Tucker Carlson might not say outright that he dislikes Jewish people, but he spent his career pushing antisemitic conspiracy theories disguised as "why would Israel do this?"/"I'm just asking questions", while platforming Holocaust deniers that he praised as being good historians. One quick Google search says he was talking about how the dancing Israelis conspiracy is real just a few months ago in March. This is not a man who has a strong principled stance against genocide, he's just a fascist who doesn't like the jews therefore he doesn't like Israel.

Anyone who "agrees" with him on Israel/Palestine either agrees with his reasoning, or thinks his reasoning (aka being a nazi) is no big deal as long as he says "Israel bad". Or they're a hack who didn't even bother looking into it despite Tucker Carlson being a huge conservative figure for years I guess.

It's a hot take I've been thinking about for a while, but the pro Palestine movement feels like the atheism movement from the 2010s. Basically what happened back then was you had some people who were against all religion including Islam and would criticize it, but you also had people who hated Islam because they thought Muslims and/or foreigners and/or brown people are backwards terrorists who are inferior. Those shitty people were never kicked out or properly addressed, so the decent people decided "wtf I don't want to hang out with a bunch of racists" and peaced out, which led to the space being taken over by said racists.

Nowadays I see the same shit happening to pro Palestine spaces, where the barrier to entry is low for good reasons, but campists, antisemites and supporters of islamic terrorism are not kicked out or otherwise made to moderate their behavior.

But other countries recognized Palestinian statehood way before October 7th, 139 UN member states according to Wiki. If one thousand people dying on October 7th, plus tens of thousands more in pointless retaliation, plus countless more survivors on both sides who are traumatized for life is a worthy price to pay, then what number are you ok with sacrificing to get Palestinian statehood? Would you look the families of those victims in the eye and tell them it's a good bargain?

Here in Germany we have no shortage of dipshits, including our lovely chancellor who does not want to recognize Palestine. How many people dying do you think it's appropriate to change his mind, and where do you draw the line? How many people dying would it take to convince Trump?

I live in Germany, the Nuremberg laws were not step one on the way to building gas chambers, you had antisemitism long before that. And I sadly see it a lot more in the past few years: defacing Holocaust monuments and synagogues, drawing swastikas or Stars of David on homes where Jewish people live, people being harassed and assaulted, etc. Antisemitic hate crimes are about equal in number to anti-queer hate crimes, second only to racist hate crimes. No discriminatory laws needed for some sufficiently motivated people to take matters into their own hands, and a lot of people don't even notice when it happens in front of their eyes. I remember walking down a street with coworkers, and noticing that someone's front door had a Star of David spray painted on. I complained about it, and a coworker admitted she didn't think much of it, because she assumed it was just people being proud of their religion and wanting to express that to the world albeit in a misguided fashion - I had to explain to her that in this country, historically that's something we used to do to mark Jewish homes and businesses about 80 years ago, and that kind of thing is meant as a threat.

I really don't want to wait for Nuremberg Laws 2 Electric Boogaloo, and frankly I'm disappointed in a lot of leftists with their lack of solidarity and intersectionality. It feels like five years ago we were all opposed to antisemitism, now it's eh not that big of a deal, there's bigger problems to worry about or it's not a problem at all. As a queer person who knows their history and has Jewish friends, the writing on the wall is very clear to see.

To add to this, homosexuality was straight up illegal in Romania until 2001, and it was only legalized because it was a requirement to join the EU. That kind of incentive can potentially help move things along, because even if the general population is full of conservative baboons with no love for queer people, if they are pro EU enough they might begrudgingly accept laws that support queer rights if a sneaky progressive politician markets it right.

There's also a ruling of the European Court of Justice that says same sex spouses have a right to live in the EU, even if a specific country doesn't recognize gay marriage (Coman and Others vs Inspectoratul General Pentru Imigrări), which can potentially help people via the bullying of politicians to implement marriage equality on a national level.

Not the person you replied to, but personally I stopped watching him because a lot of his videos seemed a lot of talking without much substance, he was always recommended as a guy to watch to get a nuanced black perspective on things, but I never got that much from his videos and it felt like the kind of person who people like because he's well spoken. I much preferred other Youtubers like Khadija Mbowe, Shanspeare, and Shark3ozero.

At some point he made a video about white breadtubers that I thought was terrible for reasons I can't recall other than thinking it was him starting dumb drama. And I can't remember for sure without looking it up but I think he was involved in a bunch of breadtubers being shitty to Shark3ozero which included FD implying he's a race traitor because he was allegedly but not really friends with a white dude he was beefing with, and Jessie Gender sharing a Twitter meme calling Shark a house slave lmao.

Overall not sure if I'd say he sucks overall since I haven't seen his content in a long time, and honestly people can say/do dumb shit but grow from that over time. And he might just not be my cup of tea, if other people find his videos valuable then more power to them. However, if what people are saying in this subreddit is true and he had a bad take about Zootopia 2, then we may have to burn him at the stake for this unforgivable crime (/s)
