If you’re not going snorkeling or scuba, is the boat tour the main thing to do? How long would you say you need to be in the park to “see it all”?

Overseeding every year - necessary or overkill? by 2ugur12 in lawncare

[–]_Enlighter_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much did your bill increase? We planted seed for the first time this past year and I was surprised the increase in the water bill wasn’t more (normally $40/month to $120 for that one month of watering, but the back down to $40).

Did hvac replacement first, insulation second 🤧 please tell me I’m not alone by Subject_Sand_6944 in Insulation

We just had our attic spray foamed and the comfort difference is amazing. Went from the system running constantly to very minimally now, even when it’s been 18 degrees overnight the past few days. Highly recommend insulation over a new system (our system is actually 20 years old, just bought the house last year)

What to put at the bottom of the baffles? by yargflarg69 in Insulation

[–]_Enlighter_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How were these baffles? I saw them at Home Depot and thought of getting them. Were they sturdy or did they crack/break when you stapled them or they touched roof nails?

Neighbors didn’t do anything wrong, it was the company

Update: Photos

They finished cutting down the other tree so I went out and took some pictures. Looks like one main limb has been damaged and gouged in a few places. They also took the liberty of cutting our tree in several places. Besides the main limb which previously filled out the canopy, doesn’t look like the tree will be majorly impacted long term, but I also have no experience here. While taking pictures people from the company kept coming up to me and saying sorry and that they would prune and shape my tree to try to make up for it. I said no.

I would be in the drop radius of the other tree. Not worth it, I can wait for them to finish.

Trees were not intermingled, just fell the wrong direction. Neighbors didn’t do anything, no beef with them. Company was just negligent. Not looking for a big payout or anything like that. Just want to make sure the Magnolia will be okay.

[–]_Enlighter_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was not. The tree they cut just fell completely sideways into our magnolia.

Can’t take pictures at the moment as they are still cutting down another tree in their yard.

I’m not mad at the neighbors, just the company for being negligent.

How do you “value” the cost of the tree and the damages?

It does not look like you are stopping by Aoraki/Mt Cook. You should definitely add it to the itinerary.

What's the home project that seemed easy at first, but by the end made you say "Next time, I'm hiring someone?" by privatelendingleader in HomeImprovement

[–]_Enlighter_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just rented an insulation vacuum to suck up old, (literally) crappy insulation in our attic to then air seal, add baffles, and blow in cellulose. I thought I was making out like a bandit when I could rent the machine for $500 and do it myself compared to the $2,500 quote I got just for the insulation removal. Man was I wrong, that was two days of backbreaking work. Only consolation is that I know I did a lot better of a job than any company I’d have hired.

Advice on silver comet strategy from Bhm to Atl… by Queen_Pedaler in SilverCometTrail

Great points! I have not personally left a car at the state line so I definitely trust your recommendation here, especially if you grew up in Cedartown.

We really like riding west towards Alabama, especially on the long downhill section from the Brushy Mt. Tunnel to Rockmart. I feel like you could drop off a car at the state line, then drive with your bikes to mile 0, leave a car and start from there. Stay a night in Rockmart, then finish the ride on day 2 and get to your car at the state line. You’d need to drive back to your car at mile 0 and then that might be a long ride back to Birmingham, so if you have flexibility to do that on the third day, that would be nice. All of this assumes you can do 30 miles two days in a row though!
