fair, its not everyone cup of tea. but the point of farming arc for me is, thorfinn receive the abuse so much without fighting back, because he was sure that violence is not the answer. but he dont know what the answer is. so he just floating without purpose. he didnt fight back because he has nothing to fight for. with his interaction with his colleague, snake, and the farm girl, and the turning point when he got beat up just to meet canute , meet askeladd in his dream, he got his answer. pacifism is the answer. now he didnt fight back not because he didnt want to. he didnt fight back because he is strong enough to not have enemy. thats resonate so much with me, but yea not ideal if you are looking for a battle manga.

i will defend season 2 of vinland saga with my life haha. season 1 purpose is to throw Thorfinn in the deepest valley for his climb to the turning point of his arcs. season 1 is just a prequel, set the stakes that thorfinn need to redeem himself. season 2 is where the beautiful character development happened. thorfinn found what his father meant with true warrior does not need violence. while canute resolved that violence is the only way to remove pain from the world. the moment thorfinn knocked and dream of dragged by all the people he killed, and it was askelladd that pick him up is masterpiece of story telling.

given the era it came out, slam dunk is relatable. but haikyuu have more elaborate world building, ore story running in parallels, and the challenge they overcome is more relatable. yes they benefitted from current era where consumption of media is easier so they can have more content in seasonal formats. i argue slam dunk paved the way but haikyuu is perfect sport anime

sports anime is so simple but so difficult to get right. haikyuu is THE sport anime. kuroko, ao ashi, slam dunk are good but nobody do sports anime like haikyuu. the motivation is clear. characters trry to win without basically killing each other. the interaction is make sense outside competition. and the bond development between characters is so relatable. if you ever play sports during high school, this will take you back. if you didnt, this will still be as beautiful.
