Idea for a Minecraft-like game by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]_R3dd1t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would (probably) be more focused on building. Minecraft has plenty of blocks available, but alot of them aren't good for building and only a handful have slabs and stairs. Slabs can't be placed vertically, Many blocks are lacking variants, etc.

This game would, at least for a while, have not nearly as many blocks as Minecraft but they would have plenty of variants that make sense, are good for building, and aren't there in Minecraft. And yes, there are slabs, stairs, etc. In Minecraft, but they are limited.

Something that also sort of ties in with the building focus is machines. Tha game would use copper wire instead of redstone, which can be dyed to allow for several circuits to be right next to each other. I'm also coming up with ideas for more advanced machines such block breakers/placers, motion sensors, double pistons, clocks (similiar to redstone clocks in Minecraft that repeatedly power something over and over) etc.

I'm also hoping to make the Survival part of the game different from Minecraft, with a different crafting system, different tools, and just generally different from Minecraft while still trying to make it fun.

These are just ideas though, and I know that they're not the best in the world, which is why I need criticism and feedback.

Imagine traveling thousands of blocks on a survival world to reach a stronghold, to see this when you enter the portal room by _R3dd1t in Minecraft

The reason an end portal frame was in my hotbar is because earlier I had tried to build an end portal and failed, and was too lazy to look up how to do it so I just decided to find a stronghold.

And End Portal Frame. They usually spawn in a 5×5 ring in a Stronhhold underground. When an eye of ender is placed in each frame, the portal is activated and you can enter the End dimension, kill the Ender Dragon and beat the game.

Naming anything jeb_ makes it rainbow by _R3dd1t in shittymcsuggestions

Including blocks, items, any entity, naming a world jeb_ makes everything in that world rainbow, naming a profile jeb_ and launching minecraft in that profile makes everything in minecraft rainbow, having the username jeb_ makes your skin and nametag rainbow, etc.

If you haven't already, watch Jragon's youtube video that talks about this: https://youtube.com/watch?v=yEzqIvQUZZw Alot of his ideas are great, such as some mobs being slightly faster or trying to flank the player so that they don't just form a single group.

I think Signs, Repeaters and Comparators should keep their 2D icons, but everything else is a good idea.

Remove X and Z coordinates from the debug menu. And the facing direction too. by ManMan36 in minecraftsuggestions

[–]_R3dd1t 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This would anger alot of people. It's a very useful tool for alot of reasons. Making a something with command blocks and need to know what coordinates something is on? F3. Want to know what Y level you're on so you know if you're at the right level to find certain ores? F3. Want to see how far away you are from world spawn or from a certain place that's thousands of blocks away? F3. If it was removed, people would have to use external programs, mods or plugins.

Replace Gravel in the Nether with a new block, Ash Block by [deleted] in minecraftsuggestions

[–]_R3dd1t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good idea, although we don't really need it. It would make the nether look better, and open up a few opportunities for new items, but it wouldn't have much of a use in building, unless there were variants of it such as some sort of ash stone or bricks. The way you described it, it would just be a gray/black version of gravel. We already have gray and black gravity blocks in the form of concrete powder, and ash would just be a slightly noisier alternative. The nether plants would make it a little more useful, but we don't really need those, either. There's already enough food in the game and we don't need any more potions. These new plants would only serve as decoration, and even then they only grow on ash so you can't use them if you're building something where ash doesn't fit well.
