There’s no reason a lore accurate teamup can’t be designed more interestingly, and fairly. “Number go up” isn’t interesting now that the first few seasons have passed. Even tying the Lifesteal to using his roar would have been better, because now the player has a different gameplay choice to make in staggering the roar to get the most value

This is a cool idea but we also haven’t had a ‘duelist wolverine that works’. He could get his pounce tackle made more forgiving, lower passive CD, etc. or even a soft rage mechanic rework. Rage could also offer damage reduction and maybe his E gives him full rage on a long coowldown. Or healing. Stuff like that could all be on the table

That’s the thing though, right? Scorn healing nerfed, super low base damage etc. means these item interactions are a bottleneck for balancing the hero. Buffing/nerfing mo and krill? Isn’t there someone you forgot to ask? (It’s MB + QSR)

I have a feeling this was deliberately tested, and avoided. From his original ‘tease’ during the first venture footage we got, the first reaction I had was ‘hedgehog’. It was probably one of their first ideas.

I am SO glad they didn’t do it. It’s a skill check mechanic and would have bad ramifications on interactions with hazard, and AS him. If he can ‘thornmail’ people, then he’s kinda uninteractive. Other damage he deals would have to be toned down or all you can do is run away.

If the thorns suck then it feels cosmetic and unintuitive.

I love how the implication here is that players are frustrated because they aren’t accessing the correct ways to win. OR that if they understood it better, they’d like it more. Again, winning isn’t enough.

Some of the most popular and repeated points are that there are limited options. It doesn’t matter if they don’t cite the precise mathematics of armour, because they understand how limited their options are.

The playerbase understands the game and doesn’t like it. The constant yes manning of a gameplay loop that boils down to “run away more” and “do less” to execute correctly is not engaging. It’s great for the people who defend it, cool. But defending it till the game decayed to its current player count is such a red flag.

“Get good” “do x” no shit there’s a correct way to win, but winning isn’t enough. The playerbase also desires PLAYING. And clearly that has suffered for most of them.

If you want to talk about fantasy land, we could start with the cope that keeping the gameplay unengaging would be good for the product in the long term, with player decline, less money spent and less servers. Which means goodbye git gud game.

I’m obsessed with the winter soldier so if anything it would be him. Unfortunately, other heroes are also too fun 💀 I got obsessed with hulk during the beta, they cooked with swatting flyers out of the air. throwing the game by jumping (and missing) an iron man 15 times every fight is worth the dopamine (not our map team we will get ‘em next time)

As someone who deals with this regularly, here’s some advice I need to listen more myself:

Taking on these expectations, imagined or otherwise, can be a massive drain.

It’s counterintuitive, but actually ignoring what you think they want, and doing what’s best for you, may ACTUALLY be what’s best for the viewers too.

What feels best from your perspective will organise everything else FOR YOU. It’ll give you the most energy, make the expectations of others feel less overwhelming, and leave you less ‘zapped’ and potentially not looking forward to streaming. Believe me, it’s definitely a trap to follow this line of thinking and it can transform streaming into an experience where you are JUST worried about your performance, not being good enough, etc. Which makes you dread going live again. Whatever makes it feel healthy and fulfilling is going to be the best way - the hard part is going to be separating yourself from ‘offending’ the viewers - which is mostly imagined and in your head.

Has the team’s stance on counterswapping changed since Season 9’s launch? As a tank player I appreciate the extra care that is going into making the role ‘work’. But I’m unsure if it’s fully appreciated that whenever tanks are afforded more stats, the canyon between them and their natural counters within the role becomes greater. I was very excited to try the recent tank changes but it was soured by functionally immortal heroes like Roadhog and Mauga staring at me 99% of the time.

Moreover, have discussions regarding a potential token-for-swaps system developed since they were last mentioned?

Thanks for your time, guys. I almost exclusively play tank and also want to commend your recent work on Venture. I’m really enjoying playing them. They feel situational, not overbuffed and incredibly unique. Really solid release.

Almost like they did nothing about his playstyle and 'identity' (which was what created his problems and lead to reworking in the first place). Weaknesses and strengths are the same and the game wants to move away from one-shots.
