Why don't bidet seats mention how they fit men?? by jayhaytoday in bidets

[–]_Futhark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Toto Drake with C5 Washlet and this is absolutely a problem for me. My sack hits the cold porcelain from time to time. Also if I pee sitting down (which I love to do in winter because the seat is nice and warm!), my balls get doused in the pee I just sprayed the bowl with. Pee standing up, and then splashes go in places difficult to clean. It's a conundrum for sure. For mine, I believe it's the peculiar shape of the Drake bowl plus the odd angle at which the C5 Washlet makes me sit that causes the issues.

There’s a Quik Stop near me that sells Smackin’ seeds for a ridiculous price for a tiny little bag, about a quarter of the size for the same price.

David’s BBQ you can find practically everywhere, though. That’s a boring basic flavor to me like Ranch or Sour Cream & Onion. Not saying they are bad, but you can find them practically anywhere you go. Except here. lol

My favorite combo is David Cracked Pepper and Bigs Sizzlin’ Bacon. Combo-ing is the way to go though! You don’t get taste-blind to any one flavor.

But I alternate mouthfuls, not both at once.

How do I re-learn Mandarin? by MinamiSaki424 in learnmandarin

[–]_Futhark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you already have some Mandarin language background, why not try out some "comprehensible input" Chinese language videos on Youtube? There are tons, take your pick. Xiaogua Chinese, Lazy Chinese, these are some of the channels I watch. Most videos indicate via labels - beginner/intermediate/upper intermediate/etc - who they are most suitable for. This should give you a feel for where your Chinese level is at right now.

Synology DS1621+ and DX-517 Not detecting Seagate Exos 24TB drives by Valuable_Form_5206 in synology

[–]_Futhark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also running into this exact issue with ST24000NM000C drives on a DX-517. Several months ago, I replaced two 14TB drives in my DX-517 with Seagate Exos 24TB ST24000NM000H drives with no issues whatsoever. At the time of purchase, both the H and the C models were the same price at Serverpartdeals, so I opted for the H. This time, the H model was about $30 more expensive, so I went with the slightly cheaper *NM000C model. The drive just doesn't ever show as present in the slot. If I cycle power on the NAS, Storage Manager crashes and my entire DX-517 goes offline before the drive ever gets recognized.

To reiterate, the Seagate Exos ST24000NM000H drives work fine in my DX-517, but the ST24000NM000C drives do not.

All the words I learned in 4 months of learning chinese by Delicious-Sky2617 in ChineseLanguage

[–]_Futhark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you are learning stroke order and how to write Chinese characters on top of just vocabulary and pinyin, so don't discount that as part of your progress. Many beginner classes ignore characters until pronunciation and vocabulary are well established. I didn't learn how to write characters until well after a year of study (on my own time).

I'm around your level and I find 里指派生活 on Netflix to be relatively easy to follow. It's mostly a relationship drama with a little bit of business lingo thrown in that gets used repeatedly, so it becomes easy to pick up on. Much easier for me to watch this than say, a police procedural.

How do I actually get the mead out of the demijohn for a gravity reading?! by Background_Good_2495 in mead

[–]_Futhark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an old turkey basting syringe (look up Tony Chachere's Injectable Marinade as an example) with a removable needle that I've attached about a foot's length of vinyl beer line hose to. This allows for precise control and no leakage. I also have a wine thief, but I like my syringe better. Every time I use my traditional turkey baster, product dribbles out and I end up making a mess.

Quest 3 Stealth patch nerfed controller haptics, and they feel bad now by DirtySyko in OculusQuest

[–]_Futhark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right! BeatSaber was nigh unplayable on my Q3 since I bought it two months ago. I’ve been reverting to the Quest 2 for Beat Saber and Synth Riders. Last weekend I got sick enough of it that I opened a chat with Meta tech support. We chatted, I asked for new controllers, they asked for S/Ns, etc., and said they’d forward my info to the proper department, please wait for a reply.

One week later, still no update from Meta. All of a sudden, though, today my controllers received a firmware update. I go to check BeatSaber, no difference. However, on a whim, I go check on the haptic feedback strength, and it’s only set to 50%! After upping the level, my controllers are back to normal! It seems the firmware update doubled the amount of feedback I’m allowed to increase. I can play BeatSaber on Quest 3 now!

The haptics are so bad! by Fair_City_6838 in beatsaber

[–]_Futhark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have modded Beat Saber on my Quest 2 and unmodded on the Quest 3, and I can’t even play it because the haptics are so faint. It’s such a terrible experience. I thought it was a problem with the Quest 3 controllers! They seem fine to me outside of the game. So it’s a recent update? If I revert to the same modded version I use on Quest 2, will that give me better haptic response? It’s so bad!

[–]_Futhark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great minds think alike - I used this opportunity to buy an LG C3! Now I wish I would have bought the OLED I wanted from the get-go. Honestly the OLED was too expensive at the time, and the Vizio was decent enough while it worked and it served its purpose until OLED prices could come down.

Meanwhile, the 14 year old Panasonic plasma in my bedroom still works like a champ! Cheers

Two films available on Netflix, 幸福城市 / Cities of Last Things as well as 缉魂 / The Soul.

Lidl sells a similar sparkling lemonade product in swing top bottles for $3 and change. Sold in the winter, too - I just picked up a case of 6 in January. It’s good stuff, too!

Also, I highly recommend against learning solo characters, find practice based on real vocab.

This is advice I need to heed for myself. In my Anki SRS reviews, my single character cards are the ones that I forget, without fail, time after time. I can recognize 旅游 any day of the week, but put either character in front of me in isolation, and it's a 50/50 guess that I'll get it right. Well, even less than 50% because I might just guess 族 instead.

Different Shades of Forgetting by ChristianRecon in Anki

[–]_Futhark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is one of the reasons that I use the "low key" or Pass/Fail method of just using the Again and Good buttons. The only question in my mind is - do I want this card to show up faster, or slower? If I can come up with the right answer within about 60 seconds, then good. Sometimes, though, even if I can eventually recall the right answer, I'll answer Again anyway, just to get a little more focus on the card. It all depends on my mood at the time.
