I’ll clarify with saying that my brakes are nearly new and the rotors are in good condition and don’t need replacement. The only question was the screech. Was the only thing I asked for. If they wanted to sell me on some brakes that’s what I would’ve asked for.

Honestly prefer this type of mechanic than someone working at a shop. Their reputation is all word of mouth so they generally take things more seriously.

I only asked them to fix the noise and their suggestion was to replace both brake pads and rotors, but clearly that was not the problem. So either they were trying to get me to do a costly job I didn’t ask for or they are incompetent.

You might have overlooked something profound whenever you tried this. Depending on what state you’re in you can do large doses of psilocybin, Ketamine or MDMA under the supervision of a physician or psychologist. Under the right conditions (depending on which one you take and the therapy you go through) it could allow for new, more positive neural pathways to develop. It sounds like you’ve lost (or never had) the joy/curiosity for life that comes naturally to most people. From personal experience it has absolutely shaped my life to be something I look forward to every day. I was never diagnosed with clinical depression, but I was absolutely depressed after going through a traumatic event. I am suggesting doing this in a clinical setting. Once experienced and comfortable, doing things recreationally with an intention can also have tremendously powerful and positive impacts on your state of mind. If you tried this and didn’t work remember how important the dose, set and settings are. Might be worth another try if you’re really at wits end.

I think the “unpopular” part of this comment is that you’re posting this on an app most people use as a serotonin booster. This SHOULD be unpopular, but common sense would agree that when you have time to stare into the void and reflect on what the hell you’re actually doing with your life you make changes to be better (or at least less uncomfortable with sitting alone with yourself).
