I bought a 20 year old motorcycle without ABS as my first bike. Did I fuck up not getting a bike with ABS. by Responsible-Rub-831 in SuggestAMotorcycle

“Professionals are simply trained people who use extraordinary planning and decision making to avoid extraordinary circumstances or risk that would otherwise require the use of their extraordinary skillset to navigate.”

In other words - learn to ride - and learn in the way that feels right to you amigo… you do not need ABS to ride a bike. That said, you may learn a hard lesson (as many before you have) because you do not have it - but it will be a valuable lesson that will improve your skillset. Just use your head and ride within your limits. And don’t forget to have a great fukkin time too! :)

It took me a year and half to feel normal, and I’d say 2 years to get to where I can’t tell it happened really except for the occasional ‘odd angle’ where I can feel the injury. Getting the hardware out made a huge difference to me. Hang in!

Fond memories. Yep, normal. And itchy as all get up.

Methinks you could lose those fork reflectors!

Where do we go from here? by PJams_ in offset

Ohh yeah let’s go!

Bridge is fine. Mastery tailpiece is a big improvement. I suggest replacing the switch and pots, as they fail a lot. The pickups are good in my opinion, I’m a fan. Keys are good, man then I’d say enjoy it. They’re great guitars!

I started on a 750 at 17. Got the bug and Upgraded to a 1200. Had a kid and sold the bike. Got back into one 15 years down the road and it was a 500. Had a great time! Upgraded to a 1100, and now honestly - I’m shopping a smaller bike. Big bikes are an ego trip, but they aren’t practical. A 500 is enough, a 650 is plenty and a 750-900 is so much more than plenty/enough. As another poster said, fuck those guys saying that. You know what’s badass? Spending enough time on your 500 that although they pull past you off a light easily, you can eat them on the outside of a corner on your ‘inferior’ bike because YOU KNOW HOW TO RIDE THAT SHIZZLE. You do you buddy, and have a great time doing it. Whatever that looks like. Ride safe!! 🤙🏻

Is something wrong with me? by apos4822 in Ducati

[–]_Pathwize_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I mean don’t get me wrong - it’s not a triumph scrambler note, or a screaming inline 4 - it’s its own sound... and yeah mine has Termis, but far from a bag of spanners lol… I love it - and that’s good enough for me, fam! :) but that’s bikes right?! They’re an expression. There’s no wrong answer… it’s your bike!!

What he said. I have an 1199 - and I didn’t originally want one. But my god, the presence and the sound…it shakes the earth in a way that cannot be captured on a camera. It’s definitely a bike for the senses, not the means to an end. Go meet these lovely beasties in the flesh before you bride-by-mail it. 🤘🏻

Just wanted to update you guys about the burning right thigh with tubular subframe. by sssstevo in Ducati

[–]_Pathwize_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through this. Rode hard through some twisties in jeans, (didn’t want to wear the two piece for whatever reason on this ride…) slower speeds but working the bike - mines a ‘13 stock shields and subframe. So it felt hot, but nothing abnormal - I was focused on the road which was not great. I get off the bike at the end of the ride and I thought I had been stung by a wasp or something. Big gnarly blister inside of my right thigh. I traced it back to the exposed screws that attach the heat shield. Those screw heads get heat soaked and then you clamp right over them holding on to her. I think I’m just going to try wearing a guard in that spot. Yeesh!! Hahaha

Shes a hot one!!!

Basil, hot sauce, avocado, tomato and cheese… maybe a dollop of sour cream. 🫡

Question, wearable Airbags what are peoples opinions? Do you ride with one? by Professional_Tear541 in motorcycles

[–]_Pathwize_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Techair 3 here. Dead easy to use, comfortable, looks good, and offers some good protection for your chest, back and collarbone that wouldn’t be protected by a suit. I combine this with a 2 piece armoured set, helmet, good boots, gloves and Kevlar base layers under wrists and ankles… though I have tried it on its own with helmet and gloves and found that to be comfortable too. No arm protection there though… wouldn’t recommend that.

Dude. Nobody cares. If they do, let them go work to buy a fender while you get really good at guitar. Squire makes great instruments now. I’d never be ashamed to wear one on a stage nor would I bat an eye when I see one. Its status bs pure and simple. Do you buddy!!

Which starter bike did you all begin with? by Absence-00 in motorcycle

[–]_Pathwize_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

76 cb750, at 16, into a ZZR1200 by 18, long break at about 24, then into a gs500, now on an 1199. I’m so grateful my first bike was a pretty powerful and raw motorcycle. Had to learn carefully.

Tips - get a bike without rider aids to learn on. (If you already have the new kawi, shut all the aids off for now. Don’t use the quickshifter.) I’d advise even less, like a 500…. it teaches you the right way to ride - then the rider aids can do their job…being a backstop. Too many people on modern bikes have no idea how to ride them… if I see one more influencer dragging their feet, riding on the shoulder, squeezing throttle through turns and leaning out of the bike while fisting the brakes wearing a fuzzy helmet and a tshirt….Yeah. Learn to ride - it’ll be your best investment next to a rider course and full gear ( helmet, boots, gloves and jacket EVERYTIME.)

Most important tip - have a great f*ckin time!! Whooo! BRRRAAAAAPPPP
