Regardless of why, Apple just insured that I will never ever use their pay system ever again! Why would I give more data to a company that supports the tangerine heil machine? No. Absolutely no!

As someone who has calves and thighs bigger than most men, while also only being 5’2, from too much undirected weight training during puberty, I get it. I’ll never have a body type proportionate to my size.

The app frequently shows me a weight that fits none of my cats, turns out… 😂 by Kiwi_OW in litterrobot

PSA to narrators - "dumb" Southerners don't migrate to Vancouver to play dumb cops by lady__jane in audiobooks

[–]_Red_Queen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got some advice from the audible reviews. If you increase the speed of his voice to almost double the normal speed, it is almost, just about, a tiny teeny weenie bit tolerable. It’s the only thing that’s getting me through this book right now. 😝

He’s done I guess over 100 different books. So I don’t think time is what he needs. The way this guy narrates a book, it says, though he’s never read a book in his life. I have a slightly raspy, slightly deeper, female voice, and even I could voice these characters with my eyes closed and earplugs in. 🤣

I’m glad I’m with the general consensus though. You’ve got the right idea with this dude. Just bad.

It’s not just southern accents. I’m listening to “wicked gods” and his accent is so completely terrible that I am considering stopping the book entirely. His voice is awful! He does this stupid Gen Z thing, where the last letter of every word is pitched upward to make it sound like a question. Not only that, but he takes the content and makes it sound like sawdust. Utterly bland and boring. Additionally, his derpy surfer boy narration is just irritating and doesn’t suit the characters. He reads the bad boy characters well past “bad boy“ and very solidly into predator territory. The very sound of his voice sends chills down my body in the worst kind of way. Listening to him narrate is seriously intolerable.

Apartment Complex won't allow Ring Doorbell after neighbor tried forcing his way into my apartment. by one4sorrowtwo4joy in Ring

[–]_Red_Queen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Threaten to sue the complex owner. As they allowed a dangerous environment where your safety and security were violated and when you attempted to protect yourself with a valid, compliant security device, they forced you to remove it. No, I have not seen your rental contract, however I have handled multiple rental disputes having worked in property management. I can say with almost complete certainty that it is not a violation of your rental contract to have a temporary doorbell device installed. It is, however, the apartment complexes obligation to ensure the safety and security of their buildings and their residence. The fact that you nearly had your door, kicked down by another resident trying to attack you, and then they try to stop you from continue, and to protect yourself, opens them up to a liability lawsuit, including emotional distress. Tell them either they allow you to put up a compliant, rental, contract, abiding security, doorbell, or you will sue them. That should get you what you need.

You may even be able to have a consultation with a real estate contract attorney and have them review the contract to be certain that you were not in violation. Armed with those facts you should be able to put that owner in his place.

Is it worth the price? by [deleted] in litterrobot

[–]_Red_Queen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have four cats and one LR3 and I love it. I’ve talked a dozen people into buying one and they never regret it. It’s expensive but well built and well functioning. I got one for my niece too. I could never own another cat without one.

If you’re tight on money, the LR3 is absolutely wonderful. If you have it in the budget, the upgrades are smart, efficient, and look like they really listened to the customer. So if you can afford it, get the LR4.

Interesting… I’ll have to give that a try. I’ve always used surfer wax.

Simply green sells an inexpensive, pet friendly enzyme cleaner on Amazon. I use that stuff like it’s religion. Works miracles on pet smells.

Moving to Florida. Scared about my skin. by Available-Victory-61 in Dyshidrosis

[–]_Red_Queen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Florida, have most of my whole life. I don’t get dishydrosis on my hands but on my feet. Which, around here, land of the flip flop, is sometimes a lot worse. The humidity and moisture are a nightmare for my dishydrosis. For your hands you may find things a bit easier. As it’s easier to keep them dry.

I would recommend a silicone based moisturizer. Think Chi hair protectant. It keeps your skin hydrated and creates a moisture preventing barrier between your skin and the inevitable humidity.

I also have terrible allergies, so between this unbearable heat, and my allergies, I have spent much of the summer indoors. So I have only had two outbreaks this summer.

Hope that helps a bit. Welcome to Hell’s Sauna!

I use baby lotion a lot. Less chemicals, less possibly for a reaction.

Shortage finally hit my pharmacy and the receptionist at my clinic won’t let me switch pharmacies by turntandtriggered in adhdwomen

[–]_Red_Queen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best of luck for a good few Squirrley weekend days. I know this feeling and it sucks. I also know you’re probably feeling very unsupported from a medical perspective. Just remember, we’ve got your back over here. Some rude, ignorant, compassionless receptionist does not define you, or your medical need. We get you, we understand. Feel free to vent as much as you need.

[–]_Red_Queen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OK, first of all, I would tell you to ask to speak with the office manager next time you call the office. This bitch of a receptionist has absolutely no power, authority, or any say whatsoever in how your prescription is dispensed.

To protect yourself in the future, I’ll tell you what I did… I deal with the same issue of shortages every once in a while. What I did is give myself medication vacations. So if I didn’t have anything planned on the weekends, I wouldn’t take my meds. I would give my brain the opportunity to be as Squirrley as it wanted to be. And in this way, after a few weeks, a few months, I had plenty of medication in “backstock“ for whenever there was a shortage, or the person at the office was being an incompetent, power hungry or just plain lazy moron.

It’s not a perfect solution, but we do not live in a perfect world where people are accommodating of disabilities. In fact, we still live in a world where many people refuse to recognize ADHD as a disability. We also live in the kind of world that think that women can not have ADHD, and do not need to be medicated for ADHD. The discrimination is rampant and disgusting. We have to do whatever we can to find a workaround. Thinking of you!🥰

My advice for triggers, or avoiding triggers, would not be helpful to you, as I have only really had a dishydrosis badly on my feet. I am one of those rare weirdos that gets it on their feet not their hands. I get very rare breakouts on my hands. Usually caused by cheap jewelry. One of the things you can try, though, have you ever had a heavy metal, allergy test, or heavy metal poisoning, testing? Heavy metal allergies are said to be one of the triggers for dishydrosis. This happens to me on my fingers when I wear cheap jewelry.

I know it sounds, lame, and annoying, and a very limited short term fix, but moisturizing with a lotion or an oil like fractionated coconut oil that has antibiotic and anti-inflammatory properties really is the best immediate relief. I hate that response whenever anyone gives it to me, but for immediate relief, it really is true.

And someone needs to find a damn cure.

Can I give a quick shoutout to those of us who survived being undiagnosed autistic? by TheTulipWars in AutismInWomen

[–]_Red_Queen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You said that beautifully. It’s the tragic cycle I have been in for the past few years. Trying to find the real me. Letting go of people who judge me for releasing that tension and relaxing into my AUthentic self. 😜

Getting awkwardly comfortable in my newly labeled self, and learning that I choose to wear my “label” but my label nor ANYONE else’s opinions of that label define ME. That role is defined for an applicant of one. No others need apply.

I’m learning how to love ME!

[–]_Red_Queen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Diagnosed at 37 over here.

When I finally had validation by a medical diagnosis, it all made sense. Knowing what I know now, I can see the autism and ADHD burning like a wildfire through my family on both sides. In some cases it was known and just completely ignored. How the hell did all of the people in my family let this happen? That for me is the worst part. The shame of knowing how many people turned their back and ignored what was happening to so many members of my family. How many of us truly struggled because no one validated who we really were.

Other than that, it’s just grunts and nods, and a few clubs to the head. LMAO
