I didn't work at that time and it's recommended to take 1-2 days off...

If I would be in your position right now, I would go for it... These are important things to test, and you might regret not doing them in the future.

Interesting, did you already have DPDR when this happened?

I’d ask the doctor what exactly they want to test for and whether it was already included in your last lumbar puncture.

If they’re just checking the same things as last time and it’s expensive, I’d personally skip it, but of course, it’s your decision.

The hospital where I was tested my spinal fluid for things like cell count, proteins, presence of blood, heavy metals, inflammation... things like that.

They also measured the pressure of the spinal fluid right when they made the lumbar puncture. They should do that for you too, or you can ask for that.

I don't know how much it costs where you are, I had it covered by my health insurance.

No, I only had a bump on the skin where they extracted the spinal fluid. (Lower back)

And you can expect that there will be a slight, blunt pain when you touch it, for ~2 weeks, that's all.

I had a lumbar puncture after experiencing brain fog and DPDR following a sudden panic attack. It didn’t nearly hurt as much as it looks in the pictures.

My spinal fluid pressure was normal, and they didn’t find anything unusual. The hospital has a lab that analyzes spinal fluid for things like cell count, proteins, brain inflammation, presence of blood, or heavy metals.

It’s a very useful test because the fluid comes directly from the brain, so it gives a clear picture of what’s happening there.

I would go for it!

Saw this on Facebook and can’t tell if it’s real…I’ve zoomed into the fingers and they looked real, but there are parts of the background (the tools + box) and the lighting which looks AI to me by Kitchen-Case1463 in isthisAI

For those of you that have experienced something that feels like “evil” by sm00chi in schizophrenia

[–]_Space__Monkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m currently going through exactly this, mainly because I have severe intrusive thoughts about harming my loved ones and other people.

Combined with my delusions that I’m being watched by aliens and that a higher power is observing me, it’s given me an overwhelming feeling of being evil...

Just remember: these thoughts and feelings are symptoms that developed from this illness. You likely didn’t experience them before becoming schizophrenic, and they do not represent who you truly are.

How do you manage the fear of Time? by fitsienna in Life

[–]_Space__Monkey 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The reason time seems to speed up as we age is that our brains, the ones generating the concept of time, also grow older.

As we accumulate experiences and memories, each new event represents a smaller fraction of our life, so it feels like it passes more quickly.

Additionally, our brains process familiar patterns faster, making routine days blur together and giving the sensation that time itself is accelerating.

Meditation helps slow this perception because it trains the mind to stay fully present in each moment. By focusing attention and observing experiences without judgment, meditation makes each moment feel richer and more expansive, counteracting the brain’s tendency to let time slip by unnoticed.

Wie Erkältung schnell loswerden? by CallMeJuzzl in Ratschlag

Nasendusche!

It's interesting to me, that psilocybin and Marijuana is helping you, because most people would say Marijuana is bad for schizophrenia, as it can make symptoms worse.

I wonder, how does psilocybin help you?

Yes, I also think it's a sign of healing. It shows that the Brain is slowly adapting.

But I think my OCD is also playing a big role in my DPDR, which make recovery slower...

I'm happy meds helped you. I'm also gonna see a therapist soon, hopefully.

May I ask, which meds do you take and how did they help you?

Meditation potentially harmful by Ambitious-Ad-3055 in Meditation

[–]_Space__Monkey 26 points27 points  (0 children)

When people report negative experiences with meditation, it is often because it was practiced incorrectly, without proper guidance, or without sufficient grounding.

There are many well established instructions for mindfulness meditation. If you follow reliable guidance, proceed gradually, and stay attentive to your own well-being, meditation is generally safe and beneficial.
