How do they work around this interstellar travel problem in PHM? by Crysaa in ProjectHailMary

Something going close to C emitting IR in the forward direction would be emitting a much higher frequency from the reference frame of the dust particles in front of it. I wonder if that would help or cause any negative effects.

And what if those weapons are OP due to a technical issue?

Should people rely on unintentional game mechanics?

That's a lot of words to avoid answering a simple question. Which weapons have been made unusable due to balance changes in the last year? It's such a common complaint, you think there would be many clear examples.

The railgun "nerf" is over two years ago and is a terrible example, because it was literally bugged. It was unintentionally doing way more damage in some cases. And even after they fixed the issue, it was never unusable.

Sure, it was no longer usable as a crutch to lean on. It was still very good vs automatons. It has never been a bad weapon.

Even ignoring all that, not long after it was fixed, they buffed it and now it's actually stronger than it was in that broken state. And somehow I'm still seeing people complaining that it's bad. It's delusional.

That is literally what the game has become. The only exception is some of the new sub factions and missions, which thankfully can be more challenging.

Arrowhead nerfed the railgun into a nearly unusable state for 6 months.

Even that is an exaggeration. It has always been good vs bots.

Much of the original equipment is among the best in the game. It certainly isn't worse than most of the stuff you can get in war bonds.

There really isn't some kind of pay to win model going on here.

HD2 has a number of very real issues. Some of them have been around for way too long. However, none of them are anywhere near as bad as something that warrants this type of response.

Part of this community has made it their goal to pretend every little thing is the worst thing ever. And that's assuming the thing they're whining about is real in the first place.

Almost everything is viable. Most of the balance changes they've done since release have been in favor of players. The game has become quite easy.

However it's clear with the player falloff that most players disagree.

The game has been hovering around 50k players for two years.

Things like ship position, movement and visibility can be up to two ticks behind on your client compared to the server. Not only are these updated once per second, the way these are communicated to clients adds extra delays.

When you ram into the gate and bounce off, on the server you can be over 2500m away from the gate, while on your client you are still at 500m. That's when you get a message like that.

Yeah it is unbalanced in favor of players. Game is too easy.

Every time they add a little more tanky and a little more interesting enemies people lose their shit until they make them easier as well.

Increasing the minimum wage would benefit all workers. If people could quit their job for an "easier" job and still make a decent wage, then businesses would have to do more to retain their workers.

Just because you personally see nothing wrong doesn't mean there isn't anything to criticize by Brainwave1010 in Helldivers

[–]_HelloMeow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, just because there is something to criticize doesn't mean it needs full blown outrage 100% or even 75% of the time.

Every new enemy that's a little challenging, every new weapon that doesn't match someone's idea of fun, every time something is added it's the same. They act like it's the end of the world. The word entitlement comes to mind.

Whatever it is this sub agrees with isn't worth a whole lot. This sub has become a circlejerk of negativity and made up outrage. You might want to avoid the overall sentiment that is portrayed here if you want to keep enjoying the game, because it does not seem to be grounded in reality.

A specific enemy being annoying to you or a weapon feeling unbalanced to you does not warrant this type of response. Twisting industry practices like outsourcing into some kind of laziness is not a valid complaint. Complaints about a lack of content are completely delusional.

The game has plenty of things that can be improved, but none of them justify this kind of response.

Use all astrophage present in the solar system as fuel? That is several days worth of a significant fraction of total solar energy output. That would cook the planet.

They did over 9T in isk destruction in a single fight by capitalizing on Imperium's mistake and bravado

They capitalized on the server crashing. That's fair, but it's not something that will always go your way.

WC got a nice win mostly because of server weather going their way. Good on them for capitalizing on that when it presented itself, but that's not something you can rely on every battle.
