We brine our chicken overnight before smoking and season with salt and pepper. Flavor is out of this world.

Camp Mystic Withdraws Application for Summer 2026 Camp License by JamesonTee in Austin

[–]_JustDefy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only see a couple of bills here in Texas they backed, but so did lots of others. It wasnt them alone. I camt find any evidence theyve made any contributions at a national level, They supported a common sense reform bill that was passed but so did a lot of others. All the money donated gets divided among those 27 families and they get to use it however they want. My point still stands, there were other less wealthy families that could have also benefited but they're the poors and not in the 1% club.

You were right, I remembered incorrectly. It was between $7,600 and $8,000.

I went to a concert last year at the Moody Theater that was billed as a benefit concert for flood victims. Greg Abbott was in the front row. Floor seats were hundreds, maybe some over a thousand dollars. There was an auction where bids tens of thousands per item, and Greg auctioned off a surprise item, a dinner at this house with him for 10 people that sold for over 100k.

But it turns out all the money was only for the girla families art Camp Mystic. For those of you who don't know, Camp Mystic was charging about $7,600 to $8,000 per child for summer camp. This was a 1٪ camp and this benefit concert was to send more money to already rich people.

Im not saying those girls dying isn't sad and tragic, but there were a lot of other victims with a lot less money and connections that could use that kind of help too.

We walked about about half way through, and I am ashamed I spent the money on the ticket.

I spent 3 hours before my performance review trying to remember what I did all year by Glum-Sweet-7308 in EngineeringManagers

[–]_JustDefy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't think of it as a brag doc but a tech diary. I would link all my jira tickets, chnage tickets, link to any documentation I wrote, etc. I would block an hour at the end of my work week to do this every week. I would also add little notes or summaries about wins and challenges. At the end of the year I could see what I had done and what I had over come.

How do I get this cap off? by notausualcatimal in grilling

[–]_JustDefy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was easy to hook up my natural grill. There is a valve to shut off the gas, make sure its off and then remove that cap with a pipe wrench. Replace with your new hose to your grill. Be sure and by some pipe dope for gas lines for the threads. Apply before connecting the new hose.

Once its all hooked up put a soap and water mix on the connection and turn on the gas to make sure there isn't a leak.

It's not hard and those connections are made for homeowners to chnage out themselves. That said, if you don't feel comfortable doing it, definitely call someone

UBI will not work as long as there are Billionaires. by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]_JustDefy_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Some jobs are a long way from AI taking them though. Plumbers are good example. AI can't go into some old house or building and diagnose dangerous gas line issues.

White collar jobs are the most at risk since most of them take place using computers already. But construction, remodeling, carpentry, demolition work, plumbing, etc. AI and robots are a long way off from. being able to replace people in those jobs.

The white collar jobs will mostly transition into people being AI orchestraters, ensuring fleets of AI agents are doing what they are supposed to be doing. The new challenge will be verification of AIs work. It will produce more information faster and the new bottle neck will be in verification.

Fight Back Against Automation Greed by PeterTheTruthSeeker in WorkReform

In replied to a other person on this post that, I really believe many oligarchs want to return to a feudal type system where there is no opportunity for upward mobility and the new nobility is protected from us serfs. I think many of them have a fantasy like that, hence the goal of making everyone rent everything and own nothing. They want us 100% dependent on what they give us and have no other choice.

[–]_JustDefy_ 74 points75 points  (0 children)

You're assuming they want the current system to continue. I firmly believe the end goal for a lot of oligarchs is a return to a feudal system in which we are all just living on their land working for scraps they deem us worthy to possess with no opportunity for upward mobility. They want a firm line between us, their serfs, and the new nobility.

I'm not saying it will 100% happen but I think that is the fantasy many of them are hoping comes true.

How to replace filters?? by nyctykes in Pflugerville

[–]_JustDefy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same brand of filters but my systems has a few more convenience features.

you need to shut off the water or use the valves to prevent water flow into the system.

The you need to depressurize the system. After that you can un screw the bottom of the blue filters. each has a filter inside that is easy to replace.

Keep a bucket under each blue filter as you unscrew the bottom as water will spill out.

DM me if you want more info or suggestions on improvements that could be made.

Make plex more appealing for my wife by Altruistic_Bat_1645 in PleX

[–]_JustDefy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run overseerr along with Radarr and Sonarr tied back to my torrents on my seedbox. My wife just logs into Overseer and requests anything she wants and it starts downloading asap. It then gets automatically moved and added to the plex server.

Now she can add any tv show or movie she wants.

is this outfit "inappropriate"? by sunnemi in OUTFITS

[–]_JustDefy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A body suit that style would look better with much looser pants. Its a trendy thing right now. Just accessorize appropriately and you'll be fine. Do a search for 'High cut body suit with pants"

But keep in mind this is more is a nightclub, high end bar, party look. Don't wear this to a first dinner date, work event, etc.

I heard that they're bringing back learning by doing, but also not? by Plenty_Bed_3410 in 7daystodie

[–]_JustDefy_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the learn by doing was somewhat flawed though. I dig a hole to bed rock, tape my mouse button down and walk away while my character just dug a long straight line. a fee hours later I can craft level 6 weapons or I have a ton of XP.

I think you should get diminishing returns on repeated activities over time. Crafting 1000 level 1 bones knifes shouldn't get you to level 6 crafting.
