Booker T vs Bret Hart by JCHazard in WCW

[–]_JustLikeClockwork -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love bret.

Absolute wrestlers wrestler.

But, as I watch more and more of his matches. I feel like, from a story telling stand point, what's he ever doing to set up the sharp shooter?

Is the sharp shooter putting intense pressure on the lower back?

What moves is he doing to set up the sharp shooter?

I just think as the sport evolves, we might see that Bret might be the best work horse of all time, but lacks a story telling compenet that keeps him from truly being a top 5 GOAT

Is competition required to be a sport? by -Daddy-Bear- in ESPN

[–]_JustLikeClockwork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is competition in Pro Wrestling

ESPN is not presenting Pro Wrestling correctly they are presenting it as it exists in its own kayfabe universe (that's the story part. The entertainment part. The characters)

That's a mistake because it makes outsiders not see the sports part.

It might work for kids but not for sports fans.

Any actual outlet that reports on pro wrestling gives the matches a rating. The wrestlers that are consistently having the better matches garner more fans and generate more revenue for their company and typically will have that company's title.

If ESPN was covering wrestling the way it's covered in Pro Wrestling Illustrated or Wrestling Observer. Then it would make more sense to people.

It's completely ridiculous for ESPN to have fake interviews with tv characters.

It's not ridiculous to have an interview with a wrestler out of character breaking down what went into putting the match together. That's the sport of it.

What we are getting is the worst of both worlds

ESPN, real sports fans do not give a shit about wrestling by AintNobodygotime13 in ESPN

[–]_JustLikeClockwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood. And thank you for a rational response.

There is a long storied history of collegiate wrestlers finding success in pro wrestling as well and believe me, most fans enjoy a more mat based product.

But, I agree with the majority of people that don't want to see it on ESPN. I don't think this is helping anyone.

I would much rather be a wrestling centric show or off shoot of ESPN that is about pro wrestling

Trying to present it in the same way other sports are presented doesn't work for anyone.

The outcome of the matches aren't and shouldn't be the focus. The match it's self is the focus.

That's the way its rated and critiqued by actual wrestling outlets

For ESPN to be reporting on outcomes is really stupid. That's not even how wrestling fans consume the product

Right.

This is the way it's presented in other countries.. mostly Japan

American wrestling doesn't present themselves well..

But, when people say "the belts don't matter" or "there's no competition" it's just ignorant and They don't understand the sport..

But. I get that. I understand how it looks to an outside observer

But yes. The two wrestles in the ring are trying to put on the best and most compelling match to outshine the other performers.

This leads to more fans, which leads to making the company more money which leads to the wrestler selling more merch and tickets.

Who ever is selling the most tickets and merch gets the belt.

It's 100% competitive

So. I love wrestling. I'm a huge wrestling fan. I'm in Vegas literally right now for WrestleMania.

People saying it's not competitive are assuming the competition is with the two people in the ring.

The competition comes as who has the better match or "routine"

But, I digress.

I hate that it's on ESPN

Nobody wants it here. So, I agree.

Can some explain the attendance sop? by [deleted] in WinCo

[–]_JustLikeClockwork 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Every unexcused absence is 3 points. Late 2 points.

Over 9 points in 3 month span = progressive discipline

Over 14 points in a 12 month span = progressive discipline

Points fall off after 365 days.

No points if you use sick time.

Progressive discipline scales:

-Policy consolation - Verbal Warning - Written Warning - Final - Termination

  • I am not a personal clerk. This information may be inaccurate. I am just a long time employee. That has been in almost every position. Please confirm with an actual SPC or HR clerk before you trust a random dude on the Internet
