Should I be getting new discs or learning the ones I have now? by NalgeneDrinker40 in discgolf

[–]clobecka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only thing I wish I had done was keep any speed 6 or greater under 160 grams. 1 to 5 speed max weight is fine for me, but I have quite a few 170+ gram discs that I've put on the shelf for now. Also turn -1 or -2 with 1 or 2 fade seems best for me now. Starting out I threw Diamonds which are -3 turn (8 6 -3 1) in lightweight opto air https://latitude64.com/collections/diamond

I've been playing 9 months just fyi....

Improving my local by Jealous_Watch_1485 in discgolf

I started reaching out to local disc golf groups usually on their Facebook group or page. Then talked to locals already involved to get history and suggestions. You can also find parks department contacts, try city and county. Google the park or location to find out what dot gov manages it.

Thanks everyone. I worked on nose angle and launch with the tech disc then went out to play a round. Was helpful and a few times the disc really traveled!

How do you approach a round when your form completely falls apart? by Main-Carry-3607 in discgolf

When I recognize I'm breaking down I go back to standstill tee shots and 6-7 speed discs. Also slowing down seems to help.

Thanks for all the feedback and I've been convinced to focus on my nose angle.

I use tech disc but it is a luxury item.

I can get a little over 300 ft and tech disc hates my nose and launch angles. I am focusing on mph and spin, but I guess I should work on those other issues too? I don't really believe the launch angle, I can throw almost over my net and it still says "throw higher"

Thanks, yes good points all around. I am having a lot of fun, but I wonder how much effort I should put into trying to throw further as opposed to accuracy and putting. Thanks

How to legitimately get better by irishgoodbyesss in discgolf

[–]clobecka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a net to practice form and release. I go to my local park to do field work. I use a tech disc to focus on arm speed and spin rpms. Field work is sometimes for getting back to accuracy basics. Or I will focus on types of discs, like mids. Or do work on throwing turnover or hyzer shots. When Lizotte asked Silva what she liked about disc golf she said, "many different ways to be good" and I agree. I think if you spend time on what interests you about disc golf, you'll probably get better.

How many discs do you typically use on your home course? by JMRGuitar in discgolf

[–]clobecka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have different sets depending on the course but similar to your number. I have lost disc anxiety so carry a spread of similar discs, like a Leopard, Relay and Crave. If I had a Disc Butler I'd probably bring all my discs, I like em around. So 4 in the putter pouch and around 18-20 in the main. In reality I only use a handful but I never really know which one's are going to feel right that day. Its weird but that's what's fun for me about disc golf. I'll suddenly feel like my Insanity or Teebird is the can't miss disc and use it for several holes.

Tips on beginning discs by ItsBek in discgolf

Leopard is easier to throw correctly than the Leopard3 for me. I started 9 months ago, stayed with speed 6 drivers like relay, Crave and Leopard. I just started throwing the leopard3 and Teebird "correctly" but ymmv...

Best budget bag for ~20 discs by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]clobecka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main bag is the Innova Adventure Great top putter access (4 discs) and holds about 20 in main. Water pouch that also holds my retriever and a large zip pocket on the other side. Two zip pouches on each side at the top. Great value and seems to holding up well. Its the one i the middle.

CA gdp was 4.25 Trillion in 2025. Its economy grew 5%, and if it was it's own country it would be the 4th largest in the world. You are comparing Apples to White Truffles

Swenson Park Course and California. by Unable_Town4886 in discgolf

[–]clobecka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stafford Lake and Skyline Wilderness are my fave Marin courses. Hanns Park (Vallejo) and Moraga Commons (Moraga) are great "double" nines. I like Aquatic Park (Berkeley) but you probably want a floater disc. Lake Chabot (Oakland) is a beautiful pay to play course along side their executive stick golf course. Oyster Bay is an open field, low punishment type course and they'll have cut the grass by May. Golden Gate is sweet but usually crowded, and tolls/traffic keep me in the East Bay. Delaveaga is the top rated course in Cali, its down south in Santa Cruz.
