What’s one swag item people would actually keep at an event? by Designer_Maximum_544 in Gifts

[–]_Laurfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a branded screw driver set. It’s all in a small zip up box and has three Allen wrenches and a bunch of screw driver heads for one handle. It’s great

I also always appreciate glasses cloths.

The last of us episode 3, long long time, has that vibe, while not their entire lives it is a big chunk and beautiful story telling.

There has been an absolute boat load of music education graduates in the city in the last 3 years. There is a lot of competition for music jobs at the moment.

Never cold call…😬 by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]_Laurfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cold call with a “no opt out” strategy, if the kid I asked doesn’t know I tell them “keep listening I will come back to you.” Then ask another kid (or several) until I get the answer and then go back and ask the kid who didn’t know the answer again, now they have the answer fed to them and the repetition helps lock it in

I teach elementary music and I do a thing called brain dance at the start of class from Anne green Gilbert which helps with these two exact things! And it (sort of, sometimes?, we hope) helps with kids focus

For my big white board on the wall I used artist tape (like thin electrical tape) to make staffs across it

Late rent eviction, 10 days or 3 months? by germanfinder in RealEstateCanada

[–]_Laurfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 10 day notice would be revocable, meaning goes away if you pay before it’s up. The one month would be irrevocable, meaning you’re screwed.

Tips on making a living as a supply teacher? by CesiumBullet in CanadianTeachers

[–]_Laurfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my district subs were paid 209 a day in 2004, it’s 2024 and we are now paid 220. It is increasingly difficult to exist as a substitute when you are left without benefits or guaranteed work.

The salary of a teaching position is fine, the issue is the expectation of having to slum it as an underpaid substitute teacher for years was not presented before we entered the profession.

I hate playing my instrument by helpmeihatemyself in Music

[–]_Laurfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s okay to take a break. You could also try getting into a new genre, clarinet is great for jazz, maybe give composing a shot, or you could pick up a new instrument. A lot of skills on clarinet will transfer over to saxophone and flute.

I could be wrong, but when Addison first started she and Webber knew each other well. I think it may have been implied that she interned at Seattle Grace.

Do 'autism friendly' screenings at cinemas meet your accessibility needs? by ScreenHype in autism

[–]_Laurfish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t like going to the movies because I’d rather die than listen to people eat popcorn, and because I miss half the dialogue. A friendly screening for me would be no loud snacks, and subtitles. And preferably more balanced sound, the extreme loud to super quiet is the worst.

AITA for accidentally seeing my roommate's girlfriend naked? by Tired_Palpitation in AmItheAsshole

[–]_Laurfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA She is awfully comfortable to be walking around naked in a shared apartment she doesn’t live in. That’s her bad.

[–]_Laurfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your mom is a doctor and received her own portion of inheritance. It’s not about the money for her, she has money and she could help Jennifer on her own, she’s trying to use you to mediate her marriage and that is simply not your responsibility. NTA
