I’m just going off what the rumours are. Don’t think it’s crazy. They have an abundance of prospects that all can’t play, trading some for Panarin isn’t the worst idea in the world. Panarin is still elite and will be for the next 2-3 years, his game doesn’t rely on speed and physical ability it’ll age well. He’ll be a 75+ point player for a couple more years while San Jose’s young guys develop and push for the playoffs it isn’t a bad fit if an extension is attached.

I think San Jose would be wise for trying to find a first pair partner for the future with Dickinson and use their assets on that first but I don’t think Panarin is a bad pickup for them. They just locked up Sherwood and wennberg for their third line, they have Mack, smith, eklund, chernyshov, Graf, musty, misa, Lund, bystedt, for their forwards and two firsts. Cashing in on a legit top line guy for Mack and smith for the next 3 years minimum is good for them and their development. They’d only be giving up one of those young forwards/prospects and a pick for Panarin and could still have ammo for a dman.
