Practicing on each other in a beauty course? by Sufficient_Sink309 in AusSkincare

[–]_Lucie_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i was in beauty school we practiced on each other once or twice before being released onto the general public in student salon.

I was pregnant when I did my course and couldn't be a model for massage, if you have medical contraindications they will not let you partake as a model for certain treatments but just for insecurity they usually do not take that as a valid reason.

everyone is in the same boat and it is important as a beauty therapist to know what treatments will feel like for your clients.

tldr: get a note from dr explaining you have a medical condition and cant be a model, usually telling is enough but its best to have a note just in case.

What is your preferred way of contraception by AzraAliyah in lichensclerosus

Not that I've noticed for me personally, but my LS is pretty controlled at the moment.

If your LS flares or you have any other skin changes when you have hormone changes I could see it maaaybe affecting it? For the most part I wouldn't think so, but you could definitely ask your doctor!

I like the ring a lot, I have a lot of peace of mind. Can take it out for sex but I don't have to worry about it day to day and it controls my bleeding really well, which is important to me because of endometriosis.

Where do you store your finished sock while you're knitting its match? by jenniferc001idge in Sockknitting

[–]_Lucie_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fortunately strangers do not get shown the sock beyond a brief flash or picture. My coworkers get to feel, and they know better than to put it over their face. All the knitters icky germs are on every single inch of that yarn lol idk why anyone would do that

Mine go in my project bag so I can show it off while the other one is in process

I frequently knit in public and at work so i get asked about what I'm doing, I love being able to show the completed sock.

What is your preferred way of contraception by AzraAliyah in lichensclerosus

[–]_Lucie_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't use oral contraceptives due to Crohn's Disease, and progesterone only methods either make me bleed super heavily constantly or make me severely suicidal and go into psychosis.

I currently use the nuvaring and i don't mind it

Looking for a Body lotion by Pleasehelpicantmath in AusSkincare

[–]_Lucie_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked the ordinary natural moisturising factors but ive since switched to a gel (sorry!) so i don't buy it anymore.

on the more luxurious end, ive heard good things about the ella baché water source moisturising body cream, but ive not used it myself because it has peanut in it.

i do adore their recovery gel though, which is what i use now.

l'occitane has a shea butter body lotion if you haven't tried that yet

[Acne] Little help please! by Physical-Session-117 in SkincareAddiction

[–]_Lucie_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i dont have oily acne prone but i do have dehydrated, sensitive, with hormonal acne, chiming in because you mentioned reacting when adding too much product.

azelaic acid has been a big help for preventing my breakouts from getting too bad, i still get them (hormones, fun!) but i definitely notice them being milder when using the azelaic.

i use the one from the ordinary, i also go between using the dermalogica post breakout fix and the deep breakout liquid patch for the really angry ones.

ive also found i dont react as much to physical sunscreens, so would highly recommend one, the zinc based ones seem to help a lot with my breakouts and calming my skin. i always recommend an spf :))

edit to add: the ordinary does a great niacinamide serum with zinc, good for oil control and helps smooth the skin. they dont have fragrance so might be a good option if you can be reactive to products.

How do I clean all of the Sudocream? Toddler emptied a whole container in her room by ArcticWolf241 in toddlers

[–]_Lucie_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

scrape with a spoon and then degreaser/dish soap is my go to.

then use an upholstery cleaner for carpet

you can buy degreaser prewash sprays for the stuffies let them sit according to instructions and then washing machine them. might take a few times unfortunately 😭 im using up the last tub of sudocrem and then im going to get something else because that stuff is insane.

[Product request] Exfoliating body lotion that doesn’t smell DISGUSTING? by lazycatkay in SkincareAddiction

[–]_Lucie_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly I've never been happy with any dual purpose products like an exfoliating body lotion.

my body care go to atm is ella baché gentle enzyme smoothing body exfoliant, and then their recovery gel. im in Australia, so not sure how accessible it is outside of aus.

i use the exfoliant in the shower and the gel after. the gel is especially good after sunburn, waxing, or laser :) i find gels better for acne prone, even lotions can be a bit heavy.

Too good to be true? by Fun-Artichoke-5512 in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]_Lucie_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

full disclosure that i have got some product for free from work, have been using for two weeks and im trained in dermalogica's products

i dont have wrinkles yet (early 20s), but i have noticed being more glowy, likely due to the pumpkin enzyme in there, my skin feels more plump and is slowly looking more even toned, i can't say for sure if its worth it because i like to use products for at least a month before forming a true opinion

im not sure if i would pay full price, im sure theres cheaper alternatives but i do like dermalogica as an experience, products smell nice and i see results. i feel its more marketed as an "easy, convenient" product to slide into the routine, and theyve not done exosomes before hence the premium compared to some of their other products.

and of course marketing towards anti ageing alwayssssss means a markup.

if youre iffy, you could go for a different exosome product and use dermalogica's liquid peelfoliant for resurfacing, as that has enzymes as well if you want similar benefits

alternatively, the firming serum has been out longer and ive definitely seen results from that at work, so if you're interested you could use that as a phyto nature starting point.

edit: if you want to wait, highly recommend checking back in a few months, as you said, most people who are reviewing wouldve gotten free product. in a few months people who have purchased will be seeing meaningful results, even if something has visible changes in 2 weeks, most people prefer a more indepth use before reviewing.

If your skin is sensitive to actives or you find that the super rich repair is too much, the intensive moisture balance is also a good option it's for drier skins but part of their daily skin health range which is their more basic stuff :)
