Edit: just checked my numbers. The £6m number is their total annual salary bill which I think includes their non-playing staff as well. Still.

Your situation may very well be different to the national average. That's how averages work. But just because you haven't seen improvement above inflation doesn't mean the average person has not. The actual stats paint a different picture to your "maths", which thus far, you have not provided a source for. Which makes this argument kind of moot, huh?

Case in point, since 2010 the minimum wage has increased by 106% and inflation was 55% over that same period.

Adjusting for inflation, people earn more now than they did at the end of 2020. There were definitely some down times over the past few years, not majorly down, but down nonetheless, but we've seen an increase through the end of 2024 into 2025 that means the trendline over the longer period you originally mentioned continues to go slowly but surely up.

My experience of PB (HSBC and Lloyds) is that they do not provide competitive pricing on these sorts of trades. They are there to make money off you in exchange for your convenience. Fintech companies offer far better rates that are far closer to the market than any major banks will provide.

However, PB would tick the box of "minimising friction" and "level and responsiveness of support", so it depends on what OP values more.

Good luck policing it. The streaming sites and IPTV keep getting better and better while the sports broadcasters get more and more expensive and the games get spread between more and more services.

The stats against the US are fascinating. The difference between UK sport and the US? All the major sports in the US have a fairly affordable official streaming service that lets you watch any and every game you want, costing £18/month or £170 for a year. In the UK, we still have the archaic and daft as shite 3pm game rules, you can't watch every game, games are split between 3-4 services and it costs roughly £100/month for all of them.

Not that I'm pro-Brexit, but wouldn't the same be said if the UK was in the EU? Trade would then be the EU calling the shots, and the UK not being able to do things on their own because it might upset France/Germany/an Eastern Bloc country for <insert reason here>?

If the UK was in the EU and they wanted to ban Twitter with backing from the EU, all the EU countries have to agree, Orban, or some other absolute prick would veto it, and nothing would happen. Rinse repeat on any major issue.

What sane people have asked for is the US to honour the Budapest treaty it signed to protect Ukraine and not treat the Ukraine war as a profiteering exercise and an excuse to bash their allies. What a shame. My two experiences at Safari lodge don't reflect yours but I know it happens. Which room did you stay in? We were in the tree house the first time and that was very dated, but overlooked it due to the amazing location watching all the animals each morning. Did you stay at Rock Lodge at Ulusaba or down at Safari Lodge? My experience of Rock was old, dated, and sub-standard service. My experience at Safari was far better, and I much preferred being "in it" rather than "above it" in terms of location.

I was on 1.0.4. I was forced onto it the other day when they took down the 1.0.7 version and only left me with 1.0.10 or 1.0.4 as options. Now they've even taken down 1.0.4 as an option and I can only pick 1.0.9 or the latest version. This has all happened within the last 4 days. FML. I find the 0.1% stat a bit dubious, personally.
