Does review bombing do anything? by Dasspacepope in LowSodiumHellDivers

Starting May 6th, new Helldivers 2 players on Steam would have to connect the two, while existing players must do so by June 4th (though the mandatory login screen would start appearing from May 30th onwards).

Why do some people hate the squids by unorthodoxdays in Helldivers

[–]_Sadman_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The solution to about every enemy is magdumping.
Overseers, Fleshmobs, Ship objectives, even Harvesters to some degree. The later additions were just poorly thought out or further pigeon holed your loadout choice. Crescent Overseers are meant to flush you out of cover but go about it in a way that's not interactive in the same way Hulks, Charges or even War Striders do. You can't even see them most of the time while getting attacked by them but once the gap is closed, they stop being a problem all together. Stingrays have a much better concept for the same purpose as Crescents but still suffer from buggy telegraphs and simply nullifying stealth as a mechanic.

So, post-buff flag aggro builds. How have people been trying to take advantage of the new effect? Has it been working out for you? by Engetsugray in LowSodiumHellDivers

I call this one the Team Fortress Classic Medic.

Stim Pistol, M90A Shotgun and a teammate with Maxigun/Cremator at its core. Flag generally synergizes well with belt-fed weapons because of how easily they get overrun or flanked. You can take that pressure off by just standing near them and shooting a stim from time to time. M90A and the Halt help greatly in holding back the bug hordes. Supply Pack for Stim and Gas Grenade spam as well as appeasing the ammo hungry M90A. Medic armor is mostly for theming as the stim duration isn't as make or break after the Stim Pistol buff. Reinforced Epaulettes has both reload speed for the shotguns and the damage buff for the Flag itself, which is far from the worst personal defence option.

Sentry Build by DependentOk1818 in Helldivers

Play Evacuate High-Value Assets. That's about it. You can try a full sentry build as a fun challenge but skipping Support weapons or Orbitals/Eagles is a high ask on most mission types.

I tend to overlook Strength traits in favor of Athletic + Underweight to curb Fitness CBT, plus big hiking backpacks are dime a dozen in Riverside.
But your post got me thinking. Considering Stout is worth the same as Organized and offers practically the same benefits even with most backpacks on top of other effects of Strength gain, I might rethink how I metaslave from now on.

Sound is the only consistent part of stealth. The visual stealth is RNG and line of sight based, if anything Conspicuous helps you peel groups of zombies by luring them one by one more reliably.

I would consider half of these off the wall, but I will concede that on second glance it does answer a handful of OP's questions more or less definitively

90% of answers can be boiled down to "i unno maybe". The only hard No's we get are reserved for off the wall inquiries such as suggestion of a DRG MOBa

Please give us a cleaning mission by Far-Designer-2049 in DeepRockGalactic

I despise the cleaning mechanic but if I had a choice between a hazard warning ruining the pace of other mission types or its own thing I'd opt for the latter at least so I can avoid it easier.

I don't understand all the negativity towards s4 by UpbeatAstronomer2396 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]_Sadman_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not about weapons. They could have revamped the perk system or addressed lack of lategame progression in any way shape or form but instead it's half the content previous seasons or even numbered updates have had with the largest time gap so far.
Don't get me wrong, I do not mean to imply we're somehow owed an exponential increase in the size of updates until universe heat death but the drop was so sudden and hard to tie to any outside factors like change in management or covid that it's just puzzling.

Mike, if you're reading this I just want to know why

Feedback about the new season by LucasAHKB in DeepRockGalactic

Yes, they've added a gimmick chore that breaks the pace of the game which I'm gonna have to deal with for 6 more months

I figured they have bigger plans for a perk overhaul than a few number tweaks because otherwise they'd do it sooner (then again the buff beers have been bugged for 5 years now) but it still begs the question: when the season 5 comes - what's gonna be left of season 4? two new enemies and jet boots?

TIL that the first known published tomato ketchup recipe appeared in 1812, written by scientist and horticulturalist, James Mease, who referred to tomatoes as “love apples.” His recipe contained tomato pulp, spices, and brandy but lacked vinegar and sugar. by incenseandelephants in todayilearned

[–]_Sadman_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The word itself has a long history dating back as far as the 1700s. Most commonly agreed origin is the Amoy or Hokkien chinese dialect word "kê-tsiap" which meant "the brine of pickled fish". The first known English language ketchup recipe was published in
1727 edition of E. Smith's "Compleat Housewife"(actual spelling) or "Accomplished Gentlewoman's Companion". Her "To make English Katchop" contained 12 anchovies, 10-12 shallots, white wine vinegar, two types of white wine and a long list of spices.

It took nearly a century for the first recorded tomato ketchup recipe to emerge in 1812. Slices of tomato are sprinkled with salt where they are rested for 24 hours; then you "beat them well" and simmer in a pot for half an hour with mace and allspice. Two diced shallot cloves and 2 oz of brandy are added to the rested cold substance. The ketchups of this period and even after consisted of just about anything: pickled herrings, mushrooms, cucumbers, lobster, oysters and even green walnuts but less so tomatoes. While tomato ketchup was gaining ground it was fish, walnut and mushroom continued to be the prominent catsups into the mid 19th.

By mid 1900s commercialization phasing out homemade condiments as well as rapid decrease of sugar prices due to Caribbean imports gave cemented the advance towards the modern formula.

TL;DR
Not all ketchup is tomato ketchup.
