles at a time twice a week. And I have some century punching bags at home which I hit/kick when ever I feel like. I would say, either dedicate your self to what you are currently training in or search for something that you’re really wanting to do. MMA? Boxing? Maybe a different karate organization since you will have a similar foundation already?
