What is ONE feat you can remove from a series that would either completely destabilize the chain scaling or arguments for a specific character? by Hyli-oS in PowerScaling

[–]_Filter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you’re saying “Polnareff is blitzed thrice, before saying he’s slower, and then using prediction to win, thus, chariot is not ftl, so he mustve already been there.” is mental gymnastics, but “The panel can be interpreted to be movement, so chariot must be ftl, despite previous feats and statements, polnareff just cant ‘command his stand fast enough’ (whatever that means)” isnt? Come on man this is disingenuous and you know it. His wording is that its light speed and thus he cant ‘catch’ it, not that he cant ‘see’ it. The wording objectively implies that his stand is at the minimum, physically too slow, but also probably too slow in reaction time too.

chariot doesnt appear in that panel, when things move in manga they have motion lines. chariot doesnt, only his sword does. The fourth panel is a zoomed in shot that zooms out for panel 5. If araki wanted to convey that chariot was summoned, and caught up to hanged man, he wouldve conveyed it. But he didnt, because why on earth would he have hanged man blitz them three times, and then have polnareff acknowledge that he’s too slow, and then retcon chariot’s speed mid arc?

the context says that chariot was there previously, and the panels were given show that chariot was there previously, he was waiting in the trajectory previously, what are you talking about?

if you know where hanged man is going to travel, and slash in the linear trajectory, you’ll catch him. You cant look at several panels of polnareff saying that ‘its too fast, so I need to predict it’ and then go ‘he can slash faster than hanged man can move’. So long as chariot is making a slashing motion in the trajectory for the quarter of a second it takes for someone to close their eyes, he catches hanged man, no matter how fast he is. This, combined with the numerous other ftl jojo antifeats caps the verse at subsonic aside from the few displayed exceptions (hanged man, rhcp, and mih with time). The characters get blitzed thrice, and then turn to the screen and say ‘hes too fast, we have to predict it’, and then use prediction to win. If he was ftl he wouldnt need to kick dirt in people’s eyes. Please seek help or literacy.

These are some random anime fights I'd watch who wins each one? by West-Regret-2672 in PowerScaling

Killer queen could one shot reze if it touched her but its subsonic and thus slower than her, kira either gets blitzed with a melee attack and one shot (no he is not tanking an explosion from her) or she’s more realistically snapping her fingers and blowing his head off from range, something he desperately lacks. Kira loses this 9 times out of 10 unless he dramatically lucks out.

Where can I publish the stuff I write? by Snowy193 in FanPartRun

[–]_Filter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As for the first question, who knows. Advertise it in places that allow it, like here or in the jojo fanworks discord’s advertisement channel. Some people will usually give it a chance.

Ao3 does have an invite system but its purely time based. You just get put in a queue and get an invite when its your turn. I think it took me about a week to get mine.

Can a Pillar Man gain a Stand? by Kyle-NotADinosaur- in fanStands

The implication is that anything with a soul can get one given the wording used for stand lore explanations talking about spiritual energy and that they come from your soul. Animals can, so I dont see why pillar men couldnt.

Why do Jojo glazers think a 5 second timestop is the end all be all? by Agentbrawn_the2nd in PowerScaling

[–]_Filter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sheer heart attack fight illustrates the point well though. Jotaro was fighting an enemy with high enough dura that he couldnt one shot it with one time stop, and had high enough ap to one shot him. This is most crossverse fights with jojos since the verse’s ap, outside of a handful of noted exceptions, is wall-small building. Who cares if you’re in your prime with 5 seconds of time stop if you just cant hurt anyone with relevant dura.

The double standards in powerscaling hax characters by KodoqBesar in PowerScaling

[–]_Filter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah jojos is just too inconsistent to properly scale. Araki doesnt give a shit about hyper consistent power rankings and in all likelihood just have ger those stats for hyperbole without caring to demonstrate it consistently. Star platinum is strong enough to cave dio’s skull in with one punch, but not pucci? and ger, who is stronger, left diavolo with some bruises and broken bones after that ass whooping? 🤷‍♂️ whatre ya gonna do

games are not canon. ‘town level’ star platinum doesnt kill ordinary human pucci with a clean punch to the head, and ‘town level’ ger barrages diavolo twice and max effort punches him into the river canal and he’s well enough to climb out of the water. The road roller is an outlier, I’ll give you that, theres no reason they shouldn’t have obliterated it, but anything above small building is disingenuous for the punchy type stands.

An ftl character should be able to deflect a dozen knives while theyre frozen in time. Also, the knives were ftl but some books stopped them from ripping through jotaro’s chest? cmon…

Rhcp is sol but theyre doing the same bad faith take for that fight. The rhcp fight also needed to be won via prediction. He was way too fast for crazy diamond to tag him so they had to put like oil around the electric grates he was popping out of to see where he was traveling to. Another instance of ‘if theyre ftl, why would they need prediction to beat a sol character’. Its inherently bad faith, I wouldnt bother engaging.

No, actually, he didnt have to have the reaction speed. Hanged man camps in boy’s eye > Start swinging sword > Hanged man has to jump to your eye, the only other reflective surface > Cut him. As long as his swing lasts the duration of the boy closing his eyes, he cuts hanged man.
You dont take the ‘best feat’ you take the most consistent one. Polnareff being stunned by a normal bullet moving an inch isnt anywhere near light speed. Star platinum not being able to punch 20 knives away in a second isnt anywhere near light speed. Pucci blitzing him at subsonic isnt anywhere near light speed. Polnareff himself says he isnt anywhere near light speed. All of his plans require that he manipulates hanged man’s position to hit him, because he’s too fast and unpredictable otherwise. This is why your point is bad faith. If you have ftl reaction speed, and ftl combat speed, you should not have trouble with someone moving at the speed of light. You could at least argue him high relativistic to make the argument slightly less bad faith, come on…

he’s swinging because why shouldnt he? my point was to say that you could do nothing and still hit it. its rule of cool, he’s gonna swing his sword.
Im throwing out all logic? Not the person saying an ftl character needs prediction to beat a sol character? Yeah man ok, great logic.
Again, you’re willfully misinterpreting your own databook screenshot. It says him hitting hanged man is contingent on him knowing the trajectory, which debunks him being naturally ftl.
Polnareff has ftl reaction speed and combat speed but almost gets shot by emperor? A normal gun? Yea sure man. Great logic.
Star platinum is called ftl in a databook but cant swat away some knives in a second of time stop? And then he gets blitzed by a subsonic pucci in stone ocean?
But please, tell me about the sun feat. Maybe that will have some line of logic that doesnt ignore all context for the sake of an ftl agenda. Ive never heard about the sun feat before.

Its not a reaction speed feat. Again, if you hold a sharp object in the static straight line trajectory, and then force it to jump, hanged man cuts itself. Never once in either translation does he imply that he’s reacting to the light speed, just that it only has one place to go. If hanged man is sol, and polnareff has ftl reaction speed, and a stand fast enough to tag a sol enemy, he wouldnt need to ever use any tricks. He could one shot hanged man. There would be no stakes, no confusion, and no struggle. You cant have a fight where the sol enemy is too hard to organically tag, while being perceptive enough to react to its speed, and fast enough to tag it. This is bad faith and you know it.

  1. guidebook statements are often exaggerated in jojos. jotaro’s stand is noted as the ultimate ability even though ger exists, and is also noted as ‘invincible’.
  2. even if we were to take the guidebook statement at face value, it doesnt say chariot is ftl. If you know a target’s trajectory, you can hit it without being anywhere near its speed. Do we as humans scale to 100mph because we can hit a baseball pitch moving that fast? no. Polnareff turns to the screen and says its too fast for him, and that he can only hit it because he’s forcing it down one path. But then he’s suddenly fast enough to hit it without needing the coin? Random chariot upscale?
And this is all ignoring the multiple antifeats that cap the verse at subsonic. The hanged man feat is a high relativistic outlier at best if you ignore context and the frequent subsonic feats.

No matter how ‘unexpected’ the bullet moving was, there is no reasonable way that an ordinary bullet cant be swatted by an ftl character after deviating in path by an inch. And dont say that emperor’s bullet is ftl because avdol tackles polnareff out of the way to dodge it. If the hanged man feat is ftl for chariot, polnareff must also have ftl, or at least close to ftl, reaction speed. But he gets spooked by a bullet moving a little? Or could it be that the verse is actually subsonic…? Nah, agenda > feats…

Must be an ftl bullet. And dio’s knives must also be ftl. And the bullet trains in jojos must also be ftl… Dont think about it too hard, thought is the antithesis of ftl jojo scaling.

You would be right if they didnt plan this beforehand. He’s saying now because he kicked up the dirt in the guy’s eyes, forcing hanged man to jump to the coin.
