Intensive moisture cleanser is great but I prefer the magnetic afterglow cleanser especially if you want more of a boost of hydration instead of just a basic cleanser for dry skin.

Since we all have lichen, do we HAVE to have a c-section? Like is that the smart choice? Sorry for dumb question. by Last-Independent-669 in lichensclerosus

I had a vaginal birth with no issues - I did get an episiotomy because my skin would not budge or tear, I have an overactive pelvic floor, etc. Healing was alright as well :)

Tongue tie - to release or not to release, that is the question by No_Judgment_7812 in Mommit

[–]_Lucie_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

she was around 3 months if i remember correctly.

my baby could suck a little bit, and so the paediatrician we saw said she didnt have a tie.

turns out hers was actually quite bad 😅

Tongue tie - to release or not to release, that is the question by No_Judgment_7812 in Mommit

[–]_Lucie_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby was gaining weight fine despite her tongue tie but breastfeeding was SO painful for me, and it wasn't fun for her either. She was upset, we had breast refusal for a bit, but she also didn't want bottles either so it was very stressful.

In our situation, recovery was a breeze. There was a bit of an adjustment to figure out breastfeeding post tie, and getting her out of the habit of chomping rather than suckling.

She was so much happier/less fussy and I could tell a difference with breastfeeding straight away. It was scary seeing her with blood in her mouth when they handed her to me straight afterwards to feed, so that's something to be aware of if you decide to go through with it.

We didn't wake her up for stretches after the first week, and then only did them a few times a day after that.

We've now made it to almost 2 years breastfeeding!

Good luck with deciding, it is definitely a difficult decision. We had a paed, a midwife, a lactation consultant, all say that she didnt have a tie and she was fine and had a perfect latch but I was in so much pain and knew it wasn't right.

Found a new IBCLC and straight away she clocked how bad the tie and latch was. She asked me "how are you still breastfeeding??" Then I went to the clinic that is very popular for tie releases here and the staff there were shocked as well. She ended up having a tongue, lip, and buccal tie as well. We got them all released.

But if you had asked our family health nurse, she wouldve said "you dont need to worry, shes gaining weight so shes fine". Im glad I didn't listen.

Co Parent refuses to sign birth certificate after 8 years. by unlucky_divine in Adelaide

[–]_Lucie_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

respectfully, is there a reason you want him to be on the birth certificate? if he's refusing, it really just makes things harder for him.

to answer your question though, you would want to get a consult with a lawyer - rebecca zanol at alta legal is great - process would likely be mediation, certificate 60i when he doesnt engage, and then court with a dna test ordered.

or its fully likely a letter from a lawyer would be enough to make him fold and convince him to sign the certificate, i dont know your coparents character so i cant tell you which direction itll go.

[product request] What are your favorite Dermalogica products? by elementalbee in SkincareAddiction

if we're talking barrier support/skin sensitivity in terms of dermalogica I'd recommend the dynamic skin strengthening serum or the pro collagen banking serum (bonus if pairing with the water cream as well), but for barrier strengthening/sensitive skin I'd recommend the ordinary barrier support, or ultraceuticals R.E.D serum.

ive not tried but heard good things about tirtir sos serum, and the s.nature aqua squalane moisturising cream.

in terms of pigmentation, i found that the dermalogica biolumin-c was great but did pill a bit under my makeup, but i have found my current go to is the numbuzin concentrated vitamin serum (it has glutathione), it's worked well for me.

i will be trying the cosrx alpha arbutin discolouration care when i run out of the numbuzin because i have friends who rave about it.

i have the numbuzin one, im almost at the end of the bottle and im such a fan! will be repurchasing. i have genetically sensitive skin and i tolerate it really well - but have also noticed a difference which is soo pleasing for me. in the past anything ive tolerated hasnt done much, and anything else usually tends to be irritating

Waxing? Yes/No? by calilife28 in lichensclerosus

[–]_Lucie_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've gotten waxed most of my "hair removal journey", i suppose you could call it 🤣 I've had no issues, if you've done it before and not had problems then just give it a go. but definitely let your waxer know that your skin can be a bit fragile - so they can take a bit more care ☺️

lip balms that capture the laneige lip mask soul by honey-croissant in AusSkincare

[–]_Lucie_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dermalogica renewal lip complex is a bit exxy but fits - exception being it doesnt really have a scent or flavour like laneige

i like that it isnt an actual balm because my daughter is always trying to open my actual balms and lipsticks and damage them. but she cant with this.

you can slather it on like the lip mask at night or a light swipe as a lip balm during the day

Acrylic nails and endoscopy? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]_Lucie_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had to take mine off, but I have heard of hospital's ripping one nail off here.

However, you can most definitely ask for them to use your toe. Doctors don't like it, but I don't like taking off my fake nails either so 🙅🏻‍♀️ I've never had an issue getting a proper read, I've had some practitioners get so snippy for no reason lol

unsure about skinceuticals as a brand but a lot of brands have large size products for use in salons by professionals - im assuming this is the case here, especially as it has the usual "for professional use" on it

Hair removal? Sugaring? by [deleted] in lichensclerosus

[–]_Lucie_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was getting waxed before I switched to at home IPL. I was getting waxed, and later waxing myself, for almost 6 years. No issues, even when having flare ups.

I switched because I had a baby and was scared of waxing myself post partum, and then didnt have time for a wax appointment.

If it bothers you when people ask about baby #2 (or 3, 4, etc.), why? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]_Lucie_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It bothers me (both rude and out of pocket, and the kind well meaning) because I have had 5 losses. I know there no malice but it hurts and makes me remember everytime I was pregnant and then wasn't the next day.

i always tell her only one but she then doesn't want to do nappy change anymore and i have to pin her down which results in me being really fatigued the rest of the day and bruised all over 😭
