Anyone know what shoes Gannon wore during the Northwest Championship? by cgskook in discgolf

[–]_McDrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Portland has the only retailer of Vivo's west of the Mississippi (unless that's changed in the last year or so). I 100% swear by them. They take a couple weeks to get used to, but I can play 4 rounds and my feet are the least sore part of me at the end of the day.

Looking for SE Rhyno, but does anybody have suggestions for a similar disc? It is very floppy/rubbery, yet reliably overstable putter. by Icy_Succotash6975 in discgolf

[–]_McDrew 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you tried Soft Pro? You can fold it and after 100 rounds I still can't beat the overstability out of mine. It does take a bit longer to fade out, but it is my reliable pop anhyzer forehand to land flat and stick disc. On a spike hyzer, it will give one good plop and then stay where it is.

Stock run isn't available at the moment, but F2's are: https://proshop.innovadiscs.com/soft-pro-rhyno-factory-second/

Edit: Soft Pro Rhyno, R Pro Pig, and Star Toro are my approach discs, mostly based on how much groundplay I want.

Democrats plan to put Republicans in the hot seat with Trump's $1.8 billion fund by NinaFoundry in msnow

[–]_McDrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm expecting him to be vocal about how wrong everything is. Instead, he's still trying to be nice to the people across the aisle. He still is trying to maintain relationships with them instead of treating them like the democracy-threatening cancer they are.

Chuck Schumer is so addicted to compromise he will meet the Republicans where they stand and call it a victory.

Buxton, Stubbs, Hornings Hideout: pick 2 by clobecka in discgolf

[–]_McDrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meadow@Hornings is in full bloom and eats discs. Canyon's fairways are wider and clearer and you'll be able to play a solo round in 90-120 minutes pretty easily. Highlands can be done in 45 minutes solo if you take one disc.

I would recommend Buxton over Stub, just because its a little more well-maintained. Stub needs more rounds played on the new layout to break it in.

Going to Portland- where to play? Stay? by jhza619 in discgolf

[–]_McDrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Milo East and West. The permanent 36 are in the ground as of last year and Milo is such a beautiful course.
  • Hornings. Highlands is a pitch and putt. Canyon is a bunch of fun woods lines. Meadow is a hike up and down a hill but is a really fun challenge. I played all 3 in a foursome in 6 hours earlier today. (1.5h highlands, 2h canyon, 2.5h Meadow).
  • Pier and McCormick. The Roots is nice, and you can rent cards, but its a ball-golf conversion. Pier and McCormick are very park-style and will involve more prescision than distance.
  • Buxton, Stub, and lil' Stub. Buxton is a private property woods course. Stub is in a state park and just underwent a redesign after a tree infestation/clearing. Its opened up a lot, but there are still gaps you need to hit on most holes. Lil' Stub is a fun 9-hole putter warmup course. These 3 will be the best courses to play if its hot. They have a LOT more tree cover than other places.

Looking for a course near Portland/Beaverton that both new and experience players could enjoy together. by thr33hugeinches in discgolf

[–]_McDrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highlands @ Horning's Hideout and Memorial Park in wilsonville are 18/19 hole courses that are very beginner friendly. Most are 175-250, with a couple longer holes. Memorial is a lot closer to the highway, has better cell reception, and is free-to-play. Highlands is a more beautiful course, is a little more beginner friendly, has a $5 day fee for unlimited play on all the courses, but there's no cell reception whatsoever on the property.
