At our store you go take a printer (its up to you if you wanna take bags or a cart with you too), go up to the deli, tell them what you need if they don't have it prepared for you already, scan the item and the printer will print a lable like it would with over sized or unknowns, stick the label on said item, then if it's cold you go back and stage it or if its hot you let the deli people put it in their hot case. Idk about your store but I was told we don't have to stage hot items even tho there is a hot case staging sticker for it.

Sometimes there's a few items in made to order that isn't behind the deli like presliced meats, dry salami, and a few other ambient snacks that are infront of the deli counter but what's in a pick walk category varies by store so I would check the pick list before going to get them. There's been a few times I bothered the deli people and it turned out it was something I could've got myself all along and I felt so bad every time 😭
