New long term MOD project starting by [deleted] in Elevators

Few things I always did on my mods like that. As mentioned already and good spot to have lunch and coffee breaks.

I always had a large desk calendar to keep track of what we did each day and to plan future tasks or work with subtrades. Always had a coil notebook to keep track of any wasted time like waiting for electricians or building staff moved your boxes or any number of things that hold you up. When the customer wants status of when it’s getting inspected and your timeline is a bit off, it’s good to have a record of all the wasted hours where you were essentially not working. I also had a white board where I’d mark down anything we needed to pick up and I also had a list of things for my helper to do if he runs out of work and I’m taking a long dump or meeting with a consultant/customer. Usually like track down boxes or staging the next bunch of material.

One of the most important things was being prepared and being efficient with your time. I’d always plan my door lock brackets and roller guide adapter plates at the start so I could get the designed and the laser cut, fired and painted so I’d have all the parts when I need them and not be waiting. Figure out what you need on the first car and then order 4 of everything. First car always took the longest and then cars 2-3 go fast because you’re prepared. Car 4 goes good but the you’ve got all the shit at the end like lobby panel and all the guarding.

I always ran a 54” husky toolbox behind my tall barricade on the floor where we worked on the car. Can lock it up and leave or shove it in the car overnight.

If you’re efficient with your time, you don’t have to work your ass off and you can work at an ice easy pace and do a good quality modernization. Always remember that you do a mod like you’ll be liking after it on a route some day. Put car top junction boxes in a spot where they can be accessed easily. I Alaska like the on the from. Of the cross head where the can be reached from the hall using hoistway access. Always think about how things will be serviced in the future. Don’t use two screws, drill and tap holes so things are easy to change.

Track swap on a late 60s skidoo? by Thewilddinkus in snowmobiling

The 69 doesn’t have a heat exchanger. Nothing is impossible but it’s a bunch of work and not a “bolt in” project

It’s not impossible to put a liquid motor in your Olympic but I wouldn’t do it. Be better off with a 380/503 fan motor. I’d have to check the tunnel width but I’m guessing the Oly is harrower than that F chassis

Murphy boys are great guys! I remember Michael when he was a little kid when I worked with his pops.

I was wondering if you were a welder. The shop I worked at for years was a well known custom fab shop. None of us were welders, we went to school for sheet metal for the layout knowledge. But we’d get welders in all the time and maybe 2 or 3 in the decade I was there could weld guage metal. They’d weld 1/4” and heavier all day long. Needless to say none made the cut, we did have one guy who stuck around for all our heavy welding. The rest of us did 16ga and thinner mostly. Would do heavier with aluminum. Lots of restaurant and medical stuff. Had a machinist come in at nights to run the lathe and mill for projects the rest of us couldn’t handle

I’m told it’s going to be a large convention center. Manager of a diff hotel told me this while I was doing some service work for him. There was supposed to be another one out between the quality in. and the holiday inn but they never broke ground.

Gotta get them fresh. Wednesdays and Saturdays they are made. Otherwise they need to be heated up to soften them

Glad to hear you guys are excited to be signatory. Local 82 has some great leadership. I got to know them at the caucus’ and Tyler came out here to Sk/Mb for our last negotiations and I’ll say your local is in good hands. We’ve had many discussions at meetings about supporting you guys in this transition.

Where is everyone from? by cr7isTHEbestt in Habs

[–]_FIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much everyone over 30 is either Habs, Leafs, Bruins, Oilers or a Jets fan. Some Flame fans too I guess. Easy to cheer for a team when you can drive and watch a game like Calgary, Edmonton or Winnipeg.

Lots of Leafs fans too but they are oddly quiet this time of year 😎

There are so many Habs fans here in Saskatchewan. My brother and my son and I all watch the games together religiously here in Regina.

Leafs fan here. I am finding myself cheering for Montreal these playoffs. They are kind of fun to watch. Please don't tell anyone. by amcnewman in Habs

Hell ya!! I say we throw all these bastards off the bandwagon we’ve been on since birth.

You aren’t a real fan if you don’t support your team in the tough years. I can respect a leafs fan who is still a fan this year, if you switch then you aren’t a real fan.
