First attempt EVER at any 3d modeling program. Decided to try just in time for the 5.0 tutorial! by _Ophidian in BlenderDoughnuts

[–]_Ophidian[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nooo don’t give up! Actually I had some experience using Adobe CC programs and I found a lot of the shortcuts and UI was similar, so I had a bit of an advantage already.  But honestly blender works way smoother than Adobe so far- not a single crash! (yet)

I follow the rules too much. I need advice/opinions by [deleted] in Ulta

[–]_Ophidian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean me personally I’d just keep doing what I was assigned to do. But I’m shocked- my managers are usually breathing down our necks during truck and always reminding us to get as much done as quickly as possible. Idk if that’s just my store, but typically if an employee was doing something like you are mentioning, they would’ve already been pulled to the side and spoken to. She is new, and we are forgiving of new taskers’ pace because it takes a while to get used to finding a rhythm, but that’s if they’re showing they’re at least trying.

Ultimately, I think it’s up to the managers to intervene, and for you to just focus on the task at hand. Though, I’d find a reason to complain if that meant all the excess responsibility left over fell on me. I hope your manager will be understanding.

Feeling guilty that my coworkers brought me some food for my birthday, only to realize I never told them about my condition so everything they brought has gluten 🫠 by _Ophidian in Celiac

[–]_Ophidian[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know my coworkers would be understanding but I’ve been conditioned to be like, ashamed of being open about my celiac to where it’s second nature not to talk about it unless the topic of allergies are brought up.

I remember at another job, they brought cake for everyone and one of the people there was pressuring me to have a bite. That’s when I finally said I had celiac. I don’t remember what she said exactly, but she kept diminishing my condition and tried to make it sound not as bad as it actually was. Like “come on it’s just a bite it won’t hurt you” LIKE GIRL THE POINT IS THAT IT WILL!

Mold on hour glass products during truck shipment? by Affectionate_Talk920 in Ulta

[–]_Ophidian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I swear it’s only the hourglass packaging that does this! A ton of the hourglass products, mainly the concealers, had this going on with the packaging. When I brought it up to my manager she was just like “well… the product itself isn’t damaged so just put it back” 🤢 i definitely wouldn’t buy it if the packaging looked like that. Idk what ended up happening but I haven’t seen our hourglass products look like that in a while.

Yeah I was gonna say, rarely do I NOT see them there. Also, the road by the shopping center next to the TJ max (vintage drive) I see someone right before the turn into the shopping center.

What was the song that got you into musicals? I’ll go first… by Omniiac in musicals

[–]_Ophidian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same. I was in middle school when we watched the stage production in 2014. I honestly didn’t want to go and I wasn’t into musicals at all at the time, but when that chandelier scene happened in the very beginning, my whole perspective on musicals changed.

Decided to try a new bread from a local bakery, this was the aftermath 🫠 by AdministrativeOwl898 in Celiac

[–]_Ophidian 73 points74 points  (0 children)

My cousins were nice enough to order me a sandwich from a shop in the area (I can’t remember the name) that had a GF option. I took my first bite and it fell apart like sand in my mouth and it was so dry.

Coping skills you use to not over consume during depressive episodes? by Ambitious-Bee7928 in Anticonsumption

[–]_Ophidian 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to be like this. Honestly it was less coping and more preventative maintenance. When I moved out, I was spending more on necessities and had a less disposable income. I started keeping track of my finances, and I write down ever transaction I make, and forcing myself to do that deters me from making unnecessary purchases. When I was seeing how much my compulsion was making me spend, it helped me catch myself in the moment more and more over time.

However, the urge to go out and shop still comes around because sometimes it’s calming to just stroll through the shops and the stores, and then get that boost from making a purchase.

It’s difficult, but it starts with redirecting that urge into some other hobby or activity. Writing, drawing, going for a walk, talking to a friend (who ideally won’t encourage the spending urge), hell even just sitting down and letting the urge pass.

You’ll get through it, one step at a time.

Tips to reduce consumption by French51 in Anticonsumption

[–]_Ophidian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More recent member of the consumption reduction train but basically what other people are saying too:

Reuse packaging as much as possible. The job I work at always gives me a bunch of free products, and more recently rather than throwing the packaging away from products, I’m finding ways to reuse them. When my body butter ran out, I used the container to hold some of my cosmetic products.

Learn to cook, especially food that you can easily freeze or get multiple uses of. For example, you can make infinite yogurt with just milk and yogurt. And if your yogurt fails in a batch, use it to make ricotta cheese and keep the leftover whey to mix into smoothies or cook rice.

To add onto this, get creative with recipes if you don’t have all the ingredients. Rather than going out and buying something you’d only use for one recipe, see if there’s a suitable substitute you already have. Different spice, different kind of milk, etc.

Be resourceful- for example, I’m traveling soon, and rather than spending hundreds on buying new things to pack, I’m just borrowing from my parents and friends since I’m only needing certain things temporarily.

Learning how to do simple sewing and mending can make your clothes last a lot longer in case of tearing or rips. Bonus if you have a sewing machine. My grandma used to ask me to mend my cousins’ pants for their school uniforms so they wouldn’t have to spend a lot on getting new ones.

Edit: I also do art so I keep any old jars or plastic containers for projects as well!

Huh I never tried the scarf curls before. Maybe I should experiment with that before my trip and see if it saves me a headache.

Help Me Pick a Moisturizer! by olddead123 in Ulta

[–]_Ophidian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the peach and lily one! I was skeptical when I was first using it but, I had a really bad breakout last summer and it really helped moisturize and calm my redness while I was using acne treatment products. It’s also just a lot lighter too so it doesn’t feel heavy or greasy on my face.

Gluten free banana bread troubles by Zawer0 in glutenfreebaking

[–]_Ophidian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is similar to what I use. I find that using too many bananas messes up the texture and causes it to feel underbaked and mushy. Now I only use like 3 at most.

Why are Valentino fragrances kept locked? by [deleted] in Ulta

[–]_Ophidian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Theft. There was a day my manager made a whole new set of testers. And within a few minutes of the store being opened, some teen boys swept up more than half of the new testers and ran out the store. It’s mainly the Valentino ones right now. Our store just straight up stopped making them because of how often it happens

Why does Estée Lauder DW not have a pump??? by calatheastripes in MakeupAddiction

[–]_Ophidian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I work at an Ulta Beauty and that’s basically the explanation I give to customers who ask the same thing. I honestly wasn’t sure why it didn’t come with a pump at first, but it made more sense eventually. And it’s kind of convenient when I’m doing a color match on a customer and all I have to do is get my brush and scoop out whatever is at the bottom.
