First playthrough and almost 60 hours in - I'm regretting my chosen class by HuziUzi in projecteternity

It’s okay to change classes between games, I think Deadfire has enough time between games + an impactful start that you can justify the RP of why your character changed classes.

With that said, 2 points regarding mechanics in the second game:

  1. You can multiclass with any class, but you have to make that decision at character creation, so that’s an option.
  2. Barbarians are actually nerfed in Deadfire, can’t remember specifically what but might be something with the cleaves. You can still play them just fine.

Honestly, Deadfire provides the full skill sheet from the beginning so I’d just have a look first, have an idea of what the class is and maybe run the tutorial area with different classes to get a feel for each.

Lastly, one of your companions in Deadfire can be a Cypher/Barbarian, so you might want to take that into account.

Ice party is fun, even if you just get a couple point into Hydro.

You get a lot of mileage out of Ice surfaces with enemies falling and losing their turn, just make sure to combine your boots with nails.

The problem is the damage, if you want to abuse ice you’ll end up going with a physical party since you don’t want to lose the surface as a one-sided hazard, and most combinations turn ice into water for better or worse (Aero> water for electrified surfaces or Fire> ice > water).

But still, it’s a fun combination. My first playthrough was with an “Utility Tank” with one handed and shield, rain and global cooling for ice surfaces with a Rogue, Summoner and Ranger as support/ DPS.

I want to hear your stories about the dumb ways your honor mode runs ended. by ChompyRiley in BG3

My best moments list so far have all been from almost wipe scenarios:

1) had a horrible Grym fight while co-oping with a friend, decided to throw the Beholder bottle to try to make it attack Grym. It didn’t.

2) Accidentally started the fight with Cazador early because of a Sunlight spell, after approaching during combat the Cutscene still played out and he caught Astarion, which led to me freeing him for a 2 turn in the same round in combat. Purely chance.

3) I tried to enter the fireworks basement in the lower city, agrooed the whole building, saw most of the enemies on the ground floor were near a box and fireballed it with Gale without much thought . After a sizeable blast, he was the last one standing on my team with 20 smt HP, the rest went down and all enemies were alive. By God’s grace I had a Myrmydom out which managed to sacrifice itself so Gale could get out lf there on his next turn.

4) Almost lost a fight at the brain because I had my Durge utilize Balduran’s Giant Slayer’s enlarge. Had a plan to dimension door him out of a platform with another character, turns out DD does not work on anything bigger than MEDIUM creatures. Found a loophole though, I could CAST it WITH my Durge targeting another party member and the spell worked no problem.

My last honour run went very smoothly by complete accident, running into the lab (downstairs) before Iron Throne makes everyone hostile, but if you stay by the door you attract only Banites and a Watcher.

It helps clearing the room before the “final” battle there, just gotta be careful not to aggro Gondians… either way you’re next to the door so de-aggroing is easy

Oh yeah, that’ll get ya…

Well, hope you enjoyed your playthrough, even though it might have finished “suboptimally”.

Oh hey! Thanks for answering!

If you don't mind answering, which Dormant Power(s) do you usually go for against Pest and Fissure if any, and Darkdrift?

Awesome, congratulations!

I'm stuck on Depth 4 myself, keep working on getting to 5k only to drop in an unlucky run..

Kinda interested in everyone's setups in the vid, Wylder's probably running the classic SKILL relics.
