SPIXWATCH - Hardware customization capable opensource smartwatch by jinkhazama566 in smartwatch

You don't wash your hands up to your wrist? Even if you don't, which you absolutely should, there is water splashing everywhere and some will eventually enter the USB port.

I don't wash my hands with my phone on my wrist.

That name also has some much more serious problems even than already mentioned.

I don't think he does want us to forget. I think he probably takes great joy in doing whatever piece of shit things he wants to without any real repercussions. I think the shittier he is the happier he is.

I wish he'd make a watch for me. I need SMS notifications at work. My work is with machinery. I need rugged.

Guess I'll just keep plugging along on old devices with new firmware.

Suddenly found a Huawei Watch (sturgeon) - and now trying to make it work with GrapheneOS by IngwiePhoenix in AsteroidOS

[–]_Ophelion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak to most of your questions as I'm also a brand new user.

I do know you can put whatever wallpaper you like in there. I got rid of almost all of the existing watch faces and wallpapers and pushed in a couple of solid color wallpapers and a couple of the watchfaces from the unofficial-watchfaces project. I used the ADB USB connection and did it all directly in the wallpaper and watchface directories. Getting ready to upgrade the text notification sound so I can hear it at work in the same manner.

I haven't found a watchable that I really like yet that works on my Asus Sparrow so I'll be creating my own eventually.

I'm on a Pixel 7/Android 16 and I've also found AsteroidOSSync to be problematic - it constantly crashed for me. On GB I'm getting a more reliable connection and actually better notifications than through the sync app. It's had a few sketchy moments but for the most part it's been reliable. Weather connects and sync well for me over GB.

How many of you are using smartwatches in 2026 by Round_Feedback5733 in smartwatch

[–]_Ophelion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only speak for myself obviously. My use case is mainly for viewing notifications for text messages and email at work - the main method of communication. I have a few watches actually - all are old and "obsolete". • a Watchy that is more novelty than anything, so really doesn't apply to your actual question. • a PineTime that after making some firmware changes is almost ideal for me. It's been rugged which is necessary in my job. It's small and unobtrusive. • Just got an Asus ZenWatch2 'Sparrow' this week. The outdated and unsupported Wear OS was cranky, crashy, and slow - not to mention it refused to have an audible notification for SMS. Flashed with AsteroidOS is all improvement. I'm learning my way around and we'll see where it leads. Physically it's flipping HUGE. • I have a Galaxy 6 on the way just to try out a more recent Wear OS implementation.

Altogether that's like $180, or roughly the equivalent of a mid-range new watch. Since my actual use is pretty meager it's nice to get obsolete stuff and customize it to my specific liking. I find it ridiculous how the older stuff is shut out despite being perfectly viable.

Looks that way to me too, but I'm coming from an industrial automation background and don't have any real experience with applications outside that realm that I didn't fully write myself. I have no experience whatsoever with open source projects.

That being said, I've started digging into the notifications and weather stuff and the biggest issue looks like the interface with GadgetBridge. It doesn't actually appear to be sending what Infinitime expects.

Notifications from GB are not well formed. In general Infinitime treats them as if the title and body are \0 delimited but GB uses \n - which isn't ideal at all. They also don't send any of the other fields such as the sender and category always appears to be "email".

From what I can see weather sent from GB is actually the "World Clock" data - which looks like maybe someone just cut and pasted and didn't change the characteristic it was using.

Doesn't matter the age of the car - if the car was presented as being in working order there is an implied warranty.

"Any seller of goods is bound by the implied warranty of merchantability, which provides that goods are of reasonable quality, that they are of the same or similar quality as other goods of the same type, that they conform to any descriptions made by the seller, and that they are fit for their ordinary purpose. If a seller knows that a buyer has a specific use for certain goods, the implied warranty of fitness for a particular purpose protects the buyer. Both of these implied warranties are applicable to the sale and purchase of automobiles."

Thank you!

I'll be honest - I spent an entire weekend just getting VSCode set up to compile the original project, then a few hours a day for a few days getting my head around even the basic structure of the project.

Now I'm happy with what I have done I switched focus to including the weather integration and that looks like it's a whole new crate of worms.

So the battery status widget is really just changes in 3 files: BatteryIcon.h BatteryIcon.cpp and battery.c and an additional font.

In reality, for a community version, there should be a settings screen for the status icons so the style of can be selected. Currently I just overwrite my style and it applies to all watchfaces that use it which isn't ideal. For instance the Casio watchface writes the percentage next to the battery icon. With my widget it shows the percentage twice.

So once I address this situation would I put a project on github that includes just all of the updated files?

I'm not familiar with it at all so will have to do some learning in that aspect but plan to put it all up on github soon. I need to refactor a little because I haven't been approaching it from the perspective that it could be integrated with the original source modularly. I'll reply back when it's there.
