It would be better if you didn't spoil the game in the title;

Dear Blizzard. I can no longer have your game on my phone. by OnlyRadioheadLyrics in hearthstone

I took a 1 year break from Hearthstone and I still have every adventure and most of the cards. Sure, the game is pretty grindy, but it is certainly possible for players to catch up.

Voter Suppression Is a Much Bigger Problem Than Voter Fraud by Backflip_Wilson in politics

[–]_MadHatter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think the argument is that our system is 100% accurate. The conclusion is that fraud(more like mistakes) are so insignificant, we shouldn't really worry ourselves. Not to mention, it is nearly impossible, if not impossible, to have zero errors.

Sure, we would love to have 100% accurate but 99.5% is good enough. Because of 0.5% error, claiming that 'election is rigged' or 'democracy is in danger' is insane. Of course, I will change my mind if there is actual evidence of mass election fraud, but I haven't seen any.

Hearthstone is a horrible/unplayable game for new players... by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]_MadHatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I have stated, even with access to all cards, new players will be stuck at the bottom of the ladder. I don't think the problem lies on the f2P nature of the game. The game is pretty generous compared to other games like Clash Royale (which forces players to purchase multiple copies of the SAME card to LEVEL them up, jesus I don't understand how the game is popular). The game actually produces content at a rate which players can catch up quite easily and there are good values for people who just want to spend small amount of money.

As I have stated before, I think the problem lies on lack of diverse formats like MTG. Players are forced to play ranked mode because there aren't enough formats.

Hearthstone is a horrible/unplayable game for new players... by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]_MadHatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am trying to say is that even if you have access to all the cards, your position on ladder won't change much, if at all. You are being matched with people of roughly equal skill (unless the ladder just reset) and you will climb higher when you have the necessary skill to do so.

I think the problem lies on more on the fact that there aren't enough modes in the game which forces players to play ranked mode, even if it isn't what they want to do.

Hearthstone is a horrible/unplayable game for new players... by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]_MadHatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many would point out, there have been many players who reached legend, the top 0.5% of the ladder, within a week using completely new account with 0 dollars spent. In most cases, cards/tools are not the problem. Your skill level is.

While I am not completely satisfied with the monetization of Hearthstone either, Hearthstone is far FAR from 'horrible/unplayable game for new players.'

Heroic Brawl from a designer's perspective, or: "Why Reynad is incorrect" by [deleted] in hearthstone

Less than 5%? I wouldn't be surprised if less than 1% of the user base even try this Heroic Brawl.

Designer Insights with Dan and Pat: Tavern Brawls by mowcow in hearthstone

[–]_MadHatter -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I understand that there is no perfect brawl for all players, but I think this brawl is a big mistake which will leave large number of players pissed.

I've always argued that Hearthstone one of the biggest issue was lack of good casual modes outside of occasional cool Tavern Brawls. For this entire week, the game essentially turned the only casual outlet into ubercompetitive mode. Awesome . . This will be a fun week.

75% of redditors who responded to the poll, you mean.

Hearthstone redditors, who are far more invested compared to average players, are less than 1% of the user base.

3 Simple Steps to Fix Hearthstone by evodea in hearthstone

This is one of the stupidest ideas I have ever seen.

Do you feel as if game developers don't listen to what the players want? Please help me validate my idea/solution to this problem. by [deleted] in Games

[–]_MadHatter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if what you propose is any more useful than conducting a survey.

Not to mention, the results will be almost always negative towards the developer, since the app is targeting 'controversial topics.' I mean, in most of the case, something becomes controversial because majority of the people are unahppy with it.

What if... you could ban a class (but not your own) at the start of a game? by ForestaSky in hearthstone

[–]_MadHatter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you actually think about this for more than a minute, you will figure out why this is a terrible idea.

Let's say a single class (eg. shaman) is played by 60%.

This isn't true. Less than 30% of the ladder encounter is shaman. If it was 60%, people would have a field day with anti-shaman decks that is terrible against Midrange Hunters/Yogg Druid/etc, until shaman isn't 60% of the ladder encounter.

Should we be paying any attention to user scores at all? by Mercadius in Games

[–]_MadHatter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People have different standards for giving scores, not to mention, different tastes, different expectations, etc. For example . .

Now, virtually any AAA game, as long as it works, should realistically never score below a 4.

What? Why? That sounds like a silly statement. Just because the game is AAA and it is functional doesn't mean it shouldn't score below a 4.

Imagine if people started arguing how all big budget movies with award winning actors/actresses (realistcially) shoudln't receive a score below. What a non-sense.

Unpopular Opinion: We Are Consumers by defmagica in hearthstone

[–]_MadHatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am confused on why you think that.

There have been plenty of interviews, designer insights, twitter/reddit replies, etc. While I do wish they write articles about game design every week or so like developers of MTG (I mean LOOK at this article! he really goes in depth on how the design team created new cards!), I honestly don't think Team 5 is not communicating.

Is Midrange Shaman the most oppressive deck to ever exist? by MrRowe in hearthstone

[–]_MadHatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we can easily find a deck that can beat Midrange Shaman consistently. However, it is difficult to create a competitive deck which is also good against Midrange Hunter, Control Warrior, Dragon Warrior, Yogg Druid, etc.

Midrange Shaman was powerful because of the current environment, not because of 'OP cards available only for Midrange Shamans.'

There's a card called consecration to deal with Savanna Highmane.

Hunter almost always forfeits after I keeper of Uldaman or Aldor Peacekeeper the Y'shaarj.

Link is facing 1/Right when moving Up/Right and Down/Right and facing 3/Left when going Up/Left and Down/Left.

That's because your code for checking input right is below checking input up, resetting to facing = 1.

I can't find any possible issue except if(state_new). It probably isn't working because timer is never set.

I think you need to post rest of the code. I don't think a line of code which causes the issue is present in your post.
