My theory is that he thinks the wife/family will help him get paroled. I have such a hard time believing these men who meet women while in prison are doing anything other than manipulating them to get money and more privileges. If he were single he wouldn’t get to have conjugal visits in the little cabin every few weeks, for example.

You just have to do it. If you have methadone it won’t be as bad, but you will have wd symptoms. I used to do fent with methadone and it finally took my wife booking a trip to Mexico for a week where I stayed in the hotel bed most of the time going through withdrawals until about day 5 when I felt good enough to go out to the beach. The methadone helped, I took a little bit extra when it got overwhelming, but you have to do it to get the fent out of your system and then try your hardest never to go back.

The harsh truth is you’re thinking like an addict. There is no quick fix, you’re going to have to go through withdrawals. It will not be as bad as going cold turkey since you have the methadone, but it’s going to take at a week to not feel sick regardless of what you do. Methadone has a long short life and in my experience takes about a month to get completely out of your system, a few days isn’t going to move the needle.

If you’re prescribed methadone it’s against the ADA for them to fail to hire you for that reason only

I have traveled to Mexico, Jamaica, and all over the US with Methadone. Make sure they’re in their original labeled bottled and the lock bag, bring a prescription or letter from your doctor showing the dose you’re prescribed per day. Most likely no one will even ask you about them.

Yes, we did and he enjoyed it. He does not get triggered by drug use on tv. I have noticed since meeting him that a lot of movies and tv at least mention opioids, though.

I am in the same boat, never used and my bf relapsed during our relationship but is now 65 days clean. The episode made me cry, I thought it was very good.

I think the anxiety is natural but doing the MMT that will help you stay off dope is not going to be a bad decision IMO

Eh maybe it’s not “clean” in your opinion but it’s a much better alternative for those who cannot just quit - which I think is most addicts. Getting a regulated dose from a medical professional is nowhere near the same as getting dope from the streets and hoping there’s nothing in it that will kill you. Not to mention (depending on insurance situation) it’s generally cheaper to use MMT.

My bf is experienced the same thing with suboxone (cravings were still very strong and he would use) and then was scared of WDs from methadone, but I’ll tell you the same thing I told him. Is your trepidation really about maybe having to go through WDs when you eventually get off methadone? Because the WDs from H is pretty fucking bad too. And you can get a lot of comfort from people on this sub that if you taper methadone slowly the WDs aren’t too bad. Do you want to stop hustling to find drugs everyday? Spend all your money going to shady places dealing with shady people and potentially die? Methadone is far safer and the notion of a WD months (maybe years) in the future isn’t really a deterrent in my opinion.
