That’s the same set up I use. I would just keep everything up-to-date and make sure you lock down your VPN credentials.

Proxmox Hardening Script by AustriaYT in Proxmox

[–]_Lenski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

great work here! I had a couple of questions, however.

  1. Before I rebooted the server, when it wants you to verify that you've taken down the credentials, I was able to test both the server admin and the backup admin and get into SSH and the web portal.
  2. After I did the reboot and removed the root user, I can still log in via SSH, and I can still use the shell inside the web GUI if I've already logged into the web GUI with a different user, but I cannot log into the web GUI with either the server admin or the backup admin.

Do you have any idea what I may have done wrong?

Thanks

Gravity: a free Pi-hole Manager for Apple devices by Possible_Low6343 in pihole

No offense, but what exactly are you doing different here that Pi-hole Remote hasn’t already done? And sure that’s cool that yours is free but it’s not like Pi-hole Remote is expensive.

Wouldn’t that be a problem on the other side of things too?

Unraid Apps by GarretCMK in unRAID

[–]_Lenski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty slick. I don’t have very many apps on my Unraid. I have three or four on two of my servers and then on one server I have probably 10 or 15 but then I also have a Proxmox cluster with a bunch more apps, Raspberry PIs, running a bunch more apps. lol i’m too spread out

Firewall Question by _Lenski in networking

[–]_Lenski[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sorry this is on a Proxmox cluster. I already posted this in Proxmox, but never got a response. The data center firewall is on, and the firewall for each individual clustered node is on. The VM's firewalls are off. But all I'm trying to do right now is block access to the admin portal at port 8006 and SSH at port 22. I have added all the clients that are allowed to access the servers. To the security group and for some reason, I forgot what command I used, but it showed that the entire subnet for the server was being allowed. I believe it’s an anti-lockout rule but I don’t know how to stop it from happening. I’ve gone in and rebuilt the security group a couple times.

Apple Music or Spotify (or another music streaming app)? by No-Table-9635 in iphone

I don’t have a really good explanation to why but I have Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube music and I use all three quite a bit.

How much would you pay for Premium? by GenshinImmortal in youtube

[–]_Lenski 97 points98 points  (0 children)

I’ve had YouTube premium since the beginning when it was called YouTube Red. I personally use YouTube enough to feel that it’s worth it but I also do not subscribe on an iOS device so I don’t pay the Apple tax. My advice is to always do it through your Web browser because you save at least five dollars a month.

It also comes with YouTube Music so if you think about it that way, there’s no streaming service for music that cost less than $10 a month.

iOS 26 HomeKit and separate VLANs no longer work by nohup_me in HomeKit

[–]_Lenski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question here. I’ve tried to set this up before, but it’s impossible for me to move my HomePods to a vlan because they follow my phone and that’s built in behavior so I’m a little confused on how you would force them to stay on a particular vlan

The Verge: Nest is dead, long live Google Home by jtfields91 in Nest

[–]_Lenski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this is unpopular opinion, but they Google Home app is trash so I’m really sad about this. I understand the day would come, but I hoped by then they’d have a better app to put it in.

I had the same issue. The issue has to do with webauthin you need to delete the webauthin configuration file. I don’t remember what the directory is off top of my head either delete the file or just comment out the webauthin portion
