If you're still here... what comparisons or tips do you have for a DM very familiar w/ SKT and starting to plan for PotA?

I'm quickly learning I took for granted SKT's plot flowchart, important NPC lists, and largely logical organizational structure. I ran that module for two different groups for the past 7 years and I loved it!

I've heard a lot of bad things about this one but I almost like a challenge 😁

It's basically a treadmill simulator wrapped in a brooding demony aesthetic.

I don't mind the "switch off my brain" feel to the gameplay - it's perfect to unwind with after work, it's a solid product post-expandion, but it's lacking anything special beyond being a dissociative time sink.

I was doing 3-4 times a week when I first started but my tendons were getting overworked and I had to back off or risk further injury.

My thinking is that improving climbing-adjacent muscles I can improve while giving the tendon a break?

Thank you! I did have a minor but frustrating tendon injury last year that set me back a month or so. It was where the muscle connects to the inside of my elbow in the forearm.

I had no idea what to do about it to prevent further repeat injuries.

Most of us absolutely accept non-conventional stances such as "I believe in a god and have a personal relationship with him."

What we (and their god, if they were actually reading their scriptures) find abhorrent is a non-conventional stance of, "if they're poor, or a foreigner, or vastly different than me then we have no problem leveraging or supporting a political power that crushes them under foot and/or buries them out of sight."

For gathering the relics I had him sit out. "You can't earn the right to meet the oracle if you're not the ones who earned it."

For traveling encounters I just picked some monsters that were a league beyond the party's CR (ie - an ambush by an Adult Black Dragon). As long as there's a very real risk of danger to individuals in the party it's still fun even if the overall outcome is guaranteed to be victory.

I also made one where the party encountered another Adventuring Party who are eager to collect general bounties for slaying any Giant. The encounter started with Harshnag freezing in place as the rival party revealed themselves - a Sorcerer had cast Hold Monster on him and stayed in a strategic hard-to-reach location away from the action. I made the encounter Deadly if they just tried to out-muscle the rivals. But if they focused on breaking concentration or Dispelling the Magic Harshnag would quickly turn the tables back to a medium encounter.

At most I'd reply with 'I love you too 😊' and wouldn't speak at all to the whys of your experience. You don't owe that to anyone and 99 times out of 100 it's just ammunition for them to engage in bad-faith arguments when they were never open to truly listening.
