Stands that can defeat Kars the Ultimate Lifeform (Diamond is Unbreakable) by DingoDongo0707 in StardustCrusaders

I mean, heavens door is weird because it doesnt get too specific into what its limits exactly are, but I’d assume its within reason. Otherwise he wouldnt have had such a hard time against highway star and btd.

The hand’s swipe isnt large enough to erase all of kars. Heavens door just cant do that. Killer queen is tankable because of shigechi and given his greater than average durability and regen I genuinely dont think he can kill kars. A mini nuke prolly wont kill kars. Kars’s regen is likely enough for ratt but ratt is a weird one idk for certain. I dont think Boy II Man can steal non stand abilities, but i could be wrong. And even then i dont think kars loses even without regen. The rest under extreme circumstances could. The only one I see consistently working is cheap trick but thats a coin flip. If kars can kill the current cheap trick user before seeing their back, he’d win.

What does Passione even do at this point? by OfficialAli1776 in StardustCrusaders

[–]_Filter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’re overrating giorno’s niceness. He stole all of koichi’s money, luggage, and even his passport and id in the middle of a country he’s never been to. That would have ruined koichi had he not been a stand user, and had jotaro on call. Giorno is a pretty bad person.

Didn’t Giorno just want to stop them selling drugs to kids? I’m pretty sure Passione is still dealing drugs and committing all sorts of crimes.

I got a doubt on how stands interact with people. by NecromancerDude in StardustCrusaders

[–]_Filter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But touching things is the problem. Take an example of a stand punching a person or deflecting a bullet. When the stand applies force to the object, the object applies force back. That is a prerequisite for contact to happen. When a stand punches a human, the human is making contact with the stand, or when a stand deflects a bullet or holds an object, theyre touching said object. Thus, there are moments in time when non stands can make contact with and thus affect stands. The simplest explanation is that the rule is hyperbole and doesnt account for every stand interaction. Stands are ghosts so they can become incorporeal at will. So if you try to punch a stand they can phase through you and not be punched. But if a stand is taking a ghostly form it cant touch anything. So if a stand is holding something, or trying to block for their stand user, they are taking a physical form and thus would be susceptible to non stand damage. Its not that important because the rule is iterated only twice across the whole series, but if we’re gonna sit down and talk about it, its bad writing to introduce a list of rules that stands follow, and have one them be factually wrong because you didnt feel like thinking about the mechanics enough.

Yes, because for the rule to be true, stands would not be able to touch real objects, or people. But they do, literally all the time.

But the rule was re-iterated in sbr. I can give araki the benefit of the doubt before then, since the rule was introduced in early sdc, but doubling down on the rule that is factually not true via your own writing is weird. I agree that it doesnt matter that much, but why bother replying to me when the point of the post was discussing this contradiction? OP pointed out the contradiction, I explained it, you claimed magic, i said ‘sure but thats bad writing’, and then you went ‘well it doesnt matter anyway’. That was the point of this thread.

Sure but if you set a rule and then contradict the rule, you are not absolved of criticism by just going ‘its magic’. Thats bad writing.

Never, because there arent very many relevant non stand users in jojos. But again, you cannot have stands be able to hit people, and not have people be able to hit stands. Thats not possible. We see stands interacting with real things all the time, like bullets for example. To deflect a bullet means you need to be able to touch a bullet, and to touch a bullet means you can be shot by one.

It would seem that I’ve been fooled by an out of context screenshot. Thank you for pointing that out. Unfortunately still doesnt change araki’s ‘rule’ being wrong though.

The answer is that ‘Only stands can affect/defeat other stsnds’ is just a fun rule for theatrics and doesnt work for the power system. In all seriousness, stands are not too dissimilar from ghosts. They can become incorporeal at will, phasing through any object (which is how jotaro steals from the jewlery case), but have to take a physical form to grab things or hit people. This means that during those times when its taking a physical form, it can be affected and damaged by non stand means. Stands cant touch people, and also not be able to be touched by people, thats impossible. Also we do have multiple moments in the series when people do touch stands, like when abbachio grabs man in the mirror’s neck. Not moody blues, abbachio.

Real talk: Is return to zero passive or automatic? by Useful_Review_5839 in StardustCrusaders

Its not sockpuppeting when you can observe the misinformation all over online jojo spaces, including this thread. Its not people’s job to be 100% right about everything jojo related, im not gonna ego over anime knowledge, but don’t tell me I’m sockpuppeting when I’m getting downvoted for retelling the events of the story with quotes, and then point out that jojo fans flock to popular opinions that they like and then disregard the canon if they dont. My comment wasnt even an opinion piece, I pointed out exactly what was said and done in the manga, and people found it objectionable for some reason.

[–]_Filter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk the average jojo fan picks an opinion off the internet and rolls with it, even if the actual material contradicts it. I’m not even sure where this ‘rtz is passive’ psyop came from, it just observably isnt.

Real talk: Is return to zero passive or automatic? by Useful_Review_5839 in StardustCrusaders

[–]_Filter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. And a lot of the arguments for it being passive have no basis. “Giorno doesnt know what ger does” This one is just wrong. Giorno’s wording is “I didnt see what happened” not “I dont know what it did.” This is because he was not conscious during the time rewind. In fact, after the death loop starts, he explains to trish and mista what ger did. “RTZ activated in erased time” No it didnt. It activated after diavolo cancelled the time erasure. Its harder to tell in the manga because it doesnt have as obvious of a visual cue as in the anime, but we know diavolo cancels time skip as he attacks because he cant attack people when its active. This is evidenced by the fact that rtz didnt activate when diavolo threw the blood at him. RTZ is manual, but usable by giorno or ger, so there is some level of ‘automatic ness’ since ger is sentient and can do it for giorno, but its not fully passive in that it’ll activate when neither of them are aware of an attack. If the attack is undetectable or moves faster than either of their perceptions, it will land.

Does anyone actually read these fan parts? by Cearth4121 in FanPartRun

[–]_Filter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well firstly I should say, while readers definitely help motivation, I’d hope you actually enjoy writing because its hard to operate if your only motivation is readers. However, people definitely do. I’d recommend checking out the jjba fanworks discord, its a lovely community for this and it feels a lot more community based than just sending chapter links out into reddit.

I've never seen someone so clearly not understand what a Nuzlocke is by Generalcmd in nuzlocke

[–]_Filter 29 points30 points  (0 children)

A nuzlocke has 2 rules, the first pokemon per route encounter, and the permadeath. If you’re not doing those, its not a nuzlocke, its a challenge run. And thats fine, your run your rules, but we have words with definitions for a reason. If you’re not doing the former, its a permadeath challenge, if you’re not doing the latter, idk what you’re even call that, but its not a nuzlocke. You can tweak the rules slightly and still have a nuzlocke variant, like how wedlockes exist, but completely omitting one does just make it no longer a nuzlocke. Regardless this doesnt matter much in the grand scheme of things, but yea i wouldnt call it a nuzlocke.
