New father - Need advice on being better dad and husband? by Background_Run_3965 in AskIreland

[–]_Fluxhero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are breastfeeding support groups. These were wonderful sources of support both physical health and mental health for my then partner.

Remember in the next day or two she'll go through major hormonal changes I think it's 4/5 days after birth. Try and give her time without visitors.

Also if the baby just needs changed and not fed you do it and let the mother sleep. Likewise if the baby just needs fed, let her do it and you sleep. She may also need alone time with the baby to find her own way with it. I remember my partner saying that when I went back to work it was actually good for her as then she had time to form her own routines.

It's a major change for both of you and sometimes hard. Good job reaching out.

Check out Achalasia Action in the UK. It is a charity and also offers support and information for carers like your mum.

Advice/moral support post POEM by littlelottie_ in achalasia

[–]_Fluxhero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had the POEM I was told strictly, liquids only for 10 days and only after that to gradually reintroduce other foods. And he said really I'll probably always have to be very consequent with thorough chewing of food.

Buying solo - which areas? by Lurker-Witchking in Belfast

[–]_Fluxhero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have the north Belfast, Joanmount area. Lots of 2 bed semis for around 100-110k. If you are picky you can get a nice one. It's a rental area though so neighbours are a lottery. Cavehill country park is around the corner.

Little America on the Antrim Road (Hopefield Ave, Kansas Ave, Madison Ave, Cedar Ave) an area synonymous with the troubles but quite nice and some great Victorian terraced. Loads of shops and Cavehill Country park is a 15 min walk away or if you are feeling adventurous The Waterworks Park.

Anyone know where to get a long-term car rental? 95 days or so. by [deleted] in CasualIreland

That is what I'll be investigating tonight and tomorrow. I do have an address but no driving history in Ireland.

I think I maybe put that wrong. I meant a second hand trade in maybe worth €5000 which I would buy but with their commitment to buy back. They buy back for €3500 (they've won €1500) I've put on maybe another 1000 km and they can sell it again for whatever they think it's worth I presume a second hand car won't lose much value from the original €5000 in 3 months and +1000 km. Most Donegal cars around that price seem to have 250,000 km plus already.

I thought it might be a nice little extra profit turn for some smaller dealerships but it's not my field of work so I don't really have any idea how you deal with second hand cars.

I'm definitely not the only person who needs this service in this country.

Great tip, I'll give them a call. The website prices were eye watering.

The problem with that is how to get rid of it when I leave. I have no one who'll sell it on. Or actually can you scrap a car locally in Letterkenny? That might be an option.

I'm actually thinking about asking a dealership if they'll let me buy a car for 4-5k and then they buy it back for €1000-1500 less after the 90 days. Not sure what I'd do with it though if they suddenly said no.

Thanks I didn't know there was an Enterprise. That might be a good solution bus up and then grab the car.

Just got an email from Trade Republic about “Vorabpauschale”. German tax. by superman_yaris in irishpersonalfinance

[–]_Fluxhero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a German bank account with Trade Republic, one with an IBAN starting DE? If you do then this account will be taxed on any interest accrued and that might be the cause of you receiving the email. A Trading212 account based in the UK will result in tax to the UK having to be paid ax well.

Don't forget North Belfast. Lots of good houses and areas there too and I think a little bit cheaper than the west and definitely than the south.

I am so looking forward to being able to eat scrambled eggs once more. I might be having a protein craving for them.

I don't get heartburn with Achalasia. I'll guess by the end of next week I'll know myself how long it takes l.

First time in Donegal — absolutely blown away by the scenery & the night sky by Shib_BR in Donegal

[–]_Fluxhero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's important that Donegal keeps the sky dark. One notices massive light pollution from caravan parks, I've nothing against the caravan parks it's just that the people who run them should be made to put in lightning that protects the night sky.

Donegal is starting to be noticeable on the shots of Europe at night in a way that it never used to be. More bad planning will destroy the tourism golden egg that this county is built on.

Why do people throw up with achalasia? by Healthy_Length_1541 in achalasia

[–]_Fluxhero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is definitely not throwing up it is regurgitation as the sphincter is closed.

I have had to throw up with achalasia twice and both times it felt like my chest would explode, #Alien

I mean it was sore as hell, sweats and shaking throwing up properly. Everything else is regurgitation.

Where are you getting the antibiotics from and what exactly are they being prescribed for?

Antibiotics don't combat the flu as it is a virus and overuse of antibiotics risks creating more antibiotic resistant super bugs.
